Is this something they are making themselves, or are they buying them from Roomba. It looks very similar and its behavior looks very similar to Roomba on the video.

Hmmmm, Our Roomba will not "pick up" sauer Kraudt, I wonder if the Miele will?

We are yet to hear from real users on how their robot performs. I haveN't yet seen any robo vac that performs any better than Roomba.

That Scout is going to have a hefty price tag. I wonder if it can sense stairs so it doesn't go tumbling down?
Sounds pretty sophisticated but will be interested to see the reviews.

The description of the Miele's navigation software is very interesting and if it works as efficiently as they explain it would be a big improvement over my Roomba.

At least over here, it sells for about the same as some of the Neato models. Are there still vacuums left that don't sense stairs? The Miele also senses walls before bumping into them - most of the time.

Interesting, but apparently Miele can't use virtual walls because iRobot holds all patents, they use "magnetic strips" instead . I don't think it's a good alternative.

I couldn't see miele rebadging a roomba, it doesn't seem to be their way of doing things. I'm betting that it is probably pretty good as far as robot vacs go.

I have heard the latest roombas are improved but my older pet series (cant recall model number) I dont find to be fantastic. My wife seems to like it more than I do. It doesn't matter much now tho that we have a hide a hose central vacuum system.ÃÂ I know didferent beasts, but the hide a hose makes it so easy and convenient to uae that we dind the roomba isnt put into service all that often anymore.

About six months into the release of Miele Scout RX1, I now feel more confident to comment on the performance of this robot. Being a reputable appliances brand, Miele coming up with a robot vacuum was an exciting thing, indeed. Now, it looks like to me that Scout RX1 is just another automatic cleaner rather than one that could challenge the Roomba as the best robot vacuum and the only major improvement it has over Roomba 880 is the lack of noise. In fact, anyone who is used to the constant sound that comes out of a Roomba when it is working, will immediately notice that Miele is surprisingly silent. But with part of that being due to the weaker suction as per accounts from people who tried it, Scout RX1 turns out to be less than amazing. I still believe it is one of the better robot vacuums that actually work rather than go get stuck on the nearest carpet but the premium price tag is just not justified given what it has to offer.

I've had a Neato XV-14 for over 2 years ago and love it. According to reviews when I bought it, it has much stronger suction than Roomba, so is better for carpet which I still have a lot of (until I remodel). It's not perfect, but the fact that I don't have to do any of the work and yet have CLEAN FLOORS ALL THE TIME makes up for a lot for me! Especially since I have a dog and a little boy who brings the whole sandbox home a couple times a day.

The Neato got my carpet much cleaner than my Miele Flamenco canister with Turbo (non-powered brushroll), partly because Neato has stronger suction but maybe more because Neato moves over the floor more slowly than any human pushes a vacuum cleaner. After running Neato every day for a week or so, my carpet was an entirely different color.

Neato senses stairs just fine. It uses magnetic strips as barriers, and these work great. It tried to climb the tubular frames of my baby swing and jumpers, so I had to move those for it to clean efficiently. The firmware upgrade may have improved its handling of those items.

It's just about my favorite thing I ever bought.

Where is this Meile vac made? If it is made in korea it is likely a rebadged iclebo arte. The miele one looks awfully similar to the arte.
I bought this model as a cheaper alternative to a roomba, but was disappointed to say the least. I now have a roomba 880 and an very happy.
It would be a huge disappointment in Miele if they are simply rebadging some third rate robot vacuum and charging a huge premium for it.
