Can anyone recommend a good electric range with grill?

We live on a farm, with no access to gas lines...so no gas appliances. We could do propane, but would rather not. So, electric seems to be the best choice, at least for now.

So, can anyone recommend a good (or even great) electric range, with grill? We'd like to have at least one oven and the ability to broil. There's enough room to have an electric range, up to 48" wide, but not necessary. There will be a separate wall oven, in the baking area.

Also, we'd like to get a larger vent/hood (larger than whatever size range we find) so that my husband can use his deep fryer and not smoke up the house! Same thing goes for the grill and broiler, too :)

I could only find one 40" range with a grille at AJmadison, and it was a coiltop. I would get an induction range and a seperate grille. AJMadison has a couple of Mieles and a Wolf that look nice.

Lavender_Lass, have you considered or explored if you can you do liquid propane tank? If so, there are a number of dual fuel ranges to choose from. Here is a link with examples.

Nick you won't have an algae problem for a long time. You live in a very dry climate so the air sucks the moisture out. Eventually you will get it and with your structure having a wood frame, it will be very hard to eliminate. I don't use a fogger but after a couple of years I started getting it on the lower half of the poly where the natural humidity gathers. It is easy to remove - it is having to crawl under the tables with the bucket and sponge that is the hard part. I can't imagine how much RO water you run through with the fogger. I would be too cheap to waste 2/3 of the water. It would be cheaper to replace the fogger. Brooke

I have had good luck with K&H Manufacturing, model 9000. I use it in a 26" diameter, 3" deep in middle, bird bath. It is only 50watts but will usually keep the bath from freezing solid almost down to 0' F. At the colder temps thin ice forms but is easily broken up and the effect can be "boosted" by occasionally adding warm water.

Unless you'll have a commercial range hood (https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/5161173/hood-faq) I'd recommend against it. Grilling indoors produces a lot of splatter and a lot of greasy/steamy/odor laced effluent that will spread throughout your house and not smell nearly as good in a few hours, tomorrow or next week as it did when you were cooking. I've only known of one person who, after getting a grill in their range, used it and was happy. Most, including two chefs, decide that the downsides far outweigh the benefits. You may be the second to like it but statistically not likely. Even though we're in Minnesota we'll grill outside all year. Much easier and much better indoor environment. BTW, very cool about doing sous vide 10 years ago!

They are all in pots. I am selecting for the hardiest individuals from among hundreds of total plants grown from seed. And, honestly, I would feel guilty bothering people with every one of the problems I am experiencing... I ordered a book overnight:Growing conifer seedlings, transplants, and trees in an outdoor nursery by Donald B. Hilliker. That said, the long version of the problems are as follows. Abies koreana, Pinus cembra, Pinus longaeva, Pinus nigra 'Austriaca', and Pinus sibirica all came through the winter (along with others, but they're fine). Pinus longaeva came through quite strong. Abies koreana, Pinus cembra, and Pinus sibirica, came through okay. Two weeks after the last snow storm it got extremely hot. We had 90degF temps for three days. I don't think I watered enough at that time. Since then I have been moving them into different light on different parts of the property. I believe that I have been successful finding good light and watering levels for Pinus cembra and sibirica, and Pinus nigra 'Austriaca'. Almost all of my Abies koreana and Pinus longaeva continue to do very poorly. The pinus longaeva picked up when I moved them into more sun, but I believe that when I moved them again (I was going to set up a new space just for them) I really upset them. The half dozen Abies Koreana that survived are doing very poorly. While I know that I can find a lot of the information that I'm looking for doing research online that can be extremely time consuming and I am working with dozens of different plants (from self-seeding annuals to Pinus longaeva). So I am looking for a comprehensive resource on conifers--like a textbook--that can give me a broad base of knowledge from which I can draw because I haven't got all the time in the world :)

If your house is like my friend's who live rurally, electric power is not reliable. Hence having a propane cooktop is not such a bad idea.

Actually, our electric is pretty reliable. If our power goes out, it's usually out for most of the area, due to ice storms or other severe weather. Also, an above ground propane tank is really not appealing. We have hunters and bad drivers (one just hit our house a few months ago) and I cringe at the thought of one, shooting/hitting the propane tank.

That being said...I've found some nice electric ranges online, mainly from the UK. Here are a few Rangemasters that would be great (although a bit bigger than I need) but they would fit in the space. Just FYI, they can bury the LP tank. Usually the way it's done when they reach a certain size, or to get the ugly thing out of sight.

Jenn-Air has a modular unit that has two burners, downdraft and a grill. Have you looked at the Miele combi modules? Not a range but you can configure as needed and then add an electric oven.

The range ur looking for doesn't seem to be popular - just like the induction range I want (pro look, color options) - only options are European (not really an option) or the Viking.
