Miele Optima vs KA KUDE60...a few observations
Comments (13)ATTENTION PEOPLE No dishwasher is silent or anywhere near silent. Do not believe your friends or neighbors, or GWebbers or the sales or marketing people. That product just doesn't exist. The new generation of dishwashers especially the Europeans are very quiet. That is not silent. Do not take what someone around here say literal: "I can't hear my dishwasher when it's running" They really mean: it's very quiet and "I can barely hear it" and "compared to that GE Potscrubber I had it darnnear sounds silent" Not really the same as silent. Fridge had a poor experience with Miele service, no one is perfect as these companies employ humans and all of their frailaties. What people gush about around hear is that Miele generally makes really good products and responds well to service. They do make a shoddy item once in a while and have some turkeys working for them but odds are favorable you'll have a good experience. Besides , who else gives you your money back because you don't like a dishwasher 3 months later? Other brands don't have as good of odds, but even so you can still get a unit that works well for 20 years or finds a gem of a customer service rep should you call on them too. Nothing is absolute or lasts long term. Look at Toyota, they pretty much owned the car industry at the turn of the century, lead everyones top 10 list and were lights out with J.D. Powers. Got a bit too big for their britches the last 2 years and things have changed. It's NO GUARANTEE , just ask the folks that bought a Prius recently who reasoned "it's a Toyota, it'll be great, perfect , and lovely for ever, and if it breaks they'll hold my hand and ply me with hot chocolate and I'll feel all warm and fuzzy again." samie - western Canada is very large and sparsely populated, how many svc. techs would make you feel good? A better question to ask would have been " My DW is broken, how long before you can get to my house to look at it?"...See MoreMiele Optima problems
Comments (7)Fauguy, thanks for the info. I am using salt and rinse aid (not miele brand). I think the salt is set to 5 or 6, I dont remember, but I checked my local water authority's numbers before setting it. I usually use sani wash because I have weak hopes the super hot water will lead to better drying. The lack of a dryer is something I am still struggling with as I hate having to hand dry dishes before putting them away and I dont want to ruin my cabinets by putting wet dishes in. I had to go with this type of DW due to inset cabinets so there wasnt any option to have a dryer but it's still a little painful. I am not sure about the tab function, my dw is integrated with a panel, so I dont have anything on the front. I am currently running my first load with a 1/2 miele tab so we will see. We ran the conditioner. I am running it on pots and pans now on your suggestion. However, on the finish cycle thing, when I open the door after it running at night, it still has a red light on it. So is that normal? Its clearly done, but I have to manually switch it off. I turned off the bell that rings when it is done with a cycle b/c I couldnt believe it but it rings like FIVE times over an HOUR, and I could hear it going off at like 1am. I almost took a club to the thing until I figured out how to silence it. Now I would like to silence my sharp microwave drawer which seems to thing something being done is on par with a medical emergency and beeps non-stop until its attended to. I think my new appliances are making me cranky. Anyway, thanks for the info. I guess I will just have to see what else happens. I'm still not convinced a two month old dishwasher should gush water out of the sides during a cycle for ANY reason, even if I did fill the soap dispenser up. Why would they make a soap dispenser that is only supposed to be filled 1/3 of the way? Crazy! Amy...See Morehow to clean Miele Optima ss door?
Comments (7)I was never a big fan of paneled appliances. Our KD designed the kitchen with a paneled DW. DH liked the idea, but I was very resistant at first. When I finally decided to do it, I reasoned, at least it would be one less appliance/SS thing in the kitchen to clean. I am very happy I made that choice. When closing the DW door, I tend to push the door up below the handle, which means the front of the DW would have been covered with smudges and fingerprints constantly had we gone with SS. Of course, now that I know what a PIA the KA SS doors are to clean; as much as I like the look of a SS fridge, I do feel a twinge of regret that noone pushed me to panel that as well!...See MoreIs the Miele Optima DW the one for me?
Comments (13)I have had a Miele "Diamante" for three years now and LOVE it!! I guess that's the "middle of the line" Miele but to me it's the best I've ever had. My sister -in law has had the "bottom of the line" for 8 years with 0 service calls. The plastic does come out wet and there are a few "puddles" here and there if something has a dipped top, unless I crack the door right after the drying cycle goes off and leave it for a while. That's what the installer told me to do. Leaving it closed causes condensation. I guess there's some kind of new "plastic" dishwaser additive that is supposed to help with that.... BEWARE: if you don't want to be replacing your dishwasher in 5 years don't go American. My last one lasted 4 years. Better to spend more now and save money and headache. Even the bottom of the line Miele is better than the top of the line Whirlpool/etc. in my humble opinion. Good luck!!...See Moredoronin
