Chest Freezer is Cold & Wet on Top

Hello,

A quick question about our chest freezer....I'm sorry I don't have the brand/model.

It is a fairly small freezer, maybe 8 years old. Lately, we've occasionally noticed that the top is wet and very cold to the touch. Normally, it feels about room temperature and dry.

We left a folded blanket on top of it a few days ago (it is in the basement, near our washer and dryer), and when I went to get the blanket this morning, I found it was soaking wet.

I thought perhaps it had something to do with its proximity to the washer and dryer, however, we haven't used the washer and dryer for the last four days.

The inside of the freezer is as cold as usual, doesn't have any frost buildup inside, and is packed full.

What could be causing this?

Thanks,

Kim
