Tablesetting is hard work

I decided to try to do a few tablesettings today. I only have a few dishes to play with right now, but here's one with my new candleholder and my collection of rose saucers. These are just for fun and so I could experiment a bit. Luvs

P.S. Not sure why #4 is missing--but you get the idea.

Luvs, This tablesetting is just gorgeous! Everything is perfect and I especially love your salad plates. Very, very pretty!

They are great because people can "see" thru them. I have seen this done in a lot of formal parties (weddings and banquets) that way people can see thru the flowers and still have a beautiful table. I can't do many tall things since my chandler gets in the way.. Thanks for posting the pics!

hi2, I've long haunted antique malls and a big show here in the Fall. then there's eBay of course, but I don't get all that much off there any more. I've got around 300 Whippet/Greyhound statues in my collection. But there is sure a LOT on eBay. I look thru both greyhound and whippet listings almost every night just to pass the time when I can't sleep. Arthur Court stuff is lovely but usually more than I want to pay, like Fitz & Floyd. Luckily my BF is good about getting stuff for birthday and Xmas in these. Luvs, I figured some folks would cringe that I didn't get that pedestal plate properly redone, but if someone really wanted to, the paint could be removed and it still could be re-plated I'm sure. I'm not going to sell it tho, you're right about that. Just glad I can finally display it, sure was ugly before but a "must have" when I saw it. Never have I seen another like it either on eBay. The calendar plate came from an antique show I went to. Actually I bought it for a dear friend, much older than me, who was my "mentor" when I started in whippets and showing. She died at age 90. She was born in 1908 and loved the plate. I inherited her whippet things and so got the plate back. Also have an old mug with the same dog head on it, tho mug is orangy color and doesn't match plate at all as a set. Karen

Kathleen, Wow!! Thats just a beautiful and elegant table! Everything looks lovely - I dont even know where to start. I love all the dishes - the serving pieces are gorgeous. Love the veggie dish in your first photo. Your soup bowls are fabulous and the shell dishes too! I really like the star mirrors and votive holders - they make everything sparkle, especially with your beautiful crystal. And that dessert, wow!! I just had lunch but your photos are making me hungry again. I have to play with a white-on-white setting but I dont think I have enough design sense to pull it off! :) I am always wanting to add contrast. Mo

Thanks Sandi, I just love roses. I usually have the little rose plates hanging on my wall. How's that for looking around to be creative? LOL

Kathleen, I loved the napkin folding video. I actually tried using two colors of napkins to put them in the glasses--but the napkins weren't stiff enough! I loved the ones on the video that you could stand up on the salad or dessert plate. Might have to try that sometime.

It was fun playing with the dishes and stuff--but when I finished putting stuff away, I realized how tired I was. DH had gotten called to work, and I just wasn't in the mood to leave the house today, so this was part of my entertainment. Hope you enjoyed it.

Luvs, your table is so pretty. I love the saucers; they are such a nice touch. It all looks great. You have some very pretty rose tablecloths. Thank so much for showing us all the pretties today. I really enjoy seeing what you have, and how you pull it all together.

Luvs you have been busy! I love your rose dishes! Next time try using your pink napkin under the small rose dish inbetween the white dish, the pink will show up better against the white dish. (I only mention this since I saw in another pic of yours some pink napkins) I see you have out your faux cupcakes out, very nice.

Lee, glad you enjoyed the pics. It was fun to drag some of my stuff out and play a bit. Now I will have some ideas I can use when I have company coming over for dinner. Sure hope they like pink! LOL

Judith, you are right, some pink napkins would be great there, but the ones I have just seemed to be "off" in their color for this tablecloth. I was thinking that even a green might have worked, but I only had blue green striped ones. I'm sure I will be adding to my collection for next time. ;o)

Hey Anj, WHEN you come for dinner, we might eat at the dining table but we will PAINT at the kitchen table! Then again--maybe we'll just order pizza so we have more time for the painting. Wouldn't that be a fun time together? LOL
