About 2 weeks, when I'd gone to the Antique Mall and showed y'all some things I bought....one was an unusual candle-holder. You could fill it with small stuff by lifting the hinged silver top. A taper candle fits on the top. They had 3 of these, the 11 inch one I bought, and then two that were 14 inches high. I couldn't justify buying all 3. But OA told me I should get my butt back over there and get them!

Well, dang. I thought about it, a lot. Today I had to run an errand very close to the Antique Mall, so decided to see if the pair was still there. Unfortunately I didn't remember what aisle they were on. (this is the 500 dealer mall. Huge!) LOL. I sort of knew the general end of the mall they'd been, but I still had to walk a lot of rows looking. Just when I got to the next to last row, and was feeling real discouraged thinking they were gone...there they were!!! Yay. And the price was dropped a few bucks

even. From $11 each to $9 each. I also passed the booth with the ruffled-edge compotes again, and grabbed a green one too. I'd bought a blue last time. So Miz OA, thank you... I think. I've always liked candlesticks paired in two different heights, so I really like my lonely lil first one with these larger ones.

Karen, I'm sure OA made the right choice for you.LOL I bet those candele holders will be so neat filled with different things.

That little ruffled green bowl is darling too. Love to see what you find when you get out and shop. Is there anything else you purchased today and want to share with us?

Karen...I think having the three to group together or just the pair...will give you so many options.
I like the fact that you can fill them with different things for a different look each time. That makes them so unique....I wonder how they would look with sparkly garland inside or small white battery lights...for the holidays or pretty colored stones? Even colored liquid!! ... I could go on and on with different ways to fill them..they're really fun.
Lucky you found them or you'd be hearing OA's voice in your mind, that would Haunt you Forever!!! LOL

I had hopes for my Glamis Castle because my step daughter ordered it for me. (One of the first 4 I got from Chamblees 2 years ago) Everything I have ever gotten from hybrid t's to Austins and HP's have done very well, except GC. It just sat there, and sat there and sat there. It would bloom a few buds but mostly they would ball. But the darn thing never grew an inch. So I moved it this spring. It is still sitting there. If it doesn't do anything by next spring, it's history. I'll find another pretty little white to put in its place. Life is too short to put up with roses that don't please. I have put in Winchester Cathedral, and it is beautiful. Really coming into it's own this year, along with everything else....so I don't think it's me. I think the one I got just has a bad attitude. LOL!

I do like your colors, and I think they are very appropriate for Florida. Annie is right that I used to have to come up with new names for beige - we have almost 200 variations on that color, and my boss is known as "The Beige Lady". I used a lot of Italian, French, and (to a lesser extent) Spanish words to help come up with new names. I'm not so involved with that process anymore, but I do have to make up names for each new furniture design that I am working on, in order to be able to keep track of it. Many of the prototype names that I make up are kept for the final product, but one console that I names recently caused a bit of scandal. I named it the Satyr Console because the leg that I designed reminded me of a Satyr's leg - and my boss agreed and wanted to keep the name. However, some people in the company thought that the name sounded satanic or reminded them of bacchanals. They also objected to other parts of the satyr's anatomy, and so I was forced to come up with another name. Because of the unusual curves that I put into the leg, it also reminded me of the baroque Italian architect Borromini, and so we chose that instead. To my disappointment, many people do not know who Borromini was and even have trouble pronouncing it. I used to walk through our warehouse in the 1990s and find furniture with certain colors on it and say, "That must be going to Florida!" Last week I found an odd finish on some dining chairs (10 of them) that I had designed and said, "Those must be going to New Jersey," and as it turned out, they were! Color and pattern choices can be very revealing. We also did some chairs that had heavily carved and gilded frames with purple crushed velvet upholstery, and those ended up in Luther Vandross' house. I think we still have some of the furniture that we were making for him when he died. Our style is usually not that gaudy, but we will do it for a price! Thank you everyone for the nice words. Squirrel, I don't remember the paint color. It's a Martha Stewart paint that we purchased at Sears. When Sears was the only ones who carried her paint. It has held up beautifully. Meg, the Wing back chairs are extremely comfortable. Even with their strtaight backs, they are "napable". Mine were made by 'Massoud' (I went and checked the tag). Purchased years ago at Haverty's Furniture in Tampa. MsJay, Our shutters are Norman Shutters. They are available from many different sources (Penney's, NAFFCO, Discount Blinds, etc.). You can figure the cost to be about $18.00 per square foot. Which includes installation. It took exactly 5 weeks from day of measuring to installation. ML

I guess My wife qualifies as an enabler. I had decided to let all my citrus trees die when both my kumquat trees died in a 3F windstorm that blew my cover off the trees. I had decided to dump the 3 Sweetlee tangerine trees (for rootstock). Jean talked me out of it. 3 month later I was offend 2 rescue Meyers that I accepted and nursed back to health. Later a friend, ,Cory, sent me 2 seed grown Fukushu Kumquat trees and a Meiwa kumquat tree. Fukushu #1 ( Fortunella Obovata ) Fukushu #2 ( Fortunella Obovata ) Meiwa #1 ( Fortunella Crassifolia )Meiwa #2 and Meiwa #3 just grafted 7-19-16 on US897 rootstock. My wife even held the light on the plant.

I can't believer OA talked you into getting more than one of something. You get a gold star. Those are really cool candle sticks. And now you have a pair of compotes, your getting the hang of it.

Hooray! I'm so glad you hunted down the other two. Nice work, Karen. I'm like you. Most often, I use candlesticks for tapers in groups, rather than individually - although I have been know to do that too.

You won't be sorry. I bet you're going to use them for lots of things.

So, I guess you're catching on to my bossy personality, right?

I have candle holders very similar to those which I bought at the dollar store. I have so much fun with them. I use jelly beans at Easter, cranberries during the winter, m&ms for lots of different occasions. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. By the way, I saw mine in an antique shop for 6.00 each! Satine

Karen, a grouping of three will make an even better impact in your vignettes. I felt so bad for you that you had to search that whole big store to find them again! Of course, I doubt that I could walk out of that wonderful place without checking out every row anyway! LOL

Wow! Such great suggestions for what to put inside them. Only one I can add is some of the clear, sparkly paper shred. I know you will have lots of fun with them.

Actually I like candleholders in pairs, but last time I'd bought the wonderful mercury-based pair and then saw these,
so just got the smaller one saying to myself I didn't "need" to come home with FIVE candleholders. LOL.
Guess OA showed me! I had wanted more of the compotes and would have loved one in each color. But they were $8 each and buying all four was too much at the time. Heck, maybe the pink and yellow will still be there next time I go.

Luvs, I was soooo good this time. I only walked the six LONG aisles on the left end of the mall, and just quickly glanced at stuff since I'd been there only 2 wks ago. But darn, it was hard not to slowly look at it all again. Especially with my memory, everything is new to me anyway.
But my leg, and wallet, won out and I only bought these 3 things this time.
However today, I took about TEN bags of stuff to the Humane Society thrift shop...and of course just had to go in and look around. Came home with one bag. I'll take some photos later this afternoon hopefully. Think ACORNS meanwhile. LOL.

Satine, occasionally I've seen stuff in the Antique mall that I've seen at Dollar Tree. Like the birds. LOL.

Here's what I got at the Humane Society Thrift store.
Three candleholders...and I don't have to worry about Luvs and my acorn one. She'd found the SAME one a few months ago while "treasure shopping". LOL. The off-white pillar is a stone-like material.

I can't sew and buying fabric makes no sense of course, but when I saw this SILKY PURPLE Christmas fabric there was just no resisting. The dark purple background was hard to photograph, but its so pretty! I am hoping to use it on tables or around trees. If I could sew, I could even make napkins. Darn it. I've no idea how much yardage, but is a big piece. Paid $3 for it.
The lace piece is a cream color and I think will be pretty under a centerpiece. YES I just bought ONE dinner napkin...LOL...but I have a good excuse. They only had the one!! I'd have bought a pair if they'd had another. It was good color to go with the lace mat, and has delicate flowers embossed on it. It will work on a Table for One just fine. Which is all you get from me anyway.

Oh Karen, I love the little bird on the white branch. The candle holder and acorn canister are great items too. One napkin makes me laugh! It does look like a pretty one.

The lace doily will look great with some of your vignettes. I wish someone could make napkins out of that material for you. They would be stunning. It will look good around some of your things any way.

Glad you are feeling well enough to do some shopping. I love seeing what you find.

Yes, Karen, the little acorn jar is a twin to mine. We now have found two or three "twin" items, haven't we? ;o)

Is the birch log candleholder real wood or ceramic? It sure will look cute in a TS or vignette. And the pedestal will be perfect when you need to elevate a piece. Might even be able use it and your pretty purple fabric together to display some goodies. And you sure can't go wrong with pretty lace. Don't forget that you can use your ONE napkin to line a basket or tray too.

Ten bags? Goodness, you must really be doing some serious Spring cleaning, gal? LOL

Karen, decide what size napkins you want and send the purple fabric to me...I'll make them up and get them back to you. Napkins are easy!! Do you want a hemmed edge or a fringed edge????

Luvs, the birch candleholder is ceramic tho can't tell by looking. Its really done well. (I think I saw somewhere that our Acorn candle holders were originally from Teleflora)
Yep, I've been on a garage-sorting-organizing-getting rid of stuff-binge. I took a lot of glass BACK to GW as I know I'll never get around to making more totems. I kept just a few pieces. Even cleaned out our clothes closets and some kitchen cabinets. Books, knick knacks, frames, clothes, etc. I'm proud of myself for all the stuff I donated or tossed. And I'm not done yet! Right now I'm trying to sort thru my bead jewelry and supplies, I haven't touched them in 6 yrs, but still KEPT the stuff. Arrggghhh. I use to make necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Sold some on eBay long ago, tho mostly I was just playing around and making myself stuff. Discovered I don't have the patience for serious beading. LOL. And now my hands and eyes aren't really good enough for me to enjoy it.

I'll tame that darn garage yet. Everytime I try to get it organized, seems it doesn't last long. I think it parties when I'm not out there and invites all its friends over. LOL.

Karen, don't you have some GD's that would be thrilled with your jewelry making things? That's my excuse for not clearing out more of my craft supplies that have been hanging around for years--always talk myself out of it because "little GD might want to make something with it". LOL

Luvs, most of the beads are fairly small and not really what I think would be 'fun' for the little girls. And my DD would kill me if there small beads scattered around to step on or the puppy to consume. LOL.

Too bad I'm not a dish-entertainer-decorator, I could make wine glass rings and napkin rings with a bunch of them. Actually I did make a couple of wine glass rings just because I've been playing with dishes some. Took me about 5 min. to do these. LOL, my kind of project.

I made a pair of each of these. The bunny and moon are gem stones.
