I am in the same situation. My plan is to use narrow, contemporary sconces so I can squeeze two in the center.

Thanks. The more I'm thinking about this, the more I'm wondering if this is going to work for me at all. There's a wall on the left side of our vanity, and it seems like even a narrow sconce is going to require us to push the mirror over enough for it to not be centered over the sink (unless it's very narrow).

I'll have to do some drawings tonight when I'm at home with the full vanity measurements to see how this is going to work....

My vanities aren't installed, but here are the sconces, one on each side and one in the middle of the mirrors.

Thanks! That's a cool arrangement, brutuses. If we had walls on both sides, I'd definitely consider that!

After looking everything over again with a tape measure, we've decided to just do lights above the mirrors. We'd prefer the nicer lighting from side sconces, but it just wouldn't allow us to have mirrors of a reasonable size while still centering them over the sinks. Oh well. Gotta make some tradeoffs in this process...

If you have room in the center of the two mirrors you could install a single and that would give you more even light also, in addition to the lights over the mirror.

I lived for the last 20 years with lights over the mirror and didn't see anything wrong with it. Then I learned side lights didn't cast shadows and since I'm over 50 I didn't need anything casting anymore shadows than what I already had. LOL. What do they say? 6 of one 1/2 dozen of another?? LOL

Make sure to post some photo's when you get everything up so we can see it.

Brutuses, Slightly off topic, but what is the length of your double vanity and how far is the center of each sink from the side wall? Our vanity will be only 75" long and the plan right now has each sink centered 16 1/2" from the side wall. DH did an elbow simulation recently and I think it will be very uncomfortable for him since the measurement from the center of his chest to his elbow end is 19 1/2". We could still change this. Any thoughts?

Are you saying the sconces on the side wall would be in his way? They shouldn't be as they are closer to the back wall than to the front of the vanity. Am I making sense?

We have 2 single vanities and I'm not sure of the measurements from the wall. It's about 16" or so from the bowl I believe.

would love some more pics too of the double sconces in the center.

Brutuses, The vanity we're installing is with two sinks in the 75" length. The CENTER of each sink is only 16 1/2" from the side wall. It sounds like you have 16" of counter top space plus the amount of space from the centerline of your sinks until you get to the side wall. That sounds to me like it would add up to at least 2' from the centerline of the sink to the side wall---plenty of elbowroom. I wasn't worried about bumping the sconces but rather bumping the wall with the elbow. Does that make sense? I asked because your layout looks very similar to mine.

wascolette, thanks for the compliment. The chandellier and sconces are Progressive Thomasville Roxbury Collection. They look a lot more expensive then they are. They are always on sale.

fls, I understand now. I thought the sconces were getting in the way. You're right, we have about 25" from the center of the vanity to the wall. I'm sorry, I was just trying to help you fit our husband, wall and sconces. LOL
