Hydro Systems or MTI Air Bath?
Comments (10)Thank you Beaglesdoitbetter! Just looked further into the hole pattern and it looks like there are two options, one is the Aria with 20 jets and the other is the Aria Elite with 30 jets. The Aria hole pattern is evenly spaced throughout while the Aria Elite has more of a sculpted pattern with no holes where you'd normally be seated. Do you have the regular Aria? If so, that would aleviate my concerns about comfort. I love the idea of the radiant heat vs. the inline so thank you for that idea. With an inline, it looks like the water runs through the unit which requires an intake and output and detracts from the smooth lines of the tub. Can I ask what drain you opted for? We were advised against the toe tap, so the only other options are the lift and turn or the cable driven system. Depending on what the price quote comes in at, our preference is for the MTI. The interior of the Hydro Systems Lacey seemed so much more narrow than the MTI even though they have the same exterior dimensions....See MoreAir Tub vs Jetted in Master Bath
Comments (19)I *much* prefer jetted over air tubs. I have some major back problems and my DH has minor ones - which is definitely a factor in wanting a firmer, more shi-atsu style massage experience in the tub. We've had a combo tub but simply rarely used the air part. But - we're either soakers or shi-atsu types - whereas others like the more gentle effervescence (I bet I would have too, when I was less prone to muscle cramping). We've recently done the B and B thing where you book a room with an air tub and then one with a jet tub - and then compare ( fun! ). I can see where people would prefer one over the other ( but we still prefer the waterjets, even though the places that have them are less expensive - we need the deep massage). If a person can afford it - get both, otherwise be sure you know which option fits your body/relaxation needs. I joke about the airbaths (just fill your tub up with 7-up - you'll love it) - but that's because my nerve damage makes it less perceptible (damage I didn't know I had until I got into comparing sensations). It's true the air is quieter - which some regard as more relaxing, but I'm prone to playing music while I relax - and well, the volume of the music exceeds the jets and I like it that way. Other times, I just like the roar of the jetted white water. Again, I totally get how some people like effervescence instead of rapids. What do you think you'd really like if you could only have one? Or...could you consider both? (We are about to purchase a jetted tub with the Ozone system, which most good models have - so we're not worried about bacteria, I'd want an ozone unit whether I had air or jet)....See MoreWhirlpool or Air Baths? Is one preferred over the other?
Comments (3)There is one jetted tub manufacturer that has gotten rid of the noise and the tubes that hold water between baths (so then the water gets gunky and you would never want it in your bath). It is now called purewaterbaths.com. I have lusted after one of their tubs, but can't get in and out of a tub, so can't have one. They solved the problems by making each jet its own little electric motor. It cuts down on vibration in the tub, since no water is being pumped from drain to jet to jet to pump. Water enters around an individual jet and exits through that jet. You can easily disassemble each jet and clean them after use. That means you can use oils or bubble bath. There are no tubes holding water to go stale or mucky. Electric motors hum. Pumps vibrate and roar. These do not pump water around between the jets. No pumps. Yet you have jets to swirl around and let the water massage you. Be sure to ask if they actually hit you and massage muscles, the designs of some of their tubs make me wonder. Air is a more gentle and soothing experience, I have heard. There have been threads here about some of the brands. Do a search using google asking for a Garden Web review of air baths and you may see more than a search you may have done here in the Bath forum. You did search for what has already been discussed, right? I know of at least one ongoing discussion in which air tub buyers have discussed brands and have waited for remodels to finish to see what each of them thinks of their brands....See MoreWhere can I find product review on Eljer"s Patriot Air Bath
Comments (0)I am doing a remodel of our guest bathroom. I am replacing a jetted tub with an air tub. I am having a hard time finding product reviews on Eljer Air Bath Tubs. I know it is an American Standard product but I know nothing about it's performance. Anyone have one? Any suggestions on how to research?...See Moremonicakm_gw
