I'm really not familiar with your thrower. It sounds as though that the clutch is not fully disengaging from your description.

IâÂÂll hope itâÂÂs a simple cable matter since we had to rem the cable to weld. The initial problem was the 6âÂÂ- 4â loaned noticed the handles were not positioned as they were. The Bottom Line is my 45 yr Mechanical Friend Is Too Busy! to take his time even with all his equipment. The 45 yr Non Mechanical Friend will not look for or know a simple needed adjustment or etc.. In my case, we have enjoyed knowing/helping each other in many Fun Matters and Etc and hope this will not be a true issue. Unless we find something solid as damaged or needed adjustments, I feel our good visits, fishing and projects might be in the past. MTD 820 manual (but you can increase forward drive speeds while in motion). Engine on/off makes no difference to the behavior it seems and the problem just recently cropped up. Before it used to slide into position effortlessly now it requires a slight tap and when coming out of a position , it almost seems to be binding on something. Visually inspected and all it is is a rod that goes into the transmission housing and it isn't binding on anything I can see.

Remove the deck so you have a good unobstructed view of the ground drive belt system. Have a helper sit in the seat and push down on the clutch/brake pedal while you examine all the linkages in the mechanism from below the frame. You are looking for worn or loose pivots, pins or anything that can limit the travel of the components that put enough slack in the ground drive belt for the transmission input pulley and shaft to become "unpowered" so you can shift. Have you also noticed the clutch engaging at a lower pedal position when you try to get moving from a stop? That can also be a symptom of the same issue. If you have recently changed the belt and did not use an OEM spec belt there is a chance the belt is a fraction too short.
