An Apple A Day / Fall is 5 Days Away!!

So, I got the 'Fall/Apple' fever and thought I'd do a simple table.

I bought these dishes last year, at the 'Largest Tag Sale', in Upstate New York. There are over 250 families that participate, and it's coming up again this Saturday... I'm really looking forward to it.

Well anyway, I bought these dishes for $2, and I'm sorry I didn't buy more (dumb). They are by Culinary Arts/Studio Collection. They're really cheerful and have a nice quality to them.

I took a picture of them with the bowls first..

Here they are w/o the bowls.

I'm returning the red flatware. I bought them at CTS and I really don't like the quality of them. So I will be on the look out for another set.

It must be my camera setting..the napkins are coming off a blue green..they are really a nice 'apple' green.

I bought the little candle apples a couple of years ago from CTS..they were on clearance - a box of 6 for 50 cents.

The green leaf bowls were from CTS too... 2/$3. I also got pumpkin ones like these too.

I made the basket centerpiece...using leaf garland, and faux apples, and put the candles in the center... I bought the basket about 10 yrs ago...also from CTS for a 'Whopping'

I'm looking forward to taking out all my Fall things..and I'm looking forward to all of yours too..

I love it all, Jane. The basket, the plates and bowls, your candles--all just go together so perfectly! Are the apples in the centerpiece and the cut one real or faux? Luv, luv, luv it all. ;o) Luvs

I love the plates, and yes, you should have bought more!
The candles are adorable...nothing like that this year!

I just peeled a bag of apples to make something for the weekend,,family party for 4 y o gson!

Metal--You can get clay to absorb water better by doing a couple of things. When you water, water as long as you can before it stops absorbing, then water a different area the same way. Keep doing that until the whole lawn has been watered as much as possible. Then return to the first part you watered. If it hasn't been an hour since you watered there, wait until an hour has passed, then water there again. And continue doing this for the whole lawn. What this does is give the water more of a chance to soak into the soil. Another thing you can do is to try to increase the organic content of the soil. Mulch mow, mulch mow leaves in the fall and so forth. Doing this will loosen up the soil quite a bit. I can water much longer without runoff than I could when I bought my house as a result of taking this approach.

OK I admit it. I suck at presentation. I just throw my stuff in a box. No wrapping. I even had my ebay seller wrap the item so I wouldn't have to do it. So I am in awe and jealousy of those who DO take the time to make a nice package; kudos to you! Shaun you did great with a perfect package for Diane. I know she has the RA and I think that apple peeler is just the ticket! ROFL about not seeing a doctor today....what would doc say to that?

awm : thank you for the sweet and supportive wishes. I sure hope your ride goes well. Two of the folks I am with have done that ride and loved it. We are indeed fortunate in the support we get from our families. tina thank you too. I will keep up the updates as it helps to clarify things in my head too :). I am glad you are enjoying it. golddust. we had flashing lights but it was just a miserable set of circumstances....hopefully not to be repeated. Glad you like my TALL tales. Sue yes it never has stormed today but we have had a fine time. We walked several miles to go to a Dollar Store and to stretch our legs. Time for a nap I think. Your trip sounds wonderful. I bet you will always cherish that time as will I this trip. Most likely won't do another as I don't want to leave DH this long again but this one time it is good. More later. c

Very warm & cozy table and you are right, you should have bought more of those dishes, they are precious!

Well, just remember, buy more this Sat. so you aren't saying "I wish" after it's all over.

That is one thing I've learned about yard/garage sales, don't think twice, cause if you go back it's usually gone, or once you get home, it's too late to go back cause the things go fast!

Your table is lovely and I'm echoing Yachter...there's not much "going back" in garage sale shopping!

Luvs..those apples in the basket and on the plate are all faux. I love them because they do look so real and actually fool everyone who sees them.

Kathleen...I know, I know, I'm kicking myself for not buying more of the dishes. Besides being really nice they were so cheap. Those cute little apple candles I got at CTS, a few years ago. I bought several boxes of 'Them' though...lol
Sounds like some special baking, w/apples for your little Gson. You always do such sweet things...I'm sure they love and appreciate everything. The weather is supposed to be nice..hope everyone has a great time.

yachter...you are so right. I had learned that lesson once before, the hard way. I passed up a fabulous buy on a table. When I got home, I was sorry I didn't get it. So I drove all the way back..and while I was almost there, a car passed me by...with guess what?? I'm sure you guessed, the table strapped to the top of the car!! grrrrr..ya think I would have learned from that...

jaybird...lololol..I seem to have really hit a nerve with everyone on not getting more of those dishes.. If I see anything, this Sat, that I feel is a 'Must Have'... I definitely won't think twice.

lynn...thanks. I agree, that basket was a great deal, and the quality is really nice too. It's quite large, and sometimes I use it for magazines.

Come on everyone.... I'm looking forward to seeing yours...Lynn, I know you've been challanged...so I'm waiting anxiously too!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. What a delightful Fall table.
I just saved the photo for our Inspiration album, which I am behind on again. Have some photos that need to be put in it.
That big sale sounds fantastic, I envy you getting to go to something like that. What fun!

Yes, I forgot to mention the tag sale you get to go to . . . again! What a great idea. Gosh, I wish Albuquerque or Santa Fe would do something like that.
I've been thinking about your pretty table all afternoon, Jane, while I was out running errands. Hobby Lobby has some incredible Fall decorations this year. Last year, I was SURE that I had all the decs I needed . . . that is, until your table got me all pumped up for Fall! (Sigh!)So, I bought a few more things today and had to tear myself away from HL and Marshalls before I bought even more . . . all thanks to you and this forum!

Jane, your tablescape and photography of it are great! The first two pics are SO INVITING! I just want to sit down and enjoy that atmosphere...even without food (maybe I could gnaw on a faux apple?) You have captured the "essence of September"! I love your dishes and accessories but the candles in the basket are my favourite!

Your apple table is sooo charming. Totally love all the details - the napkin rings are the best. I like how you did your centerpiece too - I have a number of baskets but I lack the talent to use them so nicely.
