National Lighthouse Day table

Set this table last week for National Lighthouse Day.

The plate rims have images of sailing ships on the ocean.
The napkin rings are mini life preservers.

Candyshot:

The CP is a battery operated fountain that plays ocean sounds.

Literally everything on here is a thrift store treasure.

It reminds me of the song

The little glass beads are like sunshine glistening on ripples in the water.
wonderful table for late summer.
Candy You have the best TS treasures and know exactly how to use them to create a perfect table.

Where did you look to find out about National light house day?
I looked on a few sites and couldn't find anything interesting to do for August.

Nana, there is a website that I find by googling: holidays, the month, and 2014.
I think it comes up as holidayinsights.com.

It gives something for every day of each month.

It does seem as though you and I are the only ones posting much these days.
I know others have issues that are distracting, but few even visit, let alone, comment anymore. Maybe once summer is over, more will come back.

Lets hope so anyway.

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments. Jeanne, I'm sure I will have fun cleaning up the "fairy dust', I may leave it for St. Patrick's Day. The dishes sat on a shelf at the TS for months. [I bought the flat ware there previously]. when I decided to do this table I was glad they hadn't been sold. PM, thank you, Who would think our baby teeth could help make rainbows? Punk, I've wanted to do a table featuring all of the little fairies since I got them. I'm sure they will come out to play again! I think we have all had to make excuses for the Tooth Fairy. I was going to use candles on the table but the Fairies FREAKED OUT!!! they can't take the heat and open flames terrify them. And they are used to working and playing in the dark. Jane, I just learned about about National Tooth Fairy day too. I'm sure I'll use these dishes again. My daughter planned this letter to be the first in a series of short stories about the misadventures of Dentalina and her sisters. I hope some day she will finish them. Maybe the glitter AKA fairy dust will magically disappear back into the clouds HaHa. Nana

OA, I hope you win the lottery!!! lol! Like you and luckygal, I find it difficult to justify the expense of a luxury trip on the Orient Express. If air travel weren't so difficult now, it would be different too -- but that always weighs against any vacation planning for me these days. I'm another from a small village where AmTrak passes by (near the canal system), and the sound of the train and whistle is comforting to me. Passenger use is basically non-existent though -- due to the layovers and connections, the train takes at least 3 times longer than car/road travel to any given destination, and costs far too much for the inconvenience. There's talk of them possibly getting high-speed train service through here, and that would make a big difference. Now I wonder why it's only the 3rd National Train Day!?

Oh, those tiny frogs sound adorable. I'd have wanted to bring some home. LOL. It was 110 here today, but since it was Father's Day would you believe Jason and his Dad played golf! Well, Fred would have played no matter what!! But Jason decided to join him cause of F.D., after telling me a few weeks ago he wasn't going to play this summer. Have a feeling he won't the rest of it, LOL. He doesn't take the heat too well any more and drank so much Gatorade he wasn't feeling too good by the end of the round. I guess all those horrendous fires are nowhere near you? So devastating. Are you getting the smoke from them? I'd love to visit your basement, LOL. Karen, Mary, Nana, and Punk, My DM still lives in the house where I grew up. So once I got my own home, many of my childhood toys were "returned" to me, LOL. Some of the toys are still there as my DD's played with them when they went to Grandma's house and now the great grandkids have been able to enjoy them as well. Jeanne, you are a "stitch" yourself, using all those sewing terms in your post!! Quite the wordsmith! I actually was going to do a different table using a music box that looks like an old sewing machine that is covered with little mice, but I couldn't decide on the rest of the table. When I decided to use the little red machine, the table practically set itself! Thanks again ladies. You all brighten my day! Candy

I love the sailing themed table, Candy. The glass bubbles are a great addition and the life preservers as napkin rings are so clever.

I check this forum every week. I want to be more of a contributor, but access to my tableware has been problematic for a while as we have been making repairs to the house. I'm so tired of that process, but I know it has to be done. I hope the major tasks will be finished by Thanksgiving, but the process seems to move very slowly.

I really appreciate all of you who post here and enjoy your threads even if I don't comment on each of them. I'll try to do better about comments because I know it's disheartening to take the time to start a thread and garner no comments.

Fun, thank you! I'm sorry you are going through home repair issues, but glad you took the time to post.

So many people who used to post/comment are missing anymore, that it is disheartening.

It's kind of to the point that it feels like "nobody even looks or comments anymore, so why bother to post anything."

Shut Up! All from Thrift Shops....How cute is this!
Love how you put this together using the 'glass bubbles' and the Napkin Rings are perfect! Great Ocean Water color scheme. The Tablecloth and placemats set off the Ships on the Water Plates nicely. I have to say that your CP is Coolest! I thought it just lit up, which is a nice effect, but Playes Sounds of the Ocean ...how unique. Glad you found and brought it all home and created this fun table.
