Can you use antiquing glaze etc over spray paint?
Comments (3)I would get some craft acrylic antique copper or bronze paint. Mix it with a little glaze and maybe a dab of water. Then with a stiff stencil brush, I would put a little on the brush and rub off excess on a paper towel. THen dab and streak it throughout very lightly, leaving a little excess in all the nooks and crannies. The worst that could happen is you have to paint the chair over and start from scratch. Its only paint... try it out. Yes, for outdoor use, a spray of poly would be wise....See MoreCan I glaze painted black cabinets? Color suggestions?
Comments (2)I've seen dark red on black, often on fake antique Chinese furniture. What about distressing instead--sand off some of the black? You'd probably want to stain the exposed oak afterwards or it'd be too light, but it might be fun (for YOU to do...heh heh)....See Morecan I use a 'glaze' to acheive this?
Comments (5)We really wanted something with some depth to it - the color looks washed out - like it has faded. The sheen was to be eggshell but I think it looks more like flat. The painter suggested the glaze as a way to add some depth to the color - I thought it would just make it darker. but I really want it to look more eggshell than flat. an aside my neighbor thinks that the paint has to much pigment in it and that is my the finish is not as "shiny" as I would like...See MoreCost of Glazed Ceramic Tile (Heath, Pratt & Larson)...etc
Comments (65)dgormish, I did use P&L Motif for my kitchen backsplash. I thought I had some earlier photos, but didn't find them. Here's a recent photo. The watercolor field tile, W78, is an almond color. It looks grayish in this picture because of the natural light this time of year in Los Angeles - "June gloom." P&L uses a different color chart for their Motif tiles than for their watercolors, so it took some effort to find a good color match between the field tile and the Motif. I had planned to include a liner between the Motif tiles and the framing tiles, but tile installer said I didn't need it. When he did the installation, he said something didn't quite line up and that he needed to add a liner. He asked if I had extra material from my countertop. So, the extra liner around the framing is Mont Blanc quartzite, from a remnant of my countertop....See Moremahatmacat1
