Who Makes Their Own Stuff

Does anyone here do their own printables? As in taking a template in your graphic program and doing a layout and printing it. Like cards, boxes, etc.

I use Paint Shop Pro and make my own templates and do layouts on them and I'm wondering who here does the same, or at least does their own layouts on others blank templates.

Hi Summer, I make my own templates for all of the candy bar wrappers I do. Also, I made my own clock face templates. I've only used PrintShop for this. Just started using PSP 7 for editing pictures for another project.

I just use a micro fiber cloth, slightly damp. However, here are a couple you could try. I've used them, but I am so lazy about dusting and the kids tend to be less than thorough so a simple rag makes it look okay even if they miss stuff. If you want the cloth to be impregnated with the solution: Place 3 T lemon juice in a Ziploc and add about 5-10 drops of oil (jojoba, apricot kernel, olive, whatever you like). Shake, then stuff you dustcloth in the bag for a day. Dust as usual. This is more of a deep-cleaning dusting solution. If you prefer a spray bottle: 1/2 C apricot kernel or jojoba oil or Murphy's oil soap 1 T rubbing alcohol 1 C water 3 T castile soap or 1 t powdered detergent add 10-15 drops of essential oil if you want a scent. Lemon, cedar, patchouli work well. Pretty much anything you like is okay. Mix soap and water first, then add other ingredients.

I love the new layout and it makes the area look more spacious! Also love the primitive table and that's a good place for it. As to the matching leather recliners, just make sure that what he picks out is also comfortable for you. I made the mistake of getting the same recliner for me that DH selected and always regretted it because it just wasn't comfortable for my smaller frame. Wished I'd kept my previous one or gotten something smaller that coordinated. So if you go with matching recliners they need to be comfortable for each of you.

"Just wait until you have to pack up all that crap and move it." My SIL just bought a retirement home so they are decluttering their current house as a preparation for selling it--she keeps telling me she can't believe how much STUFF she's got to get rid of. When I go to their house I always admire how it looks nicely organized and without extraneous things all over. However, I also admire her tons of closets and storage space which she says leads to keeping, you guessed it, all that stuff LOL. I've decided I will play a mental game this summer and pretend we have to move; maybe that will be my motivation to get rid of much unnecessary and unused stuff in our house! I use the holidays and shopping for gifts to satisfy any yen I may have to be a retail hunter/gatherer. The past few years I increasingly feel as if I am gorging myself after staying on a careful and healthy diet; by the time January comes I feel so psychically bloated from all the shopping /buying that I need another year to rest up and recover! It's interesting to me to watch my young adult daughter who is setting up her first home. She loveslovesloves Home Goods, Marshalls, Pier 1 etc. And when I go with her I usually find stuff I could easily buy. I have a rule that I can't take anything from those places home the day I see it. That usually short circuits the purchase, I'm rarely motivated enough to fight the traffic and crowds to go back a second time!

let me see if I can find my post where I posted my soil. Otherwise I will post it sometime this weekend. Off to work in a few.: Quickly not an exact recipe but I start with 50% Sphagnum Peat/ProMix/Premier Peat - whatever 25% compost and or earthworm castings or mix of both 25% aeration - lava rock/Perlite/Rice Hulls - etc. as a base mix. I know alot of folks dont like to use peat but it works for me Then I add in alfelfa, kelp, fish, bone, blood, meal. bat and seabird guano. some azomite and or rock phosphate(glacial rock dust, greensand). I use alot of rice hulls for areation. Probably missed a few things, but I mix all this up and let cook for about 4-6 weeks as its a HOT mix. I water using compost tea to keep moist during the process or just stick it outside. I have grown other high nute demanding plants and it works for years like I said. Just add water when needed. Like once a month for adenium. Kelp meal works wonders for all plants inside or out. I get 50 lb bags from my local elevator. Has worked for me. A few of these plants are 27 years old now. I have had them about 22 years.

Well I try! Am currently fooling with clip art and thread painting combined- sort of like the 'string art' with nails and string of the 60's on paper. Making, very slowly, my Christmas cards.

It seems like I am always trying to figure out my own way of doing something. I couldn't find a money envelope I liked last Christmas so I made one myself.

My DD is making a coupon book for her best friend for Christmas. She is making one coupon for each month for a free lunch out at their favorite restaurants. We made up our own template and it is really turning out to be a cute project. Each monthly coupon has the logo or something like it for each restaurant. She doesn't have a lot of money for an expensive present but her friend always goes all out. The gift is turning out to be a really nice gift but she doesn't have to come up with a lot of money all at once. Maybe someone else could use this idea.

I use the blank templates a lot using Picture It also. I have the Platinum Version. It is such an easy program to use.

I used to use Corel Print House Magic, but for awhile now, I use PSP7. I could never do backgrounds fills in Corel, but can in PSP. I love it. It's like magic. And there is a free program called "20/20", in which you can create perfect seamless backgrounds. That's the only thing I find PSP can't do.

Anyone else do their own computer crafts?

I just finished one after trying to get one for the Nestle Water Bottle...Needed a "Not Quite"
2-inch label to fit around the bottle for my son's first communion. I am very pleased with it,
especially since its a Word template and they are so hard to find.

Now I'm going to tackle the Hershey Wrappers (100g-3.5 oz), Regular 45 g(1.55) & the one for the Nuggets-for Word :)

Hope they turn out as well
