Lauren's New Vintage Bathroom
Comments (1)Wow!! Absolutely beautiful. I love how the door turned out on the window - it actually looks really good. I really like how you've combined the vintage with the modern shower. Looks fabulous....See Morefinished bathroom - sleek & modern master bath!
Comments (58)We used two of the lights - one over each sink. We did another bathroom in that house (we've since moved) - that bathroom was 5'x8', and we used one of the Artemide lights. It was plenty bright enough in there! We had the lights on a dimmer, which was really nice. Yes, our contractor built out a soffit above the medicine cabinets. It wasn't my first choice for how to do it, but it ended up looking really good. I wanted to recess the cabinets, but the Ikea ones are not made to do that, and the finish details were too complicated to make it work. So we decided on the soffit, which was much simpler. I wouldn't hesitate to do it the same way again....See MoreBeware Hudson Reed
Comments (5)I'm sorry to read this also. We have three Hudson Reed fixtures -- two lavatory faucets and a gorgeous exposed-valve shower set. Their customer service was fabulous, and the quality of the fixtures appears to be much higher than the price would suggest. One of the lavatory faucets and the shower set has been in use for close to 2 years with no problems. The other lavatory faucet was only installed about 6 months ago. For folks who are thinking about using Hudson Reed -- I would not dismiss all of their products automatically, but rather take a 'hedge your bets' approach. Lavatory faucets are EASY to replace, so that would be a safe place to try one out. Even though a few of the HR comments I'd read were negative, we decided to go ahead with the HR exposed-valve shower because if any problems were to occur, they would be immediately visible in the exposed workings. So far, there have been no problems, and our $450 shower looks and works as great as the $2500 alternative....See MoreHudson Valley pendants in old bronze - opinions..
Comments (24)I have the Hudson Valley Randolph pendants in Historic Bronze. I have two of the smallest size above my island, and one of the larger ones above my breakfast room table. I'm not sure how to describe the color, but I really like it. It just looks like a nice ORB to me. And the quality of the fixtures seems really good, IMHO. This is not the best picture, but it's the only one I have access to at the moment. I'll try to take more when I get home tonight. In answer to your questions, I wouldn't describe Haverhill as contemporary at all. And I think the 8" would be a great size for a 6' island. My island is around 5', my pendants are 7" in diameter. Hope this helps! P.S. In case anyone cares: My cabinet hardware is from the Top Knobs Somerset Collection in "Old Iron". I chose this because the ORB didn't pop at all on my cherry cabs. "Flat Black" would have been fine, but the Old Iron had silvery undertones that I thought would work well with the stainless appliances. But - having a tendency to be matchy-matchy - I then had a hard time deciding what color pendants to use. Once everything was in, I realized it worked out fine - better than fine, actually - to mix the metals between the appliances, hardware, and pendants. :-)...See Moreacountryfarm
