Those are really cute!! Depending on the fabric, they would be adorable for any holiday or occasion! You did a wonderful job with them!

Wouldn't they be darling on a candy tree or swag? So tell us more details please? Is the base styrofoam or wood or posterboard? Looks like you used fabric, but maybe pretty scrapbooking papers might work too???? Where did you find the pretty white sticks? Inquiring minds wanna know! ;o)

I used 2" and 2 3/8" round plain wood circles for the base, which I got at Michaels. They are about 1/4" thick. The directions said to paint both sides white as well as all around the edges. I did paint the edges on each one, but on some I painted the sides but didn't on others. You don't have to use white paint, you can match the paint color with the fabric or whatever you use.

For the first one on top I used a metallic gift wrapping paper. I put the wood circle on the back side and traced 2 of them, then cut both out. I glued them on using tacky glue. I did the same with the yellow/white polka dots and striped one. But for those I used some scrapbooking paper I had. The rest are fabric, which I used wonder under to fuse them onto the circles.

I bought a 1/8" dowel rod and cut 4 1/2" sticks, and painted them white. Very carefully, I drilled a small hole to insert the stick into the wood circles (I added glue so they would stay in). Drilling the holes was not part of the instructions, it's what I wanted to do. The book said glue 1" of the stick onto the circle.

For the wrapper, I used clear cellophane paper. I used a large dinner plate and my small rotary cutter to cut around the plate. Centered the lollipop onto this paper and brought it all together at the bottom, using a small piece of floral wire to hold it in place before putting on the bow. I used 1/4" wide ribbon for the bows (14-15"). I really didn't measure the ribbon for the hanger, but that is glued onto the back of the lollipop.

I reread the instructions. It said to paint only one side of the circle white along with the edges. According to the book, the white painted side is where you glue the white stick onto, and the fabric goes on the unpainted side. I was wondering how you would fuse fabric over 1" of the stick. I'm glad I did it my way and covered both sides, and drilled the holes. Who wants to turn it over to see a plain white back?

No way did I hold those small circles in my hand when drilling those holes. I had something that I think is called a clamp(?) and used that to hold onto the circles while drilling the holes. They are very hard to squeeze open. I think you could do hand exercises with the things..lol.

Perfect for a Candyland tree! Very neat job!

Luvs, I think I have seen those. Thanks for reminding me, I think I'll make a few of them. If I keep making ornaments I'm going to have to buy another tree...lol. I have too many now. When we go to the beach each summmer we stop at a Christmas store and I always buy 3 or 4 new ornaments. That's along with all the others I've made over the years. Plus, ones the kids have made and are now grown but I still put their ornaments on my tree every year. So I'm sure you can guess my tree doesn't have a theme. It has a little bit of everything. I have 2 large clear plastic bins with lids that have nothing but Christmas fabric. I tell you, it gets overwhelming sometimes when it comes to deciding what to make and which fabric to use.

Donna, we can help you use up some of your fabric stash. In between holidays here, we love to do pretty tablescapes. Just think of the placemats and napkins you could make to go with your dishes! Then there's also table runners, chair cushions, chair back covers, tea pot cozies, etc. etc. etc. LOL

Do you remember the fabric scrap wreaths? I made a huge one on a straw base, you just cut squares of fabric and pinned them onto a straw wreath. Then another one was fabric squares gathered on one of those U pins and pushed into the wreath so it looked like a "puff". I think I have a couple of those still around here. They were fun and easy to do, and a good way to use up leftover scraps of fabric.

Do you like to quilt too? Have you made any wall hangings? Some of those are so neat. You can probably tell that I love talking about crafts and seeing all the great things people create. I've had lots of fun exploring some of the blogs, so many creative people out there!

Back after a long gardening break but had to see if Christmas was getting started :) - love the lolipops - gonna do some for this year. I bet you could use the white sticks that are used in candymaking for the lolipop sticks also. Thanks for the idea and now am off to find other threads .......

proserity66, they take no time at all to make, but I guess that depends on how many you want to do and what other projects you have planned between now and Christmas. I've made 12 all lollipops so far and still have plenty of wood circles and dowel sticks to do more!

I hope I'll have plenty of time to do it (while I'm overbusy these days, lol). Fortunately (or not) there's almost nothing interesting on TV those last months and evenings are sometime boring watching all those "CSI" and other "Cold Case" episodes over and over again.
Spending time making decorations would be more productive, I think - and I'll have some fun by the way ;-))

Very nice ornaments! They would be nice on my sugar and spice tree. This would be a good idea to make some garland with lots of different shapes of candy. I could use yarn and cardboard. I even can string ribbon to look like ribbon candy. Get idea, thanks!
