Pics of marble in baths (particularly backsplashes) please?

I'm redesigning again due to a dishonest fabricator. We picked out a lovely marble (Crema Marfil Select in 3cm) for the countertops but I'm thinking maybe of taking it up to the cabinets above the sink (they're hutch style). Or no backsplash...or a curved one...

Does anyone have any to show for ideas?

Hey igloo - been following your tile install pics that you posted in TKO land - OH how I love your shower!! Anyway, flipped over here to see if you'd posted any others and saw this thread. I don't know if these help or are what you're looking for but thought I'd post them in case. We just spent a long weekend in NYC at the Ritz on Central Park and I loved the vanity that we had in our suite so I took pics for my files (sad, aren't we?). Here's two shots:

This is a roughout of my vanity areas. I'm thinking of putting marble inside the framed in area behind my sink (bigger vanity) and taking it to the top cabinet in DH's vanity as well. Actually his would go a bit behind his cabinet even because we have a funky wall there that sticks out 1 1/4 inch for the top 9 inches (kind of a soffit type thing). I was going to hide it with cabinet..but I'm thinking marble going up behind the cabinet would look great as well. Then I'd have to think about what to do on his left hand side which is a wall..perhaps a little backsplash with a bit of curving to match the oge edge on the counters...

I'd have to hang the mirrors from the marble...

I think I have to go home and measure it all out. I called the marble folks and they will hold a second slab for me so I can decide when I get home (DS is going to the hospital in Seattle for a week).

By the way...the croc comes in black, brown and a gorgeous ivory...and it was cheap really (ok relatively considering every thing else I purchased LOL) $12.50 sq ft with shipping (which is quite high here).

ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT OTHER BATHS: I've been focusing on the master bath so much that I've neglected the other baths. For the other baths, we will have the same faux porcelain tile on the floor (straight set) and in the tub/shower (straight set). There will be shower curtains so no glass. Same cabinets and countertop as above. I was just going to do the standard 4 inch granite backsplash, but now I'm wondering if I should do something different. BUT I want it to be low maintenance and inexpensive. Keep in mind one of the baths is a kids bath and will have a lot of use. Wow. Such great ideas! Love the tiles from sonoma. I am really embracing the idea of blues now, especially the delft. My everyday dishes are blue and white. After looking through a few of my inspiration magazines and photos from when I started all this, the ceramic and blue seems to fit right in with my overall long-term decor theme. I found something blue to put there to help me visualize how well it works, and I think it does! You guys are brilliant! So, IÂm thinking maybe some dark brownish/red field tiles along the inner sides of the cabinets and as a background surrounding perhaps a rectangular insert of blue and cream patterned tiles like in some of boxerpupsÂ images above. What do you think? Or would that be too contrasty? I wish I were better at photoshop. Also, what about adding wood corbels under the 2 side cabs? Would that help anchor the hood or just look silly?

palimpsest your link didn't work but I googled the sinks. They are beautiful but probably too pricey given the investment we've already made in plumbing. I'll ask my plumbing person to look into getting me a good price. Thanks! bostonpam the faucet cannot be mounted on the side because the sink is too long and the faucet would be over the cabinet and there would be no way to accommodate plumbing. That was the first suggestion we tried. sprtphntc, I was and am definitely very happy with Imperial. I was going to email and thank you for recommending them today when I had time. So, thanks :) oldbat2be, the TV is actually in the mirror. Like this except we have a frame for our mirror that matches our cabinets. The TV disappears when not in use and it just looks like a mirror:

HI Fori, it has been a couple days since we've installed the tile so we are sure they are dry by now. Here is another picture of our tile before grout vs. after grout under the same lighting/brightness conditions; Also thanks for the advice, I'll also post it in the bathroom section and see if that helps as well.

igloo - April sure has gone by quickly...I knew you were going to Seattle for the first part of May - hope all goes well...what hospital will he be at? My mom had a recurrence of breast cancer (3rd time) and moved from her home in WI to move in with my sister in Bellevue to get her treatments at Swedish Hospital - all seems to be going well and she's very happy with the care there in Seattle. You will all be in my prayers...

As for the bath, nope, not mine but I WISH!! However, at nearly $2,000 a night, it better have been a beauty! My boys thought I was nuts to take pics of it but the vanity and mirrored shelving/niches along the sides with the inset mirror in the marble up the back was just to die for! The silk fabric covered walls trimmed in mouldings were pretty nice as well (yep, silk in the BATHROOM!)

For yours, I think the marble up to the top will be stunning! What about using a piece on your DH's left wall similar to the back and sides of a dry sink? I did something similar on the back of my powder vanity - the picture looks funny (out of proportion somehow) but you'll get the idea:
