Mary, I don't grow Hybrid Teas, but I do grow this row of Johann Strauss http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.3514&tab=1 which is a Romantica/Floribunda. I planted them in 2002 with the graft buried 6 inches below the soil line. I have bark chips on top and they winter kill to the ground every winter. Each spring they come up and have 3 bloom cycles. 2 of these roses are own root that are buried 2-3 inches down. Doing it this way always gives me 6 inches of surving cane. I have not lost any to the weather. They are close to the house but I had 3 planted farther out that I took out because they got so tall. The graft on them was buried as well. Here they are today, getting their water with the drip system. Here they are in their first bloom cycle from an earlier year. I plant all of my roses using this method, the rest of which are Austin roses. I rarely lose a rose except in the windiest part of my yard that doesn't get snow. Rebecca

You're so right about the path of suicide but, in my mind, I think they're may have been a genetic disposition to depression as I've known two families where the father committed suicide and then the child and their child. You'll never know but know that you are the one who suffered terrible blows and went on to make people happy and calm. That's your gift and your a sensitive, sweet, downright lovely person. Your Mom knew that and so did you Dad as well as your nephew. You took the high road and now to let it all go and get on with your life with the knowledge that you made all the right choices. I wanted to come back and give an update on my Honda CRV 2018. My Collision Mitigation System (CMS) suddenly and without warning activated. I was driving on the interstate at about 65 mph in the left lane when the brakes went to the floor and we decelerated to 30 mph in seconds before the brakes released. I was terrified and truly lucky the cars behind me were able to slow or get out of the way. Honda's only answer was, "this has happened with a few cars, and we don't see anything in your computer, but we could disconnect your CMS." This is not an answer. I am waiting now for an answer from Honda of North America. I did not pay for the more expensive model with (CMS) just to turn it off and I don't want to be killed or cause anyone else to be injured or killed. Just a warning about Honda's. I will post a separate thread with the resolution of this issue. Hopefully Honda will fix the issue and do the safe and correct thing.
