Single Wall Oven, KA or Bosch?

I'd done my research and was all set to buy the Electrolux 30" convection single wall oven. BUT the appliance store that we are going to purchase our DW and induction cooktop from don't carry Electrolux. They have told us that Bosch (500 series) or KitchenAid (KEBS107SS) are comparable in function and price to the Electrolux. DH wants to purchase all of the appliances from one place, It seems silly to fight him on this issue (although I will if necessary).

If you had to choose between Bosch or KA convection oven which would you choose? OR would you get the Electrolux and not worry about purchasing all the appliances from the same dealer?

We bake a lot but have never had a convection oven before. The KA is a little pricier than the Bosch so DH prefers the Bosch. I just want an oven that works well and does everything I expect it to.

I have the bosch 800 series single oven 30" and love it. It works great. But not sure that's helping you.

I have not read much that was good about KA. We ran into the same issue and I ordered the Electrolux oven and speed oven from AJ Madison. Easy breezy - would do it again in a heartbeat.

That being said, I have read good things about the Bosch and that would be my inclination over the KA.

You might check into Fisher & Paykel, making sure you have service available in your area. You ruled out Electrolux? Both of those have glide racks, and in my experience the F&P is superb for baking. But still, I'd take my chance on the Bosch before I'd spend for the Monogram. The answer to your original question is, after having one, I don't see a reason to shell out any extra to have it. It is attractive to look at... By the way, mine worked correctly for how it was engineered to work -- It wasn't just a 'lemon'...But the limited rack positions, the inability to adjust the temperature in less than 25 degree increments, and, mostly it's inability to achieve and maintain the temp, with its engineered heat-recovery response to kick on the preheat mode so the result was burned baked goods, make it a lesser option than the Bosch, IMO. I think the difference in those who like it and those who hate it is how much they bake vs how much they roast meats, cook casseroles, heat frozen food, etc. The Monogram is OK for meats, etc., and probably even for the occasional cake or batch of cookies, just not for avid bakers who need accurate and even heat, and consistency. Very interesting about the Benchmark line. Thanks for the info! Strange, I thought the Bosch 800 NGM8654UC had a 17K BTU center burner because that's what it says on ajmadison, but now I see 18K everywhere else. It looks like the 36" cooktop will be around $1550 which is not too much more than the 800 series MSRP $1300, but the single wall ovens will be closer to $3K, which might be too much additional $$. Do you think there will be rebates or sales after the Benchmarks come out in April (on Benchmarks on on Bosch in general)? I'm now leaning towards Bosch for cooktop, dishwasher, and single wall oven. Built-in refrigerator too, if I'm convinced about paying a premium for built-in vs a counter depth (Kitchenaid, for example). I'm also not sure how to avoid a Bosch microwave while avoiding a strange mix in the wall oven cabinet (if in the wall). We had a convection microwave before, and while I reheat things in it all the time, I never used it as an oven, so a cheap microwave seems like the best idea. I'm at a loss where to put the MW, though.

IMHO, they look fine next to each other. I'd go for function of each appliance over matching them any day. Here's my built-in KA fride next to my Wolf L ovens. I think they look fine next to each other. I love, love both appliances. I couldn't imagine using KA ovens instead of my wonderful floor model Wolfs. Similarly, a built-in SZ, with handles resembling the ones on Wolf ovens, was far out of my budget. So I mixed the two brands and am happy I did.

Our Bosch 800 30-inch double oven has convection/broil on top and standard bake/broil on lower. In the six months we've had it, the convection oven has had three service calls for different problems. I'm totally struggling with the convection baking results, no matter what I try. I know there's a learning curve, but I question if it's me or the oven. The lower non-convection is a dream. If I had it to do over again at this point, I'd probably forgo the convection, although I do like the proof and pizza modes.

From all we have seen, at least here in GW, the Bosch has a much better reliability record that does the KA.

Maybe the new KA's are better, but many of us folks here are turned off by the way KA Addressed the problem, and as far As I know, KA still denies there was ever a problem with self cleaning the oven, unlike Elux, that did have a few problems in 2010 but so have all the others.

The Elux problem was no where near the magnitude of KA), but they admitted it and addressed the problem (Except) I would have liked to seen them pay the whole $300 for the replacement of the reset button on one that was 13 months old, instead of just paying $100, but that is still better than most companies do, with few exceptions.

In your case, since you are buying a single oven, your chances for oven failure after self cleaning is probably unlikely with any of the 3 ovens your are considering, but due to the above, and many positive posts about the Bosch Ovens I would lean that way, but myself, having owned an Elux Icon Oven for more than 5 years, and loving it (trouble free and quiet), I would buy one again in a hearbeat!!

Thanks for your comments. I do appreciate it. I am going to try to convince DH to purchase the Electrolux oven separately from the other appliances and if that fails then I will get the Bosch. That's how I was leaning to begin with and it helps to hear that from others who have personal experience with these manufacturers.
