OT--Sweet birthday surprise!

Yesterday the mailman brought me a lovely birthday card from our sweet, thoughtful Karen. Inside was a gift card for the new Hobby Lobby we now have in my area! What a perfect gift! I'll look forward to my next day out so I can stop by there and find a new treasure or two or maybe even three!;o) Thank you so much,Karen.

Had a wonderful day today. A friend came by with breakfast for the three of us along with a pretty yellow pillow for the office/bedroom I've been redoing and the promise of season I and II of Downton Abbey. For those who haven't seen it, it's been on PBS and is a wonderful story. I missed season I so can't wait for the DVD to arrive! Also got a pretty new teapot from another neighbor along with an assortment of teas and a new set of Oneida silverware for 12 from DS and family.

Friends and family are sure the "silver lining" to reaching "Medicare" age don't you think? LOL

Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday. Maybe we can wander through Hobby Lobby together, one of these days.

I am a Downtown Abby lover too. We Tivo the series and then watch a little every night until it's over. And we are, of course, very sad to have reached the end of the season, as the characters worm their way into your heart.

Im so sorry Lucy they are actually Tricolor Daisy's. I didnt know until I just pulled out the seeds. My landlord loves us. When we moved in here this place was neglected, over grown, and full of weeds. We have done so much here. Im well over $1000 in flowers, and misc garden stuff just this year alone. I work a second job in the summer just to support my habbit. We have been here for 5 years, and have no plans on moving anytime soon. We are even in the middle of laying sod, and a new 10x12 patio which is not cheap. I figure if we have to live here and look at it Im going to make it something I want to look at. I will just take all the Perennials with me when I leave. My husband says I cant take my rock wall with me I built last year, I tell him he is crazy its coming! This is a shot of my rock wall and another garden, This was a hill of weeds last summer. This picture was taken on 6-29, it changes daily with new things blooming. Hi everyone, Sorry I've ebeen AWOL for awhile. Spring is always such a busy time. I've been trying to get the yard & gardens cleaned up. DH is expecting to start a new job in a couple of weeks, its suppose to pay about twice as much. He'll be driving OTR again with only one day home per week so we're trying to get stuff here taken care of beforehand (building GH, fixing stuff, etc).He gave his current job his 2 wk notice just 2 days ago and they called today letting him go (on his day off)! Now we're really hoping the new job is as good as it sounds!! I got the last of my WS potted yesterday. Out of 160+ jugs there were only about 15-20 that didn't sprout...not bad I guess for my first WS attempt. I'm waiting for my BIL to till my new gardens so I can plant stuff...alot of my potted seedlings have bloomed! Bluebonnets, Lacy Phacelia, and Nasturtiums of every color! I hope they're still blooming by the time I get them in the gardens! Kym, thanks for sending the May list in advance! At least I won't get behind on that! LOL I'm fine with recieving emails from forum members...sounds like you have an interesting game up your sleeve. Count me in! I hope all April Bday buddies are having a wonderful BDay month!!!!! LOL! Carol, don't worry about Stella. In this house (according to her) it's all about Stella! Those two cats are still rolling around in the catnip, and enjoying a bite of it too, from time to time. I've got a couple of stoners here! I tried to hide the package from them, but they found it while I was at work and "spread the love" all over the office while I was at work. I swept it back up, but they'll probably be into it again today. Who needs cable when I've got Bump and Stella for entertainment? ((chuckle)) And the birthday goes on! This is sooo cool! Yesterday I received 2 great cards in the mail, one from Sue/suecirish and one from Andrea/appaloosa909. They both had some great seeds in them. THANK YOU LADIES!!! After this month, I kind of pity the seed companies. I don't think I'll be making a seed order for next year. I'm getting plenty of seeds from my friends here on the GW! Lol!..... Luvs, Belated Happy BD. Sorry I am late, but I have to beg ignorance/ I didn't know it was your BD until I read it here. Isn/t Karen just the nicest person. Enjoy your gift and your time out. Awww! what a cute little puppy too! Yes, I will make it a point to put HL on my next errand list. I've only been in the store two times since it opened, and the first time was just a really fast run through. Can't wait to get in on some of their after holiday sales for sure. ;o)

Luvs, they have a 40% off coupon in the paper once a week (or every other week) and you can go online to get coupon mailed to you also. They have lots of sales on good stuff, not just holiday things.

How the heck can anyone do a FAST run through in THAT place? LOL

Thanks Kathleen and Yachter, my friend next door says I get to celebrate all month not just the one day so you are not late at all. ;o)

Yachter, so sorry your back is still giving you problems. You need one of those Ipads so you can lay in bed and connect with us here, right??

Karen, when you are paying for someone to stay with DH and your alloted time is almost up, you have no choice but to do a quick run thru! I get their emails with coupons as well as the ads in the paper so will be sure to take a coupon along when I get to go.

I know its almost impossible for you to get out and shop these days, and being "on the clock" sure takes the fun out of things. Your situation is heart-wrenching, to say the least. Being a full time caregiver is so physically and emotionally draining.
