That is good to hear Grace. As my current fridge is 31 years old and appears will never quit on its own, with the upcoming kitchen reno I've splurged on appliances almost as much as the cabinetry. I was originally planning for JA SS but the appliance store guys talk about the cleaning, dinging & scratch issues of SS in general and their wildly enthusiastic endorsement of the BFG for easy care & spectacular looks swung my vote. The only reservation I've had is that my cabinets will be dark brown stain and have pondered that they wouldn't look all that great together. Finished kitchen photos with dark cabinets certainly have more 'pop' with the SS. On the other hand the FG reflects back what is around it so the light floor & counter tops will hopefully add some of the lightness back in to the mix. I wonder why they are so rare in the marketplace? Have they just not caught on yet? I don't know how long JA have been marketing the FG collection. Will it take being used extensively in the kitchen magazines & TV shows for them to become mainstream? Or, as my mind wanders the labyrinth of appliance choices, may they like the Edsel car disappear from the appliance landscape for being so different.

It's funny, a2gemini. I originally was going to buy an Electrolux fridge until I started reading reviews - I remember a miz lizzy in particular. This was a while ago but you get this vision in your head that has water leaking on the soon to be installed hardwood, or a fridge full of food going bad a week after the warranty runs out and you say no way. Then you start to pick other contenders and low and behold they get nasty reviews too. Lol, I think I picked the Bosch partly because I can't find ANY reviews! I do know this. Anything will be better (storage wise, and big/bulky wise than what I have now- which btw is a rebadged electrolux/Frigidaire SxS. One of the things I hate about this one (other than what's mentioned above) are the wire racks in the freezer that keep falling off the rails. And guess what? The bosch has wire baskets too. I haven't seen an elux in a long time but I do remember the drawers in the fridge section were very smooth and easy to pull out. What's the freezer like? I did like the fridge portion of the bosch as well. Oh, and thanks for your post hvtech. It reminded me to call the store and ask who services the appliances and about extended warranties.

Mollie, I have the KA KBLS20ETSS and like it alot. It has a bottom freezer and the fridge opens to the side instead of the french door type. After having the side opening door, I can't imagine the inconvenience of having to open two doors. I love opening it with one hand and everything is right there at eye level. The only drawback is there is no ice through the door- which I thought I would really miss but the water that comes from the inside dispenser is icy cold and tastes great. The ice maker makes tons of ice but it takes up alot of freezer space. We do have a small refrigerator in the basement, so I haven't had a problem with the limited freezer space. The bottom freezer does force you to be very organized and clean it out regularly. I hope this helps.

Extending the stiles refers to widening them. If your stiles are, say 2" wide each, you may have an option of widening them to, say 2 1/2" each. Therefore your 36" cabinet is now 37" as you've added a total of 1" to the total width. While this is an option, you will also need to consider that widening the stiles does not widen the cabinet box. When installing the cabinet between tall gables or tall gable and wall, you will need spacers to match the widened stiles or have the cabinet box flush with the outer edge of the stiles in order to attach the cabinet properly. Counter depth typically means it is closer the the 25" of the counter. It does not automatically mean it will work for a built in. Counter depth fridges are typically taller as well in order to keep the storage capacity. When it comes to building in the fridge, try to find a model where the doors hinge open in line with the fridge box width. If the doors hinge outside of the box, your doors will need to be proud of the tall gables on either side. Otherwise they will bind against the tall gables or, you will need a greater gap between the gables to accommodate the wider swing which will detract from the built in look you're trying to achieve.
