Post Flag Day/Pre 4th of July table

I created a table for Flag Day but was out of town working a trade show so couldn't post until now.

I had the plates, but found the matching glasses and 2 settings of flag flatware at Habitat TS last Wed.

The salad plates were from one TS, 3 of the dinner plates were from a GdWl and the last dinner plate was from a different Gdwl, all last year, except the last dinner plate.

The white chargers, blue tablecloth, red napkins, napkin rings, flatware, plates, and candleholders are all TS. The red white and blue flowers are from DT as are the blue goblets. The little flags are from Wal- Mart.

So hope your Flag Day was great and that your July 4th will be "a real firecracker!" LOL

Wow Candy, I'm lovin' your Flag Day/Pre 4th of July table. So nice you found matching glasses and flatware for your dinnerware. The napkin rings and all the stars are so pretty on your table. Neat rose cp.

Wonderful job as usual setting this red, wht and blue ts. I have one of the lg plates but haven't found any more to match. Guess I better get out there and SHOP.

The firecrackers have just began here. Stands going up all over.

Candy, Your table is perfect for Flag Day, or 4th of July.
I'm always amazed at your TS finds.
I love it all, especially the flag flat ware, blue candle holders and napkin rings.

Hi Karen, Here's my 4th table. I was in the middle of getting ready for 23 guests and took these in a bit of a hurry. I set the tables early in the morning and then cover them with sheets to keep the dust off until the guests arrive - hence the table you see with the sheet. The glasses were short-lived items that were sold at USA Gas Filling Stations. I don't know if there are any in operation anymore. I do remember that there was quite a controversy, as they used to fly a huge American Flag over their gas stations. They kept the flag flying, even after nightfall and many people were upset about it. At any rate, I've picked up a big collection of them - all from garage sales. Haven't see any in years and years though. I didn't have enough of my new Pfaltzgraff star plates to use with such a big crowd. Maybe next year.

Wow, can I be your gramma too? Everything is beautiful and sounds like alot of fun! The photos with all the lights and flags are stunning. So many wonderful flower beds, pool, home theater, fire pit and 300 tea lights! I'm surprised you have enough energy left to celebrate.LOL Great shot of the kabobs on the grill. Anyone's feelings for "The country" and any patriotism about it should be unaffected by the doings or positions of any temporary politician/office holder. The country is diverse and is the same from year to year, no matter who's in office and no matter what the government does or doesn't do. If you love the country, you should also respect the diversity of views (without needing to agree with them). That's a concept many don't understand or want to deal with. The frequency of Americans' overt expressions of patriotism, along with the same of overt religiousity, are two things about the US that many Europeans find puzzling. Most people around the world (other than political dissidents, and often even them) have affection and pride for their countries, they just don't feel the need to express them publicly or as frequently as Americans do. The flag represents everyone and every point of view, not just one's particularly favorite position.

We live on a large lake year round and fly both a US flag and an Earth flag at all times. We also have a rainbow flag, the Jolly Rodger, several state flags and Tibetian prayer flags that are flown at various times, depending on the weather and my ambition level. Despite being a progressive, leftie super liberal who holds disgust and hate in my heart for many of the US elected officials, I believe in the US and believe we as a nation could (and should) do much better in terms of how we treat the rest of the world, women, LGBTQ persons, minorities, the poor, immigrants and prisoners (to name a few), I keep going back to what my late father always said "Our system is flawed, but it's the best there is, and only the laziness of our citizens will cause it to fail". Personally I think a few more Scandanavian principles would be in order, but overall, I have to agree with him, take marriage equality, which only a few years ago seemed far from our grasp, now is the law of the land. And that's why I fly the flag.

Like everyone else I am always amazed at what you find at the ts! I have got to find time to make a trip to your Habitat sometime. Such great pieces! I salute you and this wonderful table :-)

Punk, It is so dry here that the state has banned fireworks! The stands can sell them, but recommend saving them for New Year's!! Of course, there will be the crazies that still set them off, but it is illegal this year. Any excuse to shop works for me, LOL.

Nana, the blue stars are just small dishes that I put votives in for the table. The clear ones are actually votive holders.

Jeanne, The TS had the matching mugs too, but I figured this time of year is more lemonade than hot drinks! Probably cause I don't drink coffee, LOL

Marlene, I have a few items I am searching for, but the rest just seems to surface at opportune times. Of course, as much as I go to the TS's, it does increase my odds!

Kath, this Habitat has lots of different merchandise, unlike some of the others that mainly have building materials and some furniture. It is the best place to buy books!

This is such a pretty table Candy.
I'm amazed how everything coordinates...and that you found
many of the pieces at different times and places!
The rich blue of your tablecloth really sets off those dishes and all your wonderful 'patriotic' accessories.
Love the star votives...flatware and napkin rings.
Your beautiful CP and flags are the added 'icing on the cake'.
This was one of the nicest Flag Day/Pre 4th table I've seen.

Candy, I'm going to take the lazy way and just say DITTO to all the wonderful comments everyone else has said.

Fireworks have been banned here a long time. In town, not just in our camp areas! Only licensed places can hold firework events. I don't go watch them now I don't have little kids, the heat on a July night is not to my liking.
