cleaning grease off of an oven
Comments (8)Bread toasters, microwave ovens and the like are prone to grease and dirt and so it is important to take the time to clean them up after use to prevent further problems in the future. When used cooking oil is not properly removed, it can leave nasty stain on wall, oven pans and counter-tops. Much worse, when grease is stuck in drainage pipes, this can cause clogging. I hope that you have already solved your problem with your oven. Have a nice day!...See MoreRemoving Antique Grease from Stove Hood
Comments (5)2 years ago, i moved into a home last resided in by pigs and we had the same problem....caked on grease all over the kitchen (cabinets, counters, stove, hood, dishwasher etc...) we were finally able to replace the stove and hood, but until that time, we were in a war against all the gunk. we scrubbed and scrubbed and could barely make a dent in the grease until i went and bought one of those Hot Shot steam cleaners..it worked like magic!! i guess the superheated steam dissolved the grease, because i was finally able to get rid of that crud, even in the places that were hard to reach. the only other suggestion i have is that stuff called Greased Lightening...that seems to do a good job at degreasing....See MoreCleaning a Cabinet Hood
Comments (3)That's why you buy a decent blower and insert to go with the pretty pretty on the exterior. It's the guts that are important. And it's the guts that keep the nasties off of the rest of the kitchen, not just the hood surround. A good guideline is 100 CFM for every 1,000BTU of burner (oven and broiler count too), plus add more if there's a grill. And the ductwork should be large, and short. Don't forget makeup air. Trying to vent 1200 CFM through a hood without makeup air is like trying to suck up a strawberry milkshake through a straw that's blocked by a hunk of strawberry....See Moregrease on cabinets above microwave hood
Comments (10)Some OTR microwaves have a separate airflow path for cooling the microwave mechanism that always exits through a grill atop the unit. The intake grill may also be at the top (usually toward the right side where the magnetron is located). Grease from cooking that escapes the hood function could pass in and out through that cooling airflow path onto the above cabinetry. My GE has: A the cooling air intake, B the cooling air outflow, C the exhaust hood airflow (in recirculation mode, it's not externally vented). Air intakes at A and blows out of B when the microwave is cooking whether the exhaust hood function is on or off....See Morehsw_sc
