We did similar thing, except- instead of using clip board, we bought cheap white canvases from Michael and hot clue a tiny clip on it. (of course DD got creative and decorate her metal clip w/ little glitter flowers) :-) The reason we used canvas because they come in different sizes. Also, you can hang them sideway for those horizontal artwork. They are quite cheap too when you buy the bulk package. You can also mount the art work on the art frame using 2-sided tape at the corners . In the laundry room art display I use the 2sided tape (or mounting square) but in DD's room she wants the decorative clip for extra bling :-)

The frame is actually much more subtle in person - it's brown but not a "flat" brown, it has some dimension. I think the clips could be painted, that was my thought as well. Maybe painted to match the mat color. I'm slightly afraid of ruining it, though! I got this a discount home store - it's "nothing special" that I would custom frame. We had originally thought of doing three coordinting B&W photos here, but we have so many similar photographic groupings in the house, I liked that this was something different for us - abstract art. (But not too different that we don't like it.) Maybe I should stick with abstract art but look for print that I could have framed in a similar way to this piece, but without the clips and with a frame similar to what you suggest (a thin antiqued gold frame with a tiny bit of detail would fit in very well with our taste and other elements in the room).

I love some of these ideas--everyone is so creative here! I like both maddiemom6 idea of the hallway art rail and sujrfr's link to the art frame boxes. I think I might do something like maddiemom6's suggestion in our hallway for our youngest. Something I've done with my kids is to get them each a plastic filing tub at Office Depot and then I create a pendaflex art file folder for each year. All of the kids' school projects are put in a drawer in their room (the ones that are not on display in the house) and then at the end of the year we sift through the drawer and choose some of the favorite works of art or other projects and put them in the file folder in their filing tub. Other special momentos--awards, sports teams, girl scouts, certificates, etc. also get their own folder. Then when they are grown, I will give them the filing tub so they have their own memories. I love the idea of scanning everything, but just know I would never get around to organizing it all--plus this way they have some of the actual art work, poems, etc. which they created. Now oldest DS took a pottery class last year and came home with several pieces--he gave several out all out to his uncles/aunts this year who were thrilled to get a personalized piece of art from him.

I don't have a functioning camera right now to make an electronic photo file, but will remark that it is easiest inside a nice cabinet to use combinations of pex tubing and push to connect fittings such as Sharkbite brand (among many others) to avoid sweat soldering damage. All that is needed is a means to cut the pex to a clean flat end. Mistakes are easily remedied by using a different size piece of pex. Adapters exist to go from the pex to the fitting that dangling faucet hoses use. 3/8 poly line along with John Guest type push to connect fittings will be good for RO lines or such. Pex and poly are at their limit when used for pressurized water at boiling temperatures, so the hot water source in the house needs to be under some form of temperature control. A boiler type of water heater with potential for overshoot to 220 or so would be a risk in my view without a working moderator (required anyway by code). Some water chemistries tend to degrade the modulator so that needs to be kept in mind. My primary sink cabinet base includes garbage disposal and DWV plumbing, stand pipe for dishwasher hose, hot/cold feed for main faucet and to moderating valve for dishwasher (gets mix of hot and cold). Also there is the touch faucet control box, the fiber-optic garbage disposal control box, and quad electrical outlet. RO connection to both hot and cold sides of a pull-down faucet are present. All of the plumbing is mounted on stand-offs on the back or side walls of the cabinet base. kas
