How to decorate bathrooms with slate (look-alike) floors?
Comments (13)I did Dal Continental slate floor in the bathroom, with white tiles and a different color slate trim and pencil. I love it. I really like contrasting materials and textures, and the smooth white tiles and the more rustic feel of slate is very appealing for me! Am doing a backsplash as I write in the kitchen which will be white subway and slate border to contrast, too. We live in a more wooded area, so the contrast fits the outdoors as well. I don't have a lot of views of the floor, but here is one you may be able to get the basic look of: Here is a link that might be useful: other pics of bathroom......See MoreBlack slate floor in bathroom -- maintenance, cleaning easy?
Comments (4)The thing about black slate is that it's not really black. It's actually more of a charcoal color, and between that, and the cleft of the slate causing minute shadows, not to mention the fact that it's not nearly as shiny as your granite sink, the two are apples and oranges with respect to upkeep. There IS one place where the granite would have an advantage over the slate, and that's that it probably doesn't need to be sealed, whereas the slate does....See MoreDark (black or dark slate) floor in small bathroom?
Comments (9)Thanks suzan30! We fell in love with it when we saw it (the other colors are stunning as well!), but were also concerned about such dark tile in a small space (hadn't been considering dark tile at first). It is Glow tile (color is Cosmos) from Atlas Concorde (distributed by AKDO?). Ours are the 12x24's, if you can't tell in the pics, but it does come in other sizes as well....See Moreslate floor in bathroom?
Comments (2)I've seen a lot of photos of it installed in bathrooms and kitchens, but have no hands on... I want slate in my master, too: floors and lower part of the shower, upper shower walls in copper sheet. Since the 'floor' forum tends to be pretty specialized, I think you'd get more responses if you post this in the 'bath' forum....See Morekevin1727
