Has anyone ordered a mirror online? Any delivery problems?

I'm looking for a round wall mirror for our bathroom. Have mostly been looking online for now, not sure what I'll find out there in the "real" world! Are there any sites anyone has ordered from and had happy resulsts?

I ordered from a site...where I got a "Ginger" Hexagon shaped mirror. I believe it was shipped from Ginger directly and had no trouble. I looked for the best price and purchased it though Home Decor Hardware on-line.

I couldn't believe how well it was packaged. It had like a molded foam case around it. It was even kind of hard to unpack and in wonderful shape. I wouldn't doubt if they would have a round shape also.

No problem ordering from restoration hardware. Well, one--it didn't include a screw. They sent a whole new mirror, which I returned after getting the screw from the new one (kind of inefficient, but whatever--i just asked for the screw).

OK> So, I'm reading this post due to a recent experience with the plumber my GC is using for our renovation. I got a babysitter to watch my toddler so I could go look at fixtures at their showroom with my baby. So, I get there and they don't have many of the nicer brands on display- they want to show me everything in a catalog!! Well, thank you but I can do that at home. So, fine- I briefly look at the catalog and pick a few things to get prices. They gave me some pricing and I left. So- wouldn't you want to see products in person if you plan to invest nearly $2000 on them?? I dragged my two small children to another local plumbing outfit to see the higher end stuff I got quoted for at the previous place. The prices were more than $500 different!!! I mean to do I have stupid written on my head b/c I have a newborn? Do they just think I don't have time to research and will just take their price?? This mother has an MBA thank you very much. Fine. So I talked to my contractor and he said to approach them on the issue. I did. They claim their product is better quality and that you can get the same things from other dealers but they aren't as heavy... blah blah blah. That may be true for some Kohler fixtures, but not Rohl!!! And I don't even believe them at that. For the amount of money saved I can buy a whole new fixture in a few years if I decide to change it or it goes bad!! Can someone please tell me if these people are just jerking around with me?? I thought about how they may try to pad the rest of the bill if they adjust the fixture prices, so I'm not really sure what to do with this mess. This is why I do NOT trust vendors like this- b/c of dishonest people who try to make excuses for their ridiculous prices.

No, this is not a bait and switch situation. The number of items shown just below the large "add to cart" button is the TOTAL available, not what is available at the clearance price. Below the top "add to cart" button there is a second "add to cart" button, just above that and above where it shows the clearance price it says "X available as clearance items". It's very clear if you pay attention. It is very unusual for them to have more than one of any specific item at the clearance price, since the clearance department is comprised of returned items (so you may receive an opened box if you order a clearance item). If you really want to be certain of something, don't order it online, get on the phone and talk to a human being, because it is simply the nature of online shopping that the website may not keep up with the actual inventory (especially if someone else placed their order moments before you hit that "submit order" button). I have talked to human beings at Bellacor several times and have been happy with them every time.

They sell a lot of trees that are not well-regarded by many horticulturists - like flowering pears, Paulownia (Empress tree), hybrid poplars and willows and Leyland cypress. Trees that grow fast tend to be weak wooded and often come apart in windstorms. Or have a host of other problems that make them not so great in the landscape (like invasiveness in many areas). And again, they are offering a very broad range of plants, many that will not thrive in a Florida climate. As I stated in my previous post, you need to do your homework on appropriately climate-suited plants before you look into ordering anything online. Then see which, if any of those, are offered locally for the best size and the best price. Only when you have eliminated all local sources should you resort to mail order. Has anyone ordered tile online from Tile.Expert?

We just got our tile! We were also skeptical of ordering from Tile.Expert, but the online reviews and local pricing quotes on tile we really liked convinced us to give them a try. We've been planning far enough ahead on our remodel that a 9-week lead time was workable, and we were excited to have our small but heavy (1,377lbs!) pallet of tile delivered this week; with the freight driver noting that the tile was really well packed compared to some he's seen. The boxes were each tightly strapped to ensure no rattling or movement, then wrapped with a very strong, very thick shrink wrap that kept everything solidly in place, and then all that was strapped down further for it's trip from Italy to the PNW. We unpacked all of it the last two days to find there was not one single broken tile in the shipment, and it was exactly as we'd ordered, at a price well under what we could have gotten locally (we had local tile shop quote on the exact same material, with our designers discount, and it was still significantly higher). We'll try to post some pics once it's all installed in a couple of months:) but wanted to share our experience and recommend the tile.expert folks in the meantime!

I ordered 24" x 36" mirrored medicine cabinets from shopstocksupply. Shipped from VA to FL with no problems.
They were in these huge boxes that took two people to lift. Not because they were heavy but because they had so much packaging foam.
I have been having excellent experiences with all my on-line purchases. Just do an Internet search for the name of the company you plan to buy from along with the word "reviews" or "complaints". You'll find right away whether the company has problems or not.
I have also bought:
Danze faucets from danzefaucetwarehouse and costco.
Toto toilets from faucetdirect.
Decolav sinks from everyfaucet.
hide-away ironing center and Panasonic fans from wamhomecenter.
sconces from allmodernlighting.
Porcher faucets from irawoods.com.
I highly recommend all these sites.

I ordered a wonderful 'Yellowstone' mirror--

either bellacor or brightspot.com-- and a birch bark framed mirror from an ebay seller.

Both arrived fine, as did a larger bookcase with glass doors [also from ebay] and several tiffany style lamps and light fixtures.

Modern packaging makes it fairly safe. Not foolproof, but worth trying.

I ordered two mirrors at the same time, both from homeclick.com. One was a Whithaus New generation mirror, the other a Watermark Loft. Both arrived safely but at wildly different times (Watermark after 2 weeks, Whitehaus after 14 weeks!). Both were well packed, the Whitehaus extremely so, so well in fact I feared I would break it getting it out. The literally entombed the bubble-wrapped mirror inside the box by using some kind of spray-in foam that then hardened. It was a lot like encasing Han Solo in carbonite, only without the instant-thaw wizardry. I finally had to cut the box away and cut through the foam until I heard a bubble "pop" (Oh, that must be the mirror ...).

Long story but my advice -- order away. I bought nearly all of my bathroom remodel parts online with few hassles. The only caution is lead time -- sometimes they advertise things they may not have in stock. Most tell you that upfront. Homeclick, plumbersurplus, Vermont Soapstone, Modwalls, Chicago Faucet, eBay, Ira Woods, etc.

Wish I'd read this last night before I chickened out of ordering a mirror from homedecorators.com. I ordered a tv stand and could have gotten 20% the mirror I wanted, but I was worried about the prospect of breakage. Well, also abut the price. I can get a similar mirror for less at Ikea. But then I'm responsible for transporting it to my house--and Ikea does NOT package mirrors well. What have I done!?

Abbycat...have you purchased a mirror from Ikea? After I asked the original question (prompted by looking at mirrors online), I happened to be at Ikea. They have a plain, round mirror for $20. Perfect (in theory) for what I need, and much more budget-friendly! I didn't buy it, but can get back there pretty easily. Just wondering how "sub-par" it could be in reality...or if a mirror is just a mirror.
