Diva de Provence is coming out with an induction range which I believe I read will have a total output of 83000 kW!! Induction on steroids? The oven and broiler sound absolutely amazing and I'm ashamed to admit that if it were in the stores now, I'd be very tempted to get it even though I think the $8500-8900 price tag is obscene. Anyway, I spoke to our regional Diva distributor about a month ago and he said they had just received US approval and started to actually build the units. They hope to have them out by mid-April. My local dealer says don't hold your breath; these things can take a year longer than they claim. Smeg also makes an induction range and they just opened an office and showroom in NYC (at least, the showroom was supposed to open in the fall but I don't know if it ever did). I couldn't get any info from them about whether the range would be available in the US. I finally gave up and opted for a cooktop and wall oven. If you have the money and no time constraints, that Diva range may be worth the wait.

Just wanted to follow up and let you know that I bought the Electrolux, double oven, electric range. My local Best Buy store had a floor model for sale with a few minor dings, I got one heck of a deal. I've been using it for over a month now and I absolutely love it. Though the burners are not induction, they heat up very quickly and the rest of the glass top stays fairly cool. I use the keep warm burner almost every day and the burner layout is great, no difficulties so far with using three or four burners at once. The glass does require frequent scrubbing and polishing with the cleaner and sponge that came with the oven, but it is still much easier to clean than a traditional range. Having the glass top also means extra counter space when needed. I do use my cast iron on it, but I'm very careful not to slide the pans around since the manufacturer warns that cast iron will scratch the glass. The stainless steel trim is very easy to clean, no polish required for a spot free finish. The side panels are not stainless steel, but gray, they blend in much better than black. The oven lights are super bright, which is wonderful for checking on your food without opening door. The rolling racks are also very nice. The convection is almost perfect, stuff right up against the door may be slightly less golden brown than everything else, but if you don't overfill the oven, it's not a problem. The large oven is somewhat slow to pre-heat, though there are pre-set temperatures that are much faster and the oven retains heat ridiculously well (it will still be hot hours after turning it off). I have only used about half of the oven features, but so far, everything works as advertised and meets or exceeds my expectations. Using the drawer oven with cookie sheets is awkward because you can't just slide them out, I suggest using oven mitts rather than pot holders to prevent burns, but, IMO, it would be much worse to have to bend over that low for heavy pots and pans, as you would if the larger oven was on the bottom. So I still prefer this set up to freestanding double oven competition. The bottom oven also does not have a light, not necessary, but it would be nice. I use the second oven all the time, don't know how I lived without it :) In short, I have no real complaints about this oven. I only paid $1700 for it. I feel like I got a good deal. Had I paid full price, I would still be satisfied with it's performance, though I don't know if I would still feel it was worth every penny. I did upgrade from a piece of junk 1980's Admiral stove that was so far past it's last leg, it wasn't even funny. So I don't have recent experience with another range of comparable quality. Going back several years, I have used a good quality Whirlpool and a GE Profile, which performed very well but lacked the bells and whistles that the Electrolux has. There are only a handful of induction ranges out right now. Samsung, Kenmore Elite and GE Profile freestanding (with controls on back), and Kenmore Elite and Electrolux slide-in (what it sounds like you want) are the only ones I know of except Viking and Diva. We have the E'lux induction range, two months now, and like it pretty well, but to be honest, I have figured out all of the intuitive stuff without the manual just so I could continue to feed my family and have yet to really study what it can do. The induction is probably no more impressive than any induction cooktop but I do like it much better than our radiant top. DH looked at both the Kenmore and E'lux and was more impressed with the construction of the E'lux, which is why we ended up with it. Yes, it sticks out past cabinet and counter, but where it is in my kitchen, I don't notice it and it doesn't bother me. It may bother some, and I did fret about it until it went in, but it's not bad. It should fit in your space, but as jessrae said, you will have to fill in with something (appliance stores would have a stainless version, we have granite) to bridge the gap between the back of the range and the wall. florantha, I don't think the noise is a problem at all. The fan runs when I am using both convection and induction but I can hardly hear it. It continues to run for a while after the unit is off and I don't know it's running unless I stand right there and feel the air coming out. As far as the hum with induction, the only time I hear it is when I use the power boost feature to boil water quickly, and it's truly a very quiet hum. I haven't noticed a significant difference in oven size but I don't use huge pans; it's ample for most baking. If you can wait, I would. Other companies are coming out with slide-in versions and prices may be even more competitive. However, if you are ready to have one, the E'lux seems to be a good model (so far, though I know 2 months is not a good sample). There is at least one other person who has one who has done much more extensive research (and reported on it) on Appliances. Go over there and search for Electrolux induction. Also ask over there and you may get more input from others who have more experience with the various models.

I found out that the FrigidairePromotions.com rebate only applies to purchases from certain stores and the store I purchased from doesn't apply. The net price after matching Best Buy's $1399.99 sales price earlier this week is still less than if I had purchased from the eligible store and then got the rebate. Best Buy's price is up to $1699.99 now. I just submitted the rebate from the electric company and should get that credit back in a few weeks, The FGIH3047VF range is installed and working and everything looks good so far. It's not really smudge proof because the delivery mens' hands were dirty enough to still leave alot of smudges, However, the smudges wiped off much more easily from this surface than from normal real stainless steel. One surprise with this range is that it uses a full touch screen and not the plastic flex buttons like on FGIF3036TF. These type of controls feel more upscale like my previous Electrolux, but this also means it will be more expensive to repair if it fails after warranty. It "should" still be somewhat cheaper to repair the controls though since this screen technology is more mainstream in appliances than when the Electrolux used it in 2010 and it doesn't have the "Wave Touch" sensor feature the Electrolux did. This range also feels slightly more sturdy than the floor model FGIF3036TF I looked at. The largest burner is larger than I expected. So, it should be no problem with the largest pans I have. The specs say it is 8.3 inches, but I measured about 10 inches. Maybe the coil is 8.3" underneath, but the largest pan size marker on the cooktop measures 10 inches.
