miele vacuum bags--where to find?

hey,

just wondering where you get your bags and filters from? do the prices vary online?

I buy them from a Miele vacuum dealer. I only buy the genuine Miele bags and filters. You can ask for a discount is you buy a large amount. You can also order directly from Miele.

A friend of mine had an electrolux vacuum and was using non-genuine bags. While vacuuming up glass the bag broke and ruined her vacuum. I have had Electrolux vacuums all of my life, until now, and have vacuumed up plenty of broken glass and never damaged a genuine bag.

It is also very likely that the genuine bags filter the dirt better and will give longer life the your HEPA filter and motor.

Miele makes very sure that their prices do not vary among sellers, whether it's for the appliances themselves or the accessories like the vacuum bags. I buy mine from the place where I bought my Miele vacuum. If I buy the bags online from Amazon or any other website, the price will be the same, but I won't have to pay sales tax which isn't that much to make it worthwhile. If I buy them on Amazon, I can get free shipping if I spend more than $25. But, again, it's just easier to buy the bags locally.

Plug the vacuum cleaner in and set the dial selector to one side or the other. "Curtins" or "Smooth"? Remove the hose from the wand. Turn the vacuum cleaner on and listen to the sound of the vacuum cleaner. Feel the suction from the hose. As you are doing this, slowly turn the dial to the other side. You should notice a change in the noise volume and the feel from the suction in the hose. Continue doing this, so you can understand the sound and feel. If you have done this and still no variation, then the vacuum is broken. The instructions do tell the owner to turn the "suction power selector to the desired setting."

Lucky51, I thought I had explained quite well. It is deceiving when someone uses the meter to sell their product, then tells them they must have this or that vacuum cleaner and nothing else will work, without finding out how much of a problem allergens are for that particular individual or household. A particle meter is fine, but it is important how someone uses it and the information gathered from it. At what number is the meter going to tell everyone when they will react to allergens in the air? It is always better to first understand the customer and their needs. This also means to understand their fears and limitations in regard to floorcare and cleaning. This means to ask questions. If you noticed, I did that. Then take all that info and give them some options that would better suite them. This may also mean telling them they do not need Ã¢ÂÂmoreÃ¢ÂÂ, if Ã¢ÂÂlessÃ¢ÂÂ will work for them. If we all look through our lives, we could recollect people who have tried to sell us more than we need. Previously, I used the "antibacterial soap" as an example. What about going in to find a washing machine or refrigerator. The salesman tells us that we must have this model, because anything else is just junk. We want someone who will just say "No, you do not need all that and here is why". We do not want someone who will play on our fears or lack of knowledge. As I have commented about through countless posts, Miele even knows that there are different levels of reactions to allergens. Miele has accommodated by selling different filters and filtering systems. I give Miele two thumbs up for this. If someone has minimal to no allergic reaction, when vacuuming, why not sell them a vacuum cleaner that will filter well and save some money. Now onto the suction meter. This meter is going to detect how much suction the vacuum cleaner has, but that can be deceiving for the uninformed. You should know that suction is not the only way to tell if a vacuum cleaner is going to clean. There have been vacuum cleaners registering lower than another, but cleans better than the higher registering vacuum cleaning. I could go on about suction, but I will leave that for another time. So, using a meter to sell a vacuum cleaner can be deceiving. Do not expect every person, who walks into your store, to understand the particle meter. I explained filters, filtration, etc. You gave the poster your three readings, then told them what to get.

I have worked part time in a vacuum store for over a decade. I would recommend the Miele over the Sterilaire, and add a turbo head (STB 205) for the low pile carpet or even the small powerhead (SEB 217) for low to medium pile. The Miele has more than enough power, excellent filtration, is well made, and offers great product support. I am not familiar with Sterilaire so I checked out their website. Not much info there. The Sterilaire looks messy and combersome to use compared to the Miele. Also Miele's new bare floor brush with the extra swivel makes vacuuming around furniture so much easier. Sterilaire doesn't show their bare floor brush on the website, but I am sure it does not have the double swivel Miele has. Try both vacuums in the store and see what makes you comfortable. Some questions: Who is Sterilaire? How long has the dealer been selling this vacuum? How long has Sterilaire been selling them? Does the 10 year warranty cover everything? Where is it made? I would not spend $1,000 for a vacuum the dealer has carried for less than two years, unless it already had an established reputation.

We entered a drawing at our local appliance shop when we purchased our gas range. We got a call yesterday that we had won a Miele vacuum cleaner. When I picked it up, the salesman said it was worth about $500. I went home and googled it and found that they actually retail for $850! We also got a year's worth of bags in the deal. Our 5 year old Kenmore has issues and needs repair or replacement (again!). Needless to say, we were delighted. Now comes the rub - Uprights are really best on carpet. We have hardwood throughout the house with just a couple of area rugs. We'd be much better served with a canister. I'm thinking of eBaying the S7 and purchasing a Miele canister (likely the Callisto) with the cash. Does this make sense or is the Titan good for hardwood floors as well? Please help us decide.

for the time being, i'm anti-new orleans' high-end appliance dealers--long story.

how do i guard against getting fake bags, or are you advising not to buy bags that claim they "fit miele vacuums?" thanks for the amazon tip.

Order your bags directly from Miele or an Authorized Miele vacuum cleaner retailer. I don't know about New Orleans but the Miele vacuum bags are sold at much smaller locations like Mom&Pop vacuum stores. I have not found the Miele vacuum in any other location.

Amazon does not offer their "free super saver shipping" on Miele vacuum bags. They do offer the free shipping on the "Miele style" vacuum bags. In answer to Nolamom's question, I do not recommend the non-genuine "Miele style" bags. They won't fit properly, and if anything happens to jam up your vacuum, the use of those bags may void the warranty (I am not sure).

As already noted, the Miele vacuum bags and filters are the same price no matter where you buy them. Even if you save a few dollars in sales tax by buying online, your shipping costs will be greater than the sales tax. I myself get the bags and filters from my local authorized Miele dealer, and anyway, I kinda like dropping into the store occasionally to see what's new with the latest Miele stuff. Also, one time I had trouble removing one of the filters from my vacuum, and the store just did it for me, showed me how, and threw in the replacement filter gratis while they were at it. That's this ancient practice called customer service--remember how we used to find that everywhere?

Just a follow-up to my previous message, I am linking below to the store where I buy my Miele vacuum bags and filters, Best Vacuum. They've been a small neighborhood store here in Chicago forever (the site says 26 years), but have branched out to an active web business. Their site says they offer free ground shipping on orders over $60, so Nolamom could buy in bulk her Miele bags and filters from them, a reputable place, and save the sales tax and shipping costs.

that's the kind of info i'm looking for, a reputable, friendly and courteous business to patronize. i will buy in bulk because i don't like the nuisance of running out of things when i need them, esp. non-perishables. thank you.

I use abt, also in Chicago. I buy the Miele tabs and vac bags at the same time. Shipping is free and no tax out of state. They arrive very fast and there are no questions about what I'm buying.
