Pricing on 1/2' low iron shower glass - comment
Comments (0)For some reason, I can't post a comment to your message, so I'm starting another thread. A 1/2" shower door may be very heavy, so consider 3/8" for the door, while keeping the fixed panels 1/2". You really won't notice the difference in depth for the door. I'm speaking from experience....See MoreShower threshold marble "top" thickness: 1/2" or 3/4"?
Comments (11)Thanks all. Bill: 3cm = 1.2" thick curb? (Must look great!) That's 2.5x the thickness of mine! Still I should be ok? (I'm near Boston, MA: these Carrara curbs are common (in stock) at many tile shops near me and they are only 1/2" or 3/4" thick. I'm not going custom.) Seems it wouldn't be too costly if - worst case - it cracked and had to be replaced? (I.e., if I hired the tile guy to come back. The curb is $100. I'm in a very high labor cost area.) No shower glass to remove/replace. And I realize the edges by the existing tile - we're using 3x6 ceramic glossy subway tile American Olean Brights - might get messed up a bit and that's fine. We're using Bright White grout to minimize issues on the walls. (Dark gray on floor.)...See Moreframeless glass shower - 3/8 or 1/2”

Comments (12)Talked to my tile installer and he was able to provide this to me. This is a residential steam shower and not a continuous use shower (which is what you need the DS for). See below for KERDI info. I’m a structural engineer and ran a calculation on a 10.5 ft 1/2” panel and it worked fine. The 3/8” was not working - BUT we were very conservative with our assumption (assumed spanned full height and will actually be supported on 4 sides). Looking for others who have done something this tall...trying to avoid a much deeper structural analysis to prove it will work and get installed feed-back. What did you use? Thanks!...See Moreandreadeg
