Has anyone heard of Spyzooka and is it free?

Hi I was surfing the net and ran across this.

Has anyone tried Spyzooka? Is it any good? Is it free?

From what I read it sounds like it might be OK but I wanted to know more about it.

Just want you to know how much I appreciate any information that you provide.

Strangely tucows gives it 5 cows yet 7 out of 8 tucow's users give it a thumbs down.

Cnet brings up a page offering the download with no comments whatsoever. Odd to say the least. They give it 2/5 stars.

Softpedia gives it 3/5 stars

Why would anyone pay$30 for a doubtful program when there is an arsenal of excellent free programs out there? The program appears to have appeared in 2006 yet most sites never started offering it till October 2008

First off very good that you came here and asked us before you jumped in and got any programs, that is definitely the best way to go, and I applaud you for that.
If you had WOT web of trust installed on your pc you would not have to be asking that question however, googling spyzooka their homepage was the one at the top, every thing around it was flagged bright RED by WOT and McAfee site advisor, WOT has that site totally blocked I can not even access it that is how bad it is. Personally I don't need anything more that that to tell me to run from it.
Also after doing some looking I found that sypzooka has been listed on the rogue-software list at spywarewarrior, that in itself would keep me away from it, any program or company that has been on his rogue list at any time would not go on my machines even if it became delisted because the fact was at one time it was a rogue, I simply do not trust them to change.
And when going to this page which is supposed to be an advertisement for some spyware programs
http://ttreviews.info/ IT IS ALSO RED FLAGGED so I would not go there! and the others that are advertised there along with spyzooka are all known rogue spyware programs.
And several of the MVP's have said in forums it is not a suggested program since it has been on the rogue list.

I agree with Owbist here, when you have an incredible program like malwarebytes antimalware that you can get free or if you want it to run real time and give more options pay the paltry fee for it for life! and have a good excellent program that is used daily in all the support forums.
Or superantispyware which is free or pay, it is also an excellent program.
My test of what I can depend on is to visit the support forums and see the tools and programs they are using on a daily basis to fight the good fight against malware. If those people use it I know it is good period.

And I urge everyone if you use these excellent free programs please consider a donation no matter how small to support and thank them for being considerate enough to offer their hard work to us for free. Truly amazing work.

Consider adding WOT web of trust to your security layer it can be added to IE or firefox.

Hello from Lafayette, LA. We were the fortunate ones in the middle of South Louisiana, or at least so far, as Hurricane Season is not over yet. Lili nailed us a few year ago, this time it was Katrina to our east and Rita to our west. We got 50 knot winds, but really suffered minimal damage here as compared to less fortunate areas. My greenhouse was scattered across 4 neighboring yards. I still have a 4 wheeler chained to our Parkinsonia (very special to us) after pulling it back into a vertical position. Not a lot of fun by the way since they have thorns. We lost a few small shrubs that were less than 2 years old, literally blown out of the ground, and quite a few need to be straightened and staked. I had been working in New Orleans helping my professional counterpart there rebuild the IT portion of the city. Other than extensive tree loss I think most of the gardens might be OK in areas that did not get and keep water for a week or more and where the plants have a little salt tolerance. Areas where the water stayed for a while look totally dead. The trees, shrubs, and the grass are all brown both from the being under salty water and other things. Well, you have heard about the water. Let me just say nothing on TV can do justice to the reality of the situation. The smell is something I will not soon forget. We lived in Georgia when I was eight years old. Had a cool creek that ran through the backyard that my friends and I spent lots of time in, catching crawdads and throwing lily pads at each other. The first week of May I got horribly sick with what the docs guessed was an allergy. I couldn't breathe, even though I've never had asthma. My face turned very red and swelled to the point that I couldn't see. My hands swelled so much that they actually cracked and clear liquid ran from the cracks. It lasted for several days and then disappeared as suddenly as it came on. The following year it was back -- again in the first part of May. It was worse the second time and I ended up in the hospital, on oxygen and being pumped full of antihistamines. After asking tons of questions about anything new in my environment, the doctor finally told my mother that he believed I was deathly allergic to something that only bloomed during that time of year. His suggestion, besides documenting everything that I'd recently come into contact with, was to be GONE from the area well before the following May. Needless to say, we moved up North, and there were no more episodes until I went to an Easter Sunday service where the church was filled with blooming LILIES. The uncontrollable coughing started before we were even seated. Within five minutes I was having trouble breathing and freaking out. Mystery solved. I got out of there like my pants were on fire and my butt was catching! Nowadays I don't go to Easter services, or weddings, or funerals. I steer clear of the floral department in garden centers and grocery stores. No more lilies for me. For the record, I don't think I'm allergic to ALL types of lilies, but I have no plans to test that theory.

I think a lot of the criticism of the Zeta Rod system on this forum has been a bit unfair. First, I have no association of any kind with Zeta Rod. I don't sell or install water conditioning equipment. I do have a degree in chemistry. First, Zeta Rod DOES NOT claim to remove calcium and other dissolved minerals from your water. In fact, they have been very clear that they DO NOT remove anything. Therefore, and chemical test of water that has been conditioned with a Zeta Rod system will have exactly the same chemical composition as the water prior to the test. If you collect some Zeta Rod conditioned water and let it dry, you will get a deposit -- again, exactly what Zeta Rod states. What Zeta Rod DOES claim to do is to keep minerals dissolved in the water, so that they do not precipitate on (coat for the non-chemists) pipes, dishes, sinks, etc. (at least prior to the water evaporating). Zeta Rod also claims that any scale present due to evaporation will be easier to remove than normal scale. I have been using a Zeta Rod system for almost two years and my experience is that both of Zeta Rod's claims are true. Here are the trade-offs between a Zeta Rod and a traditional water softener; at least as I see them: 1. A Zeta Rod system may have a higher installation cost, but a lower operating cost. 2. In municipalities where traditional water softeners are not allowed, the Zeta Rod is a LOT better than nothing. 3. A traditional water softener will remove metals from your water -- the Zeta Rod will not. However, the Zeta Rod does appear to prevent the metals from depositing on pipes and other surfaces (as long as the water is not allowed to evaporate). During the first few months of use, the Zeta Rod also appears to remove any existing scale that has built up on pipes. Based on my personal experience, the Zeta Rod appears to be MORE effective than a salt based water softener at preventing scale buildup on pipes. 4. While the Zeta Rod does not remove anything from the water, it also does not add anything to the water. A traditional water softener replaces metals (usually calcium and magnesium) with sodium and/or potassium, depending on the kind of salt used with the water softener. 5. A traditional water softener should prevent water spots. A Zeta Rod will not prevent water spots. 6. The Zeta Rod system is MUCH smaller than a salt based water softener. If I had to install a new system and salt based water softeners were legal in my area, it would be a pretty close call for me. I would probably opt for the Zeta Rod system because of lower operating costs, smaller size and not lower maintenance (don't have to mess with bags of salt). Cheers, Don

If you have problems with an iphone, you can go on line and learn a lot from their tutorials. For me to use it just for web browsing it is not a big deal. If you buy a $ 900.00 unit, it is overkill for the purpose of doing basic stuff, there are cheaper ways . I use an old desktop with window 7 pro and a couple of programs for uses like Gardenweb and other progams, got a nice 24" screen to go along with. When friends show nice pictures of their efforts it show up nice with my set-up. For me it does your pictures no justice to watch it on a dinky screen, Forgive me for being such a lousy pita.

Thank you owbist and ravencajun,

There are so many things on the internet it is hard to know what is good and what is not. Like I said I just happened on this in search for other information. I never jump in and try something without checking it out first, I only have one computer and even if I had more, I would still check it out.

I appreciate the information here and I do have SuperAntispyware on this computer now and nothing has showed up other than a few cookies. I have other spyware programs that I have had for a long time that have served me well too.

I never heard of WOT that's a new one to me.

Since SuperAntispyware has been mentioned I had my sister remove it from her computer and then reinstall it. She ran a scan and it showed the same 21 problems. She is not having any issues with her computer could this be a false positive? Is there any way she can check this out? When SuperAntispyware put this stuff from the registry in quarantine nothing wanted to work and when she put it back into the registry and rebooted her computer her computer started working right. This is all in the registry and I am not messing with that, since her computer is running normally and there are no other problems showing up. What does she tell SuperAntispyware to do?

Thanks so much for answering my Spyzooka question, I know now to stay away from that. If it sounds to good to be true it normally is. Ha!

I would have her put malwarebytes on her pc and update it then do a full scan with it and see what it finds, it is very unusual for superantispyware to do what is happening to her but it could be a false positive in one of the other programs she has that superantispyware is not liking.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware there is a free version.
these are the directions on how to use it
download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt

Hi ravencajun,

Sorry it has taken this long to get back to you. Something came up that I had to take care of.

Thank you so much for the information about Malwarebytes, I will pass it along to my sister.

I tried something today and I was kind of taken by surprise on what I found.

First, I did a scan in AdAware and it came up with two MRU's one from the registry. I know you can delete MRU's without any problems.

Second, then I ran a scan in Spybot Search and Destroy and it came back with congratulations that it didn't find any problems.

Third, I then ran SuperAntiSpyware and it found 22 cookies and nothing else. There was a time that AdAware would find the cookies and this time it didn't. I just found this very interesting having 3 Spyware programs on my computer and one shows nothing, the other just finds MRU's and the last one finds cookies.

I was thinking how many spyware programs do you need to try and protect yourself? It would be nice if you could find one program that would take care of everything. Just my observation.

well adaware is not widely recommended anymore it is not the program it once was and spybot unfortunately also is not what it once was so personally they are no longer on my pc. The best 2 available now are Superantispyware and Malwarebytes antimalware. I highly recommend both of those they are good current programs but of course must be updated prior to each use to get new definitions and run full scans once a week. IF you do not have malwarebytes on your pc then go ahead and follow those directions and run the scan.
I also always always put spywareblaster on every windows pc it is free, all you do is open it weekly hit the update button and then hit the enable all protection button and that is it, it runs in the background to keep you safe from a lot of nasties, no scan to run.

I already have SpywareBlaster, I have had it for quite sometime now. The only program that I don't have is the Malware one. I printed out your directions too.

Is it easy to uninstall AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy? I never cared much for Spybot it was to confusing but I kept it updated. The people who built my computer put Spybot in.

One more question while I can still get on here. When I tried to get on the computer help forum it took awhile before I could access it and I looked down and there is an error, I will post what it says there.
