I bought a set of clear stacking plates on the after Christmas sales. But you can make your own. I would use E6000 glue. Show us some pictures when you get one made.

I didn't want to permanently stick them together, so I used glue dots for scrapbooking. They work just fine.

I have used two-sided foam tape. It worked great. For DD's wedding we used ice-cream sundae cups for the pedestal and clear glass plates for the top. They were stuck together w/ the foam tape and filled w/ cupcakes on each table.

I got the stacking plates from Target ONLINE, the stores don't have them. And because I have cats, mine are glued together permanently. I use GE II for doors and windows, their clear silicone. I'm also on Garden Junk forum and most everyone uses it for glass stuff of all kinds. Weather doesn't faze it.
The top of my stack is also the ice-creme Sunday cup, from Walmart for a dollar.

They often have the boxed set of 3 stacking plates at Bed Bath and beyond and Linens and Things (at least in my area).

But if you have some seperate plates already you can (according to Christopher Lowe) glue them together temporairly with low temperature hot glue gun, if you want to take them apart then he says run the heat from a blow dryer over the glue seam, and it will loosen and you can peel away the glue and your plates, candlesticks etc will be seperated and just fine. And like Karen mentioned I got my sundae cup from Walmart.

Thanks ladies for all the information. I have sooo many odd plates and would like to attach them permanently because I too have a cat. Also I am thinking I would like to make these as gifts with some goodies on the plates. Purple moon what is GE II? Where would I find it? Now Im getting excited about starting on these. I have picked up several interesting candle holders to use as bases and want to pull out these beautiful dishes that are just now stored in boxes. I wish I could control myself but when I see a beautiful dish at a thrift or yard sale I just have to rescue it and take it home. Thanks for making me feel so welcome. Satine

I get my GEII at the local hardware store....it comes in a tube and is often found with the silicone caulks.

Thanks jaybird. Yes, I am definitely addicted to dishes. I remember my mother visiting the Salvation Army when Iwas just a child (many many years ago) and finding the most beautiful things. I have a pitcher and bowl set with the soap holder and smaller pitcher that she bought there at least 50 years ago. When my sister got married the wedding was held at my parents home and my mom scoured the thrifts until she found enough dinner plates to serve everyone at the wedding. Each of the dishes had a floral design and the center pieces for the tables were china sugar bowls with flowers that she arranged herself. The dishes were then used for my wedding 8 years later. Satine, I usually get the GE II at Walmart, but you need to check the date on it. Sometimes theirs is old and then its not good. I use to buy the small tube, but with all the glass stuff I make for my yard (totems especially), I got the big tube and calking gun. Much easier. Home Depot is where I got that. Its what folks use for mosaics too.

You are going to fit right in here. And if you love rescuing dishes, check out what you can do with them OUTside if you like the look of Totems. Tho some of the gals have them inside too. For plant stands. Also there is a cool Halloween one pictured.
I set up a Garden Junk for my other Forum with 15 albums and over 550 photos of saved "inspiration". But over there on GJ, the Totems are like the Stacked Plates here.
Addictive and way too much fun. And great way to save old dishes and give new purpose. Sunlight on the glass is gorgeous I think. We even make plate "flowers". They can be hung inside on a wall too.
