Placement of sconces in Master Bath

am trying to figure out the optimum task lighting for our Master Bathroom. We have a 96" vanity, and my husband wants a big mirror - his only request :)

I was going to go with two long light fixtures above the mirror, but after reading EVERYWHERE about how vertical sconces are the best for task lighting, I am thinking of going with 4 vertical sconces mounted on the mirror.

I have fairly large vessel sinks - 25" wide, and am thinking of placing the sconces near the outer edge of the sink - so the distance between them will be about 2'. Will that be too close?

Vertical Fixtures

Not sure if 4 fixtures will clutter up the mirror, and take away from the contemporary look?

OR Should I stick with the lighting above the mirror. Would a fluoroscent fixture above mirror work or should I go for Halogen. Above mirror fixtures I am considering. I started out with the first one was shied away from it as its fluoroscent, and can't be dimmed.
