Perhaps Samsung can provide more specific information about ice production per day per ice maker in the two models you are considering. That would be ideal. I have an earlier model of the RFG238 (counter-depth FD, with two ice makers), from Lowes. Reading the manual, I didn't see a specific mention of the amount of ice this fridge can make each day. But when setting it up, you are supposed to produce and discard about 45 ice cubes, so that's a rough estimate of one day's production. Whether or not filling 6 glasses each dinner will work depends a lot on how many cubes you use to fill these glasses. Also, if ice is more convenient when it is easily available through the door, consumption may increase (especially in summer). My recollection of previous threads on this question is that the second ice maker really becomes useful for larger families, and during parties. Smaller families may do fine turning off the lower ice maker much of the time (and using the extra space in the freezer). It may be nice to have extra capacity available as needed, as well.

Many thanks to all those who weighed in on our frenzied fridge search! We've narrowed it down to the GE side by side and the CD FD Kitchenaid. Jenn-Air seems to have a model that looks virtually identical, with the exception of 'professional handles'. It's a few hundred dollars more, which may mean that we're destined to remain amateurs! The problem as Kayl said, is the 30'' depth, which is deeper than we would have liked. We're wondering if it could be recessed into the void in the wall behind, or if that would interfere with heat exchange. I talked to customer service, but we all know how productive that was! We bought a Kenmore Elite 27.6 cu. ft. FD fridge with Ice and Water Dispenser this past May. It has a Slim In-Door Icemaker, and the ice comes in two options - crushed or cubes. Has all the other options you like - full deli drawer, foldable and extendable shelves, 2 produce compartments, nice bottom freezer with a pull out shelf. Very happy with the performance, we use a lot of ice and water every day. Item # in Canada - 463 671 052 10. Mfg. number 71053.

Regarding longevity, our last fridge, a Whirlpool, was 18 years old... and we are giving it away as it's still very nice and running perfectly. The ice maker had a couple minor repairs, and never once did anything leak. Fridge before that was also reasonably priced, and when I sold the home I sold it with the house, also older model, ice maker never broke, still in working order. However, it should be noted these were older models, therefore manufactured back when quality control was better, IMO. I honestly can't speak to that now. It does concern me, though. I replaced 18 year old still working perfectly washer and dryer set with a new set a few months ago, and bought an extended warranty (something I never did before, and never needed). Hope we won't need it. This time around we purchased a Sub Zero to replace our Whirlpool - wanted a much larger fridge, and built-in. FWIW, it was not remotely $20,000. We purchased it for the 2 condensers, the reputation, and the fact it's simply a nicer fridge as regards what is inside. We are an older couple, with savings for retirement, and the fridge was affordable to us, albeit I would never consider it inexpensive.
