Baldwin &/or Emtek made in USA?
Comments (7)Emtek is owned by Assa Abloy who is quite possibly one of the largest door hardware manufacturers in the world. AS such I think you would be hard pressed to find out exactly where any of their products are actually manufactured but I do know they have a facility in Connecticut....See MoreDoor Hardware: Emtek, Schlage, or Kwikset
Comments (11)I don't actually have any firsthand experience with Emtek, but it appears to be good quality middle-range door hardware. I usually specify door hardware from Omnia, which makes very good architectural-quality hardware. I think it's probably a bit more more expensive than Emtek, but it's nowhere near the cost of stuff like Rocky Mountain Hardware, and some of the other brands that advertise heavily in the fancy design magazines. You can check out Omnia at their website: http://www.omniaindustries.com/ You can also compare prices on Emtek vs. Omnia at the website of Knobs and Things.com. They carry a wide range of both brands at competative prices (see the link below). One other bit of advise, if you're buying a whole house worth of door hardware, you might be better off letting your contractor place the order, unless you're willing to carefully think through every detail of every door. Door hardware is more complicated than most people think. You need to specify which hand, door thickness, offset, strike and type (privacy, passage, etc.). If the contractor makes a mistake, it's his problem. If you get it wrong, it's yours. I also recommend that you specify that all locks should be keyed the same. Then one key opens everything, so you don't have to find a different key for every door. James...See MoreInterior Door Handles - Baldwin or Emtek - Best Prices Where?
Comments (15)If anyone is interested these are the best prices that I found online for both handles so far. Emtek - http://decorglamour.com/ - $70.77 - Passage lock - was quoted locally $80.00 Baldwin - http://www.build.com/ - $54.25 - Passage Lock - was quoted locally $75.00 I'm looking at a total of 13 door handles(6 passage - 5 privacy and 2 full dummy) so buying online can save me quite a bit of money over buying locally. I haven't checked yet if the local place would price match, but guessing they wouldn't come down that low especially for the Baldwin lock. If anyone knows of a better price, let me know....See MoreClassic Brass , Emtek or Baldwin door hardware ?
Comments (1)I had a great experience with Emtek warranty. The replacement for my door hardware took a total of five days, from reporting scratching issues to the retailer to receiving the replacement. I've never used Baldwin, out of my price range. From Emtek: Finish Warranty: Polished Brass-Lifetime and Polished Nickel-Lifetime finishes carry a lifetime limited finish warranty. There is no finish warranty on Deep Burgundy, Flat Black Patina, Medium Bronze Patina, Polished White Bronze, Rust, Silver Patina, Tumbled White Bronze, and Unlacquered Brass finishes. All other finishes carry a five year finish warranty....See Morekateskouros
