I just make little reminder signs! LOL

This one I placed on top of the television so he would see it everytime he wakes up from a nap!

and this one goes in the messy computer room that I've been nagging him to clean up for over a year!

Doubt that they will actually work--but sure was fun seeing his face when he saw them! LOL (Yes, he is threatening to take my new toy away!)

LOL.....I LUV it. He sure can't miss those 'subtle' reminders. Hope it spurs him to action. Gosh I'd love to have seen his face too.

Leone....as others have said, continue to visit. I am guessing it's not alzheimers but senile dementia, which can sort of come and go....she can get periods wehre she is better than other times. Turn down the TV while you are there...."so we can talk"....ask her what she had for lunch, nice today isn't it, bring her some candy etc. I am currently a Resident Advocate at a nursing home in town....resident meaning I advocate for the residents, not that I live there. I have a list of residents who I visit at least ocne a month. Last week I met for my first visit with a man whom I have known for about 50 years, but not seen in easily 3 years and not been in a social situation for more than 25 years. I walked into the central room and he locked eyes with me and greeted me and said "What are you doing here"....but no way could he have said my name nor how he knew me. She is aware of your visits, no need to stay long if she's not with it, but just going gives her a root in the real world.....and if you could take her for a ride, that would be wonderful!! Sounds like your doing O.K. with your plants. As far as taking the phals. outside or not, you will get people on both sides of the fence. I personally never took my phals. outside when I was growing under lights. I think you did the correct thing in bringing the oncidium and cattleya outside as once they get used to the higher light can take almost straight sun all day long. I don't know if you know it or not but the nobile oncidiums are easy to rebloom but due require a certain treatment to get them there. Please check out Yamamato Orchids. There is lots to read there especially about fertilizing nobile's only up to a certain date and then they need a 30 day period of at least one hour of cool weather. A few months ago I bought a half dozen of them out of bloom. This is the only orchid that I own that is currently outside in New York, U.S.A.

I have removed true Pampas Grass before. It's work, but not THAT bad. Be sure to wear long sleeves and gloves. Protect as much of your skin as possible because the grass blades are very sharp and will cut you. Digging really is the fastest and most effective way to get rid of it. Sharpen your shovel! Cut around the outer edges of the clump and then use a SHARP shovel (A sharp shooter works best) or axe and start chopping the clump into sections. The roots are extremely tough at the surface, but they are easier to cut through as you get deeper into the ground. You can also try using a pruning saw. Just be warned that this is slower and will likely ruin your saw. Once you've cut it into pieces, it won't be so heavy to pull out of the hole.(If you have a helper, you might be able to just lift the whole clump out of the hole, thus saving a step. Depends on how big the clumps are, and how strong your backs are.) The residual bits are pretty simple to dig out, or you can use Round-up. I don't know what your springs look like, but I am usually so busy with planting that I would never get to a big project like this then. Besides, the weather is much more conducive to vigorous work right now. You'll thank yourself a million times if you do it this winter. Pick a bright sunny day and get to it. Good luck! All this being said, if you decide that digging it out is simply too much for you, start spraying it just as soon as it begins to put on new growth in the spring. Keep it up until the clump is gone. This may well take the better part of an entire season, especially if the clumps are old.

Stop doing for this kid.Stop going to his activities.What I'm about to say(not toward you though)will sound very cold hearted.Stop worrying about him and emotionally protect yourself, his ulcer included.Why is his Father not taking him in for treatment.It is his Father's responsibility.Urge your DH once to take him for ulcer treatment then let it go. Do not give up anymore independence,financial security or your sanity for this kid bc at the end of the day ?The kid will not appreciate it.Sounds to me like juvenile detention would make a nice home for this kid.Along with Psychiatric help.It would take ONCE seeing my kid beat an elderly person I would put his hind end in that detention center so fast his head would spin.He sounds like an endangerment to others and himself. If there is anyway to go back to your chosen profession you should look into that.You have given up way to much.Your DH needs to get this kid into a psychiatrist and perhaps put him in the system before he beats someone(maybe even you)to severe damage or death.

I was hoping they would give you gals a good chuckle--I was giggling the whole time I was making them! ;o)

Frou, the "toy" is one of the Cricut cutting machines. Originally designed for Scrapbookers/card makers I think. You can buy different cartridges with different fonts/designs that you can cut. Sure made doing these letters lots faster than I could have painted them. I've mostly been using mine to make the decorated wood blocks so far--and these little signs. If you just do a search for Cricut, you can see them. I will say the prices sure vary so it's good to shop around before buying one!

You are way too cute!!!! I need a whole set of those signs to put around the homestead!!! I put a watering can (that needs the handle repaired)in the middle of the path....DH has walked around it at least 10 times. I stuck a limb in it this morning with a cardboard sign that said..."Help, I leak". We'll see if he notices!!

Luvs, your signs are hilarious, and very nicely done. I'd love one of those 'toys' altho not sure I'd use it much after the initial novelty wore off. Or it would become another business and then I'd be in trouble! Trying to stay retired.

LOL Punk, yeah, I'm okay, he's a good sport--but guess what? I was playing on this computer last night and guess what "appeared" on the shelf above my computer???? You guessed it--that "Hey You! Get Busy" sign! ;o) Somehow I think these will be "traveling" signs. LOL

I did get my watering can fixed, so my humble hand lettered (crooked) cardboard (torn off a box) sign worked too!
Pezabelle, I love those crazy old songs...I'll have to look this one up!

Hi Kathleen, I've just been putting the scrapbooking paper letters on with Mod Podge and then another couple coats over the top. It goes on "milky" and dries clear. Dries pretty quickly too. I will probably buy some vinyl soon and I've heard that it already has the adhesive and doesn't even need a sealer on top. Some is even good for outside. I'm getting ideas for all kinds of signs, sayings and blocks for various seasons, holidays, and occassions. ;o)

Lynn and Jaybird, glad you got a laugh out of them too. Jaybird, so glad your little sign worked--mine haven't yet! LOL

Luvs, so glad you are having fun with your Cricit. I have had mine for about 1 1/2 years and haven't had anywhere near the fun you are. Guess I better git more creative.

Belle & Jaybird, I am pretty sure the name of the song is "My Buckets Got a Hole In It" Oh Darn! Now the song is in my head. Funny how that works huh?
