You're certainly off to a great start. Can't quite see what is behind the big bunny, but it looks like a pretty jar with white roses--perfect counterpoint to your pretty white plates.

Am I seeing a leaf under the white plates? You don't miss a single detail, do you? And those little candle holding bunnies are just so cute.

You have so many pretty dishes--know you could do a different setting for each day of the week! ;o)

Judith, What you've done on your Easter table so far is very pretty. And I love the leafs under the chargers. They look like real cabbage leaves. It's a very nice touch. Yes, they do really look like real cabbage leaves, unfortunatly they don't show much under the large chargers, they look really cool though with the clear glass plates from Walmart, and they do show up better (the edges) with just a dinner plate.

kathleen, well I don't know about it being a masterpiece, it's a pretty simple set up this time, no fancy stuff LOL.

Hi2all, thank you, it will just be my DD and her SO, unless they invite another. She and her SO are used to my stuff, so it's not too big of a deal to them. As long as my DD doesn't have to do the dishes she's happpy. LOL

What she and her SO look forward to is the "goody bag" they always get with special dinners (nothing expensive, it's just a more grownup version of an easter basket). They are still kids at heart, which is fine with me, cause when it comes to goodies, I'm a big kid too. LOL

Judith I love your idea of a grown up Easter basket for your DD. I need to plan something like that next year for my 3 kids. I think they'd get a huge kick out of it. Two will be in their 40's then, but they are still my KIDS. My DD is going out of town this Easter weekend, and not sure what my oldest DS plans are. But I'd need more time to plan something anyway. Keep those ideas coming, my Too Long to Do List has your name all over it lately. LOL

Karen, my SIL has two Easter egg hunts every year. One for the kids, and one for the adults. They live on a farm though, and she has plenty of room to hide the adult eggs. She is quite creative at hiding them, and even has prize eggs. Some of the grown-ups really get a big kick out of it.

Your table is shaping up to be perfectly beautiful, Judith....can't wait to see the final result! It's always a treat to see your tablescapes....they're so very pretty.

Lee, your Easter egg hunt reminds me of one we had at the community house a few years ago. The local farm donated 100's of eggs ( he charges 3.00 a dozen for them!!) and vols had to color them. It seems someone forgot to cook them first, or if they did, they were soft boiled stage. You can imagine the mess as 50 little ones ran all over picking them up and having them squish in their hands or stepping on the gushing eggs. What a mess!

You reminded me of our adult egg hunts. Someone was always cracking a hard boiled egg on someone else's head so one year someone got the idea to bust a raw egg. Now every year you never know which egg is raw and who's going to get it. And we always hope nobody thinks to use extra raw eggs. LOL

judith, LOVE your table! Those white chargers are soooo nice and those cabbage leaf dishes are just great. The green goblets are awesome! I love the color!

I really admire Judith's talent for tablesettings. I've been playing around with mine last night and today. Yes, I am taking pics as I go. I've tried placemats, then lace cloth, now I am going to try another tablecloth. I've also tried to do a couple of different centerpiece ideas--both are just okay--nothing special yet. I will keep playing with it--but it is time consuming and a bit frustrating too! LOL

I know what would happen! I'm sure they would turn it into a raw egg fight. Have you ever been the recipient? Or, most probably, the one *with* the raw egg? lol

Hi2all, I was the very 1st recipient of the raw egg on the head thanks to my DB, but I got him back the next year so I guess I'm guilty as well. This was always our own little family and if we had guests, they were never included in the extra fun.

Judith, I wondered if you've found your perfect green candles yet? I ask because I've had a hard time finding candles (good candles) lately....according to one of the retail mags we suscribe to, shops are scaling their candle stock down "because they're so widely available elsewhere, like Costco, WalMart, etc." The sales in smaller stores has dropped considerably from years past....even Pier One, that bastion of candlehood, has a much smaller selection now. I bought some tapers that were the right color from HomeGoods over the Christmas holiday, and they were horrible....very smoky, burned unevenly though they weren't in a drafty place and dripped all over my mantlecloth, to boot.

Karen, yes, its a tradition with me to do "easter" surprise for my DD (she's 28, but still a big kid, but she'll always be my little baby LOL) This year it's a bunch of Hello Kitty things from Target (they had a great amount of Hello Kitty in their Dollar section) Her boyfriend will get some fancy chocolates (small box of 3, he has expensive taste in chocolate) and a mini flash light for his key ring but he is easy to please and he enjoys it too.

Speaking of Easter egg hunts, my DD's corporation does an Easter Hunt outside on their grounds with nice prizes in the eggs, you should see all the ADULT workers out there scurrying around looking for eggs in their suits and high-heels LOL.

Luvs, I am looking forward to seeing your table, and don't feel bad about it taking time, there are lots of times when my "intended look" doesn't come together the way I want at ALL or it takes a long time, so beleive me I have lots of frustrations with this stuff too sometimes, just hang in there!

Yachter, thank you, and I am looking forward to seeing your setting too. That is the fun of tablesetting, (or anything creative) thinking outside ones normal paramaters and discovering something that you did not know about yourself, but was there all along.

A tablesetting doesn't have to be fancy to be pretty, you know what I mean. I'm always thrilled with anything that someone does, its the time and effort made that is most important, it's all about the LOVE!

sandi, don't worry, just skip the place matts or look around for some pretty Easter dish towels, Walmart and Target has some nice ones, I have used them before as a placemat when I could not find the other "style".

PS, I STILL have not found the right green voltive candles ARGGGGGHHHHH, time to think outside the box, any suggestions?

Hello ladies - How about we start a thread just dedicated to our easter tablesettings. I have yet to take a picture of mine. It will have to wait til after I do my food shopping as my current tulips are looking really bad!

Judith, speaking of tulips - if you can't find the right color candle (by the way I just received an email from Yankee Candle Company and they are having a sale on all their votives and tarts - either online or in the store if you have one near your)--you can cut the top off an egg, get rid or use the yolks, clean out the egg, fill with water, put a tulip or daff or whatever flower you like in it. To keep it from toppling over put some easter grass in the holder, I used the paper grass, and nest the egg in that. I have attached a webpage that visualizes what I am trying to get at.

Or maybe have the bunny hold small bag of jelly beans or pastel m&m's like he is giving a gift to your guest.

Just a thought--but maybe you could "paint" a votive. I've actually sponge painted gold on a larger candle before. For a small votive, I wouldn't even worry about using the candle medium. The acrylic paints are waterbase, so shouldn't be any problem with the flames.

I like the jelly bean or M&M idea that Flamingo suggested. But then, I LIKE jelly beans and M&M's! LOL

I am going to upload pics of my attemps at a tablesetting for Easter--so get ready to laugh. You can all vote on which I should go with and what else I should do to make them better. This is a learning experience for me--so I am NOT going to be shy about showing my efforts--how else am I going to get it right? I'll put them in a new post.

I love the Carolina Candles I get at Kohl's(1/2 of department store prices!), and think they might have the shade of green you're looking for. If not, try Illuminations~*my* second choice for candles that actually smell good.

Will be watching for the finished table. ;o)

You certainly did great with the two tone look...remember that was the intention for my own easter table and then it ended up with three colors...lol...I love the topiary bunny...and the little bunny votive/egg cups...how about blowing out eggs...dying or painting the egg the green you want ...taking of the top of the egg off like for the egg vases and putting a tealight in it???....
I also saw at joanns candles that looked like an opened egg...the inside of the egg was pastel colored wax but the outside egg was white...maybe that would work as a votive???

Look at all this beautiful stuff. Ladies, I still use my original green floral Corelware, it actually fits in with my primitive decorating these days. It's so old, it's now antique LOL!! I've had it since I was 18. I have wanted new every day dishes for over 30 years and just could never find something that "popped out" at me when looking. Ok, ok, I do have my good Four Crown Southampton China which I bring out for the holidays. And, I've had that since I was 24, my sis bought it on a Naval Base while in Japan with her husband stationed there. She paid $30 for a full 8 piece place setting, with the accessory dishes/bowls, etc. I should be happy I have good china. So please, when I die, please don't put that ole' ugly green Corelware in with me, I don't want to take it with me. I hope you are all ROFL.

flamingo, I'm also doing the little egg shells with flowers in some little egg cups. They're ready to go and just waiting for the flowers. I am going to paint names on the eggs and use them for placecards. I also like the way the site you posted has them in the little footed dish with what looks like colored gravel.

This has nothing to do with the subject, but my daughter, granddaughter and I used to get together, blow out the eggs, and decorate them. It was on a different day than gd's regular Easter egg coloring. We always had a wonderful time. It was especially enjoyable as the granddaughter got older. We always initialed and dated the completed eggs. I had a special basket I kept them in. My daughter and I enjoyed decorating our eggs as much as gd did. Eventually the older eggs fell apart, but I still have one from 1997 and one from 1999.

Judith, I had a hard time finding candles too, was looking for a very soft shade of yellow & no luck! I also have to watch the scent of the candles as I have allergies & can only tolerate fruit scents, no flower scents at all or I'll be sick for days! Wonder what is up with the candles???

Was in Walmart today & by their candles they had a sign said "colors of spring" and not one yellow candle!!!

Well, it is 8:25 am on Saturday and it is SNOWING!!!! No snow all winter and now this, and it is sticking, I still have to meet a couple of ladies for the Daffodil Festival, I think they are nuts, but I said I'd go......

Yachter, I know what you mean, in fact one rule I do stick to is no scented candles at the table, they have to be "plain-no-scent" so that can make it doublely challenging to find something. My DD has a very sensitive nose she can smell something 20ft away! Now, she loves nice smelling candles, just not at dinner, same with me, I want to smell what I prepared.

Hi2all, I know you, DD and DFD had so much fun decorating the blown-out eggs and the memories will last forever. I am surprised a blown egg has held together for 10 yrs. I'll take pics later today when the table is set. And yes, I've posted pics of the dishes I will be using, but I've just mixed them a little differently. They're nothing fancy at all, but they make me smile.

Yachter, I looked everywhere for the soft yellow candles this year also. With all of the yellow being seen online in decorating you would think yellow candles would be easy to find.

Judith, I bought some little silk flowers to do an Easter topiary (thank you Kathleen) and had some I didn't use so I'm using them in my egg cups.

Snow! Oh no, thought everyone was pretty much past that now. Hopefully, the sun will come out and melt it away quickly. A daffodil festival sounds too fun to miss--regardless of the weather! Have fun, Judith.

I have roses in bloom now! One bush is beautiful long stemed deep pink ones. Also a soft yellow one and a soft pink one with tiny little blooms. I just love roses. They make me happy.

Judith and all, it is so cold here, but I imagine most of you (unless you're in Calif. or Fla.) are feeling the cold snap too. I can't believe it, I'm in the midwest, Illinois & we've had days in the 80's already this spring & now this! High of 29 today & don't even want to see what the low is tonite & we have snow predicted too! Bummer, I want spring!!!

Yachter, I'm in California and we've sure had colder weather than normal this year. It's been pretty overcast and misting rain here today. Most of my family are in Missouri, so I have been hearing about the unusual weather in the Midwest this year. I just worry about all the flowers when the temps get so warm then plunge so low and cold again. Only a few more weeks surely.

Sandi, you will have to share your rose story when you have more time. I'm planning on sending some roses home with DIL tomorrow--she always enjoys the flowers from my yard. Best wishes for a wonderful Easter to you too. ;o)

Luvs, my daffodils & tulips are ruined! We had such cold nites this past week, they are laying on the ground like a truck ran over them & they were all budded out & ready to bloom! I see all the neighbors are too, what a waste!

My weeping cherry tree was loaded with beautiful blooms last week & now they look brown! UGH!

This is truly rediculous to get that warm & then this cold, I mean it's winter cold here! I had put most of my winter clothes away, we went out for a while today & I dug out corduroy jeans to wear!!

Some Easter, most of the country is below normal right now. I usually do an easter egg hunt for the gkids in the front yard but not this year, it's too darn cold!!

I AM FREEZING!! What happened? Our winter is over and all of a sudden this cold snap came through and it went down to 37 degrees last night. I live in Florida so we are never prepared for the cold - don't even own a coat. Even though it was chilly yesterday, we hid the eggs for the kids (more than once) and they had a great time. Of course we hide plastic ones - no one wants to eat boiled eggs here - and we had our egg hunt on Saturday because of all the commitments everyone has. Glad we did since it got nasty last night.

Sorry to hear about your flowers, yachter. We are having a continuous concrete edging put around the house Monday so I won't plant flowers until after that.

Judith, your table is always gorgeous. You have a good eye for color - matched and coordinated. I can't add anything that the girls haven't already said. But what is in the bottom right corner? It looks like silver leaves?

Paintingfool, 37 is nothing, come to Illinois, our high is less than that!!! I am so sick of winter, but I'm sure in Florida, you don't expect temps like that!!! Illinois is always unpredictable in the spring, but with having about 3 weeks of nice 70's and even an 80 we got spoiled & sure didn't winter back again! ENOUGH already!

Paintingfool, those are silverplated "utensils" in a leaf design with "twig" design handles. I used them for serving salad out of the main bowl, or for "retrieving" desserts. I like using them with my "natural" themed items like the cabbage dishes. I sure wish I could find this in regular silverware placesettings.

Judith, did you enjoy your Easter dinner? And did you find your candles or just use some jellybeans?

Do you already have a "home" in mind for your green bunny, or will he get packed away till next year?

And where is your beautiful brown bunny being displayed. He was my most favorite one.

luvs, Yes, I enjoyed my dinner very much, I hope yours went well too. Nope never did find candles until the day after Easter, by accident, they were the perfect color too, called Colonial Candles...I think, but they are pricy, and I am cheap LOL

Yes, I will probably use the green bunny again, because he is not "cutesy" so he will fit in with somethings for the spring and summer I think.

Are you talking about the faux chocolate bunny? He was bunny-napped by my DD, she said I had plenty of stuff, and that I needed to "share" LOL Her bunny-napping demands are: 12 freshly baked cupcakes will ensure his safe return.
