Refrigerator carcass/box depth is only part of the story when determining the depth of a refrigerator and its impact on an aisle. You need to measure the full depth - including: (1) Box + Doors + Handles (2) Amount of space you will have behind the refrigerator for air circulation, power outlet + plug, and water line (if you have a water spigot and/or an icemaker). From my experience, CDs need less recommended air circulation than standard depths. Check the refrigerator's specs for the minimum recommended - but be aware that your installation may need more space, depending on your setup (e.g., do you need more space for the plug or water line than is recommended in the specs?) As Lisa mentioned, you need to measure from the handles when determining the aisle width and you need to determine how busy that aisle will be. You also need to take into account what is in front of the refrigerator - is the Prep Zone in front of the refrigerator? the Cooking Zone? If the Prep or Cooking Zone is directly in front or it is in any way "shared" work space, you will need more space in that aisle. So, measure from the refrigerator's handles to the counter edge of an island/peninsula or whatever is in front of the refrigerator, determine what you will have directly across from the refrigerator, and determine how busy that aisle will be.

I think it looks great as is. Your fridge is big and beautiful. As long as it is not blocking doors or windows. But if it really bothers you because of the look and isn't blocking anything: If the side is magnetic, add a magnetic shelf or two to it and it will look great. Or put a side rack less deep to make the difference appear tapered. We had to remove our top cabinet to be able to fit the height of our new fridge, that only required unscrewing the cabinet simply held on by screws, was easy. But all this talk about cutting into drywall and all that hassle (unless you are skilled in that sort of thing) otherwise it might be more work and hassle than it's worth unless the fridge is blocking something. Look at the Fisher Paykel brand as well. If you do not get water in the door, the RF201ADX5 is $2300. Regardless of the brand, think hard whether you really must have water/ice in the door: that is the first thing--and most often thing--to break. Plus, since the counter-depth fridge is space-constrained, you are using up quite a lot of valuable fridge space on the water dispenser. Also, have you looked at recessing your fridge cabinet space? Depending upon your construction, you may be able to carve out the back for another 3 or 4 or more inches of depth to put in a regular-depth fridge.

We had a GE that lasted forever 30 years ago, but THAT expectation is long gone! We put that one in the garage because my DW wanted a new, sleek stainless LG model. Not a lot of problems with the LG, aside from the flimsy interiors, BUT a really cool Samsung caught her eye. So, you guessed it, the GE went out (probably still running somewhere), the LG went into the garage and the fancy Samsung adorned our kitchen. It has LEAKED (condensation drain/defrost issues that they have known about FOREVER) from the beginning when defrosting. Thankfully, we have tile floors now, so no big problems, just an annoyance. Fast forward, we are about to do a gut remodel of the kitchen and flooring which will put wood everywhere. Scares me to death to have wood in the kitchen, but DW is locked in. We've been researching and shopping appliances, etc. for years, and while we'd love a built in subZ, I just can't get beyond the idea that it will cost as much as my first sports car, AND they also have some repair issues. I can also replace that fridge at least 3 times before I'm close to the cost of subZ SO, we've pretty much decided on a 36" kitchen aid counter depth, as it fits our design and has really smart internal configuration that will meet our needs closely enough to give up our standard depth fridge (we cook a LOT, and have ingredients and leftovers in the fridge all the time). We would have to go with a 48" built in to get the space we need. Now, while appliances certainly aren't built anywhere near as well as they used to be, we've had nothing but good luck with kitchen aid so far (over 30 years). Our original paneled KA dishwasher ran every time, and actually cleaned the dishes. Oh, it WAS loud, so DW wanted a "newer" sleek LG that was quiet. So, to the curb went the old KA. The LG was stainless and less noisy, but it didn't actually clean and dry the dishes well. Then, after the 3rd repair (door seals, spray arm, internal rack, control boards), it just flat out died on Christmas day. Since it was out of warranty, we went shopping (and researching) and ended up with; a kitchen aid. It's been pretty solid. Cleans the dishes, quiet, and has lasted for twice as long as the LG so far. We're planning to keep in as the only current appliance in our kitchen remodel. At any rate, good luck!
