Off topic ... Good news from last night

I posted this on Facebook last nite ... after a year of fighting Ovarian cancer I rec'd a phone call last nite from my Iowa City doctor's office (I had been there on Mon & was awaiting the news). I know some of you have been following my progress & I just want to thank you for your good thoughts & Prayers! ~~hugs, Jeanne S.

"Just received the phone call from Iowa City I've been waiting for since our appointment on Mon. The cat scan that was re-read by my doctor & radiologists in Iowa City concludes that the CT does not show any "residual disease!!!" What that means is there doesn't appear to be any cancer cells that remain after attempts to remove cancer has been made). The ARNP (on the phone) cautioned me that it is always possible there could be some small cells that the CT wouldn't show ... BUT, I am ecstatic! I am a free woman for 3 mos!! I will see my local cancer dr here in July & not go back to Iowa City until the first part of Aug. I am thanking God ... my family & friends for holding me up this past year. ~~hugs"

Now I can work on getting stronger again ~~ & enjoy the summer days ahead! Jeanne S.

San, SIL just started working this January at the bank and is only working part time as it is. She had been working 2 other jobs all part time in addition to this one so I know she is exhausted. Good news is that baby and mommy get to go home today already. I bet they are ready for the time to be out of the hospital. I just hope that someone can stay and help out for awhile. My mom stayed with my sis and I with our 2 c=sections each for about a month. And let me tell you that was heaven.(don't ask Dan what he thought of it:) But since she is a daughter in law she is afraid to offer to stay.She offered to stay in the hospital overnight to change diapers, and give a pacifier or sugar water to hold out feedings a little bit ( I know it was great when she did this for me) but my SIL promptly announced that she would figure it out and handle everything on her own. I know that when I came home mom was there to help, added to that with Hayden I had 6 weeks bed rest and a 2 and 4 year old that wanted to help) But I cried like a baby when it was time for her to go home. It was so nice having another adult there. My brother works Construction and works 60 hour weeks so won't be able to be at home. And now my sil's mom who was going to stay and help will be flying home on Monday leaving Becky at home alone with the baby, her first and she reaaly doesn't have a clue, not ever being one to be around babiies at all. Just knowing the maternal instict will pop up and help matters out. Stacie

I almost took off in someone else's car last night

I found this post by accident and couldn't stop laughing. What a relief to know that I am not the only member of the "wrong car club". I'm not even the only member of the "loading groceries in the wrong car" club, LOL. My husband is always pleading with me to please be more aware of my surroundings. My daughter and I loaded a weeks worth of groceries in someone else's car one time. I got into the drivers side and she got into the passenger seat and buckled up. We were both into our conversation so much we didn't notice someone elses fast food bags and jumper cables in "our" car. It hit us both at the same time ...mid sentence. We grabbed our groceries as quick as possible and ran.Unfortunately, in our hurry, we left our toilet paper in the back seat of the car. I've always wondered what the real owner of the car must have thought when he found an unopened package of toilet paper in his back seat.

Nice picture Lou, and yes you were there. It's nice to put a face with a name. I've seen some of the pictures of the gatherings, that must have been what brought on the dream. Believe it or not,Linda, we all had the night off and the restaurant did the cooking. I don't remember anything much but Pat T saying "Hi we're from the Cooking Forum" and I was excited to meet everyone!!

The black plastic "tile" has perforations in it. It is buried underground in areas that have excess water and they connect in a network to "county tiles" that criss-cross the area. Original tile (in our area, is made from local clay that was fired in kilns. This is from the turn of the last century. Then they used concrete (and still do for the big "mains). Now it is mostly the black hard plastic perforated tile that is in different sizes. It can be installed by digging a trench, but most tile is pulled into the ground now with GPS guided tile plows. I even have my yard tiles and my eve spouts drain into them also - keeping my basement nice and dry and no dang spouts to move when i mow! One of the perks of being married to a farmer - lol!

As you know, Jeanne, you had me crying and doing the Happy Dance all at the same time. And I can't begin to tell you how much your courage and strength through-out this terrible ordeal has touched me. You are so inspiring, and show there is light even in the darkest storm of one's life. I admire you more than you'll ever
know.

Jeanne, I am so happy to hear this. I keep you in my daily prayers. My very good friend is celebrating 11 years since being diagnosed with stage 4 O C. She is enjoying life to the fullest.
