How easy to switch Bluestar range from LP to NG
Comments (13)Never came boxed and I forget if it is still on the pallet, I think we took it off the pallet it is sitting in my bedroom on Cape Cod at the moment. [ I am not there, but my son is] has a blanket over it, feet and everything else that came with it are still inside the oven. I bought it for a house that had gas then I sold that house and my house now does not have gas so I never got to install it at all....See MoreBluestar Ignitors and Burners
Comments (96)The 25kBTU burners are nice. They are more powerful than the 22kBTU that you ahve right now, so they are sought after as upgrades. But they are supposed to be paired with larger jes orifices. No big deal, third-party gas orifices only cost less than $10 and are easy to change if you have access to a deep socket driver. Afterwards, you might have to adjust the shutters and the low simmer set point. Youtube can show you how to do that. But if you don't want to go this route then I think guaranteedparts dot com has a 22/18kBTU burner head in stock. Of course, if it was me, I'd just drill a new hole and squeeze in a new screw. Cast iron is pretty easy to work with. You probably won't even need to tap any threads. I have actually done this a couple of times over the years. We have had our Bluestar for more than 10 years now. I think I only ever managed to actually break an ignitor while cooking once (spilled some liquid on the hot ignitor). But I have damaged them when upgrading from 22kBTU to 25kBTU burner heads, and also when replacing venturi tubes. It happens. Honestly, no big deal if you are handy with an electric drill. Even better, if you have access to a drill press....See MoreReview of BlueStar 36" wide 6-burner rangetop
Comments (5)I have a 30" rangetop and will just echo what Hilltop55 has said. Just a few more comments. IF you go to teh BlueStar website there's a video on how to adjust your burners. I did that and my simmer burner is now ultra low. I just made Chinese food last night, and in my mind there is no better home system for Chinese cooking than Bluestar. I took out the grate and the wok just sat down in the burner. I was able to get a sear on everything -- the so called "breath of the wok". Every few months, I put the grates into the oven and turn on the clean setting. This removes a lot of the dirt and grease. But in between, yes it definitely gets greasy and dirty, but you're not eating off of them; you're cooking on them....See MoreBluestar - 2 burners not igniting
Comments (8)I feel your pain. The thermostat on our oven went out on Xmas a few years ago. Not a good time to figure that out. The switch they're talking about is part of the valve (i.e. behind the burner knob). It basically let's the spark module know that the knob has been turned. Not sure whether there's some adjustment there that could get out of whack (position relative to the knob), just a broken switch or what. Reading your OP, it almost sounds like something else, though. If the way the igniters are pointed made for too much gap to the burner, they might not spark until you shortened it (with an insulated tool so your body doesn't become the ground). If there was a crack or something down lower on the igniter, I don't think that would work. Anyway, food for thought. Good luck....See Morebarryv_gw
