Just bought a Swiffer VAC

Hi everyone. Well I finally found something that is so easy to use and works very well. The new Swiffer Vac. Same as the swiffer with those cloths that pick up and hold dust/hair, etc., but this one also has a button you push and it vacuums up cat litter and little pieces of stuff that won't cling to the cloth.

It's wonderful!!!!!! Very happy with it.

I used to swiffer, pushing the little crumbs of things into a pile and then getting the dust pan and sweeping those crumbs up. Not anymore!

Anyone else have one yet?

"just bought this commercial Snapper. It has the following information about the mower: Model on the engine is EH 180v020103374 Serial 1004159 I am excited to try this out as i have heard great things about the Robin engines and right now I have a Briggs Quantum 6.5. It struggles when the grass gets too tall with the Ninja blade mulching but does ok. Guess I want to try the Robin out and I had my chance to do so. " I'm not sure I understand why a mower with a Robin engine will be a better mower than one with a Briggs & Stratton. I would think that the design of the entire mower package would be a better indicator of whether it will turn long grass into short grass in an efficient manner. "The seller had to drain the oil to ship it. I was planning to put Mobil 1 10W30 in it. Any thought on this." I agree, it was a good idea to drain the oil before shipping. And yes, it would be a good idea to put oil in the engine before starting it. Whether you use Mobil 1 or not would be dictated by whether the previous owner had run it and how many hours were on the engine. If it's a high hour engine then running synthetic at this point might actually cause it to start leaking oil and loosen some sludge. "I put the Mobil 1 in my Briggs and vibration in handles seemed to improve. My hands don't go numb as quickly anymore. I think it feels a little stronger too. I am ready for the Robin engine though and it also has the Commercial Aluminum Deck and bagger compared to my Hi-vac. I know when it comes to mowers like so many things you get what you pay for." Well, yes as a general rule I suppose so. If a homeowner buys a commercial grade mower he may not really reap the full benefit though. A commercial mower is built to deliver full-time use week after week for years. Most homeowners won't use 10% of the useful life of a commercial machine so they are paying for capacity that will never be used. Most homeowners would be better served with a good quality consumer grade machine that has controls and features appropriate to housold use. Most of us really don't need a 1 gallon fuel tank on their mower. "My other Snapper has worked fine but I am looking to upgrade to a lifetime mower. So once my other Snapper Arrives I will soon be selling my other Snapper if anyone is interested let me know." I am thinking more in the line of a tiny shop vac. Something small that I can carry in my hand, not run on floor like a stick vac. Which is why the Kone thing was great but just not big enough dirt cup. What I really need is a contraption that is built into the baseboards that when the door opens it sucks really hard, pulling all the hairs floating on my wood floors and into the door. That would be cool. When I lived in Atlanta my house had a whole house fan. When on, all the hair would come to middle of house, wood floors, and ball up. Simply take vac and suck up. My house now is two story and so the whole house fan does not work like the one in my old single story. I guess I could always move back- lol! Thanks for the hints. I do use a broom and then vac when I have to do a total clean but for the inbetween days I just need to suck up a few here and there. Maybe I could shave my dog? Wonder how a shephard would look shaved? He might not let me take him for walks anymore. hmmm

Can I do a toe kick vac without a central vac system?

You can do the mini-central vac system - which is a shop vac hooked up to a toe kick vac-pan. If you have a crawlspace under the kitchen - it is pretty easy and cheap to do. They talk about it in the kitchen forum. The vac-pan has a low voltage switch so you could use a relay but it is easier to install a wall switch near the pan and just leave the vac-pan open. The vac pans are pretty hard to open anyway if they are in a toe kick. Turning on the switch would be just like hitting the switch for the garbage disposal. You can buy a $50 shop vac for this purpose.

I like the Swiffer sweeper. It's very handy for picking up dust and lint. Just not heavy stuff. I will never use the wejet again though. It made my cat very, very ill. It is well documented with our vet, and our poor cat suffered for a long time with bleeding paws and general illness for almost a year until we figured it out. We had his euthanasia booked and paid for. Then my son suggested the wetjet was the problem, and we stopped using it, and cancelled the euthanasia. He got better within two weeks, but remained scarred for the rest of his life. But the dry one is a dream.

I just saw the commercial on tv last night and was wondering how much it could pick up; if it's decent, I'll get one for quick pickups....thanks for posting.

Mine was bought at our local grocery store - my daughter bought it, can't reember if she said $30 or $40. BUT I'd pay $60 for it. I adore it. I mean it, it's the best thing I've found for bare floors.

Anyone know if they are available in Canada, for example in Wallmart?
Sounds really wonderful. Next month we're moving into a house that has almost all bare floors and I have been wondering what would be best to use - remember the old dust mops?.

I've been searching on the net. Are these a Dirt Devil stick vac that the swiffer cloth attaches to? Do you then take the cloth off to vac up the rest of the debris? I have a Hoover Quik stick vac and I'm wondering if the swiffer cloths or even the Magic Blue cloths would work with it or any other stic vac. This is sure a wonderful forum. thanks everyone, ivamae

Lynne, it's like a dust buster, remember those? You keep it plugged into an electrical outlet to keep it charged....then you just use it cordless to vacuum.

I just saw them advertised last night on tv. If they have been recalled, why would they still be advertising? They even mentioned the $6 coupon that is available.
There must be a story here somewhere...

Went to "site" and yes they have been recalled and no indications as to when they will be available again. Dadgumit!! I'm in the process of having hardwood floors refinished and this would be the perfect tool for taking care of them. Well, maybe Swiffer will get their act together and take care of the problem & get them back on the market! Here's hoping!!!
