Removing small water stain from ceiling
Comments (18)I ran across this site because I wanted to find the best way to remove 3 water stains that were about 8 inches in diameter. I've used bleach and kiltz (color didn't quite match) in the past on stains like this. I tried bleach on these stains and it only lightened them. I don't know why but I decided to spray(while blotting with a towel) them with Clorox Chlorine Free Oxi-Magic Multi-Purpose Stain Remover and the stains started to disappear upon contact....See MoreRust stains on white carpet
Comments (21)Kay, I got rust from a taupe carpet out with Resolve carpet cleaner (pump spray not foam) in a house I was readying to sell. I'd had a contractor come in and replace two very large windows, do some plaster repair and it looked like he'd sat a tool chest, or frame to hold a saw of some kind down on the carpet. Had the carpet professionally cleaned after to make sure I hadn't left any dirt attracting product there. But this house has a beige wool Karastan in one guest bedroom - there is a silver dollar sized stain, coffee colored on the carpet and even the Resolve has let me down, I can't get it out. The decorator who helped me with some living room pieces told me he had arranged that carpet for the former owner and it cost a fortune. If you've tried that many products and 'no go', you may be stuck with it - and from your description I doubt if its as obvious to anyone but you. I've used embroidery scissors on little dried paint drips before, but if you part the fibers with your fingers and the stain runs the length of the fiber, sadly you may be out of luck....See MoreWhite ice granite has rust stains?
Comments (29)It's not really "million year old rust". The iron oxides in the granite don't start rusting until the slabs are cut and the surface is exposed to moisture and air. That's great if you don't mind how it looks. But mine is white with veins of pink, purple and grey. Mine was a remnant and was stored outside in the yard. After I bought it it sat outside for another year until it was installed. The rust really increased during that time. In my earlier post the owner of the granite yard told me to use wood bleach which is different than what you use on your clothes. After it was installed in the bathroom I made a paste with the wood bleach and put it on the spots with a damp cloth over it to keep it from drying out. It took a few times of applying , but it really took the orange rust spots out and it looks so much nicer....See Moreremoving a rust stain from a quartz countertop
Comments (45)It might not be the finish that is damaged. The Brillo may have left a cloudy layer. Use a good, non-abrasive cleaning product (even just gentle dish soap and clean water). Scrub hard (but with a non-abrasive towel or sponge). Rinse very well after - even dish soap residue will dry cloudy on the surface. Odds are this will fix the issue. Try baking soda and water as well if you need to. You can get a more aggressive cleaner (Caeserstone recommends Soft Scrub gel cleaner with bleach). Important though that you never use an abrasive sponge (not even the scratchy side of a plastic sponge). If that fails, you can try polishers such as Quartz Renew or Granite Gold Quartz Brite. They don't actually polish though, they just give a temporary shine. Only a true mechanical polish will repair it if it is actually damaged. It would be something best left to the professionals (you risk overheating when you polish mechanically, which would cause other issues)....See Morekathyg_in_mi
