Monday morning hello

Good morning all, hope you had a good weekend. Last week was not so good with Betty's DH's accident and Judith's surgery, even our friend Bebe aka Painting Fool had to have kidney stones removed--twice!

Did anyone do any shopping? Find anything fun to share pics of with us? Yachter should be starting to hit those yard sales soon--I always look forward to seeing her finds.

We know Kathleen has been planting lots and lots of pretty flowers--bet she's got some sore muscles! She'll sure have some pretty pics to share when they all fill in.

I've been doing some trimming and fertilizing, reseeding, etc. myself. Still have one flower bed that needs to be cleaned up. Grass and weeds want to grow in it better than the plants do! ;o(

I've also been sorting out and rearranging a bit in the house. Have a box started of items I really don't use so I can take them to GW. I seem to fix up one area only to make a mess in another area! Does that happen to you too? One thing just leads to another? Today, I want to change my vignette on my buffet. Can't quite decide if I want sand and shells, or something with a bird & flowers theme. I'll take pics and share if it turns out okay.

Even if you don't have a pretty pic to share, please join in and chat at least. I miss you all when I don't hear from you. No matter how busy I get, I always sign on here at least once a day to see what's going on. Feel so sad when there are no new posts. ;o(

Too hot today, can't work outside..
I hope things are improving for J and Betty. Prayers to them both..
I will post some pics....nothing special, but we are slow here!

Luvs, you and I must have been in the same mode over the weekend. I wanted to organize all my sets of dishes, candle holders, and other accessories instead of having them in different areas all over the house. It took me all wknd and I had a mess everywhere but now feel so good about what I accomplished....now if only it would stay that way! It only seems to take one spur of the moment dinner party and my stuff goes every which way.

Hope Bebe, Judith and Alfred are all doing better too!

Just gorgeous! I love looking at your posts because I figure what does well for you will probably do well for me also. I looove flower pics with rain drops on them. I set out seedlings in the vegetable garden. It was cool and cloudy and we got a little shower, but it was not enough to dampen my planned projects. (We were supposed to have clear skies and temps in the mid-70s. Surprise! Felt like late March. But the sun came out from time to time. I cleaned out grass (Bermuda) from around flowers and cut back over-zealous daylilies that hung over a rose bush; hauled wheelbarrows full of wood chips and mulched several places, Chased a crabby 3 ft large snake with my rifle in hand, but he eluded me, twice; we both mowed and used the grass trimmer in different areas; cut lower limbs off some of the cedars; found several more Morel mushrooms (HUGE ones!); watered; pulled weeds; trimmed back the Bridle's wreath hedges; tilled up a large space for more veggies over by the Champagne grapes and dug out Bermuda that stubbornly insists on growing there; took pictures of my irises (oh, so lovely this year); pulled weeds out of the iris bed along the back edge of the back yard; We had a band gig on Saturday night, had a blast, but worn slap out! We got home around 3 a.m. Got booked for a two-day Biker's Rally in two weeks. We're talking long hair, beards, Harley Hogs & BMWs, lot of Leather and Doo-Rags! That should be a real trip! Yippee! Next day, we worked outside most of the day. took the "Boys" for their morning walk in the meadow and inspected the wildflowers to see what was going to bloom and if the seeds I sowed had sprouted-and they have; and cleaned up after the chicks about ten times...sat out on the patio with DH and talked about things...he is nearly done with the clearing and fencing around our 3 acres and said (to my shock and delight) that he was going to turn the middle bedroom into a large bath and move the laundry up out of the basement (for me) and it will go in there. The old bath space will be our new walk-in closet and hall closet for towels and linens. Can it be true???? We finished up the mowing and trimming. Got cleaned up and went to WalMart in the evening, got three new movies and went to Mazzio's for pizza and salad! Man! We had a very FULL weekend! Gee! When you write it all down, you really feel like you've gotten a lot done!!! Makes me feel better already. Thanks for asking Memo! It isn't always that productive and fun. Hi everyone, I am soooo proud of myself. I sewed a super hero costume today for the little GD. Just need to measure her waist to cut and insert the elastic in the waist and check the length before I hem the legs. It wasn't easy--my machine decided to act up on me and skip stitches. Two trips to the repair shop and it's now running like new. My little GD drew me a picture of what she wanted and I found a pajama pattern on sale that I adapted to make the costume. (Darn, I was shocked at the price of patterns now! Can tell I haven't sewn in years!) I am so keeping my fingers crossed that it will fit right and is what she wanted! Anj, thanks so much for the two sites. I loved seeing Marie's painting. I have allot of patterns similar to the ones she does. Loved the metal wastepan and the lunch boxes. She showed pictures of her shop, and it looks so neat. Can you believe she says all her lettering is not traced or stenciled--just done with her brush! Fantastic! I had watched a couple of Youtube videos about that program on the other site--supposedly you can use the Surecutsalot program for $75 and you can use any fonts from your computer and can even download pictures to cut out on the Cricut. That site offers $10 off so that would be a good deal. I may decide to try it after I learn how to do things on my machine. Did I tell you that I got it for only $84.99 on sale at Joanne's? I really think the small one will do all that I will need. DH says I can't open it until my birthday! ;o( I can hardly wait. I decided to not try to paint the letters on the blocks I have ready--I'll use them for my first project using the Cricut. Now I'll be searching for the best prices on scrapbooking papers and craft vinyl and more cartridges --one purchase leads to another and another and another! LOL I think your grocery savings is fantastic, Anj! Wow! I know my DIL followed some forum on the Internet for awhile and was stockpiling and saving all kinds of money on items. She said keeping track of what coupons she had on hand was the hardest part and she isn't doing it quite as faithfully now. I've always heard that if you could build your weekly menus using the specials from the store ads, you could save. Sounds like you have the best of both things going for you. ;o) Belle, I'm so sorry you feel like a pin cushion! Guess it's sometimes a process of elimination trying to figure out what is going on. So glad the boys came over and got your yard in shape. I'm sure they had a good time doing it together and laughing and chatting--and gulping down your yummy cookies! ;o) Punk, doesn't it feel good to get things cleared out and organized? I have such a hard time parting with things for fear I'll wish I had them later. I've enjoyed seeing your tables--so nice your kids are gifting you with dishes to "play" with. ;o) What kinds of things are you looking forward to painting? Anything for Easter? Although you will want to start putting stuff away, resist the temptation until all work that could cause dust, including drilling for knobs and pulls, is done. (Not sure if you have a walk in pantry or pantry cab.) You will have a plywood topped cabinet pretty soon, so you can leave stuff on top of the cabs if you want, but again, beware of the dust. Expect that the installer will work for 5 full days, or more, to do it right -- make sure that everything fits nicely, cut trim & filler pieces as needed on site, etc. Expect to feel huge joy & relief because it means you are more than halfway through the project! Expect to post pix so we can check it out :)

Luvs, DD, glad you had a productive weekend. Way to go. I know I feel so much better...mentally anyway...if I can organize the clutter. The gremlins must play in my garage cause it doesn't stay organized very long tho. The past week has been awful for some of our friends here. And my BF was scheduled to see about knee surgery this Thurs, but she fell yesterday and badly broke her right wrist and now MUST have surgery on it immediately. So she's really a mess. I just can't believe this. Some GOOD news would be a nice change!!

I was supposed to go to a dog show on Sat but couldn't. My dad fell (again), is ok but I was afraid to leave him to go to N.AZ. Would have been gone 6 hrs. Also my back has been really bad the last week so good thing I stayed home anyway. I just wanted to go cause it's my last show till mid Sept. And my Lacey just needs one win to get her Championship.

Only shopping I've done is eBay, and am being pretty good at not getting much. Got another pair of pretty birds for my collection.

Its supposed to be about 107 most of this week, so dogs and I can't even enjoy going out several times daily for ball games. Short one in the mornings, and longer one after sun goes down. They are bored and its going to be a loonnggggg summer, as usual. I LOVE being outside and this time of year really stinks for me. Tho my back and right leg are so bad, don't know that I could DO anything. LOL.

Luvs, I know what you mean about checking for new posts. I do that several times a day. Worried about Betty's husband, hope Judith is doing ok after her surgery, and also wondering about Prosperity. Her neck was really bad and she's barely posted much the last few weeks.

Karen, sorry you are not feeling well, and that is awful about your friend.
It is very hot here for this time of year, but they say it will break tomorrow.
Luvs keeps us going. I added another setting to the A few things post, but it is just 2 of us, so I don't get too crazy with the settings! It was too hot to work outside, so I did a black, white and red setting...
I need a trip to the bargain store to see what they have...no more room though, it is sad!

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear about everyone's health issues.

Me, I haven't been doing very much in terms of holidays or tablescapes. And the thrifts don't have a whole lot in them at the moment. I also haven't really been making my rounds, though, due to weekend weddings and just conserving on gas.

And I've pulled together three big bags of clothes to donate to the thrift stores, and I have more ahead of me.

I'm also planning to FINALLY start placing my extra unneeded dishes on Ebay or possibly Etsy, as a part of little vintage gift baskets. I really have to clear things out-- my clutter is beginning to really annoy ME. :)

Anyway, that's where things stand here.

I hope things will get better for those who are injured, in the hospital or recovering... Good grief, this season seems to have been rough on Holidays folks.

We are so lazy at our house! DH fell last week and is pretty badly bruised, but not broken....then on Friday I came down with the flu.......dang..............I usually get sick in the winter, but this summer stuff is the pits!!
We rared back in our recliners all weekend and yesterday. Posey cat has a trail made back and forth over the end table, from one recliner to the other. She had to get up on our chests and look us eyeball to eyeball to see what in the world was the matter!! We finally staggered out this morning to our various pursuits. Bet Posey will have a great day catching up on her naps since her patients are finally gone!!

So good to hear what each one of you have been doing. Although not so happy to hear about Karen's pain and Jaybird's flu, hope you both feel better soon.

Kathleen, YOU keep us going. I love all the dishes you have. Sure wish I had room for more and a hubby who would actually like to sit at a pretty table to eat on them!

DD, I keep trying to stash my "extras" in different places. Just can't decide where the best place would be--wish it could all be in one cabinet/cupboard so easy to find. Right now, my china cabinet looks terrible to me--all stuffed with dishes, pitchers, vases, etc. I've got to do some rearranging and make it look pretty again. How I'd love one of those walk in pantries with lots of shelves!

News from Betty is good, just a miracle that her DH survived that accident. And it is not like Prosperity to not come by to chat. She must still be in pain otherwise I'm sure she would be on here.

Jenn, I've gone to your blog a few times to check how/what you're doing. I'm not finding much worthwhile at our TS lately either--and their prices are getting ridiculous. I know it is going to be really hard for you to part with some of your treasures--but I also know what you mean about the clutter bothering you. Sometimes we just have to clear out some here and there. I have a box started for items to donate and am adding to it as I run across things I no longer like/use. I'm so bad about keeping things--either because someone gave it to me, it used to belong to a relative/friend, or I USED to like it! Sometimes have to just admit that I either need to box it up and put in storage--or bite the bullet and get rid of it! LOL

I feel for Karen and Kathleen with those hot temps! I'm dreading those too. When it gets so hot, I tend to do like Jaybird did while sick and just veg out on the couch in front of the television and wait it out! LOL

Off to read other posts. TTYL
