Buying large kitchen appliances from online store
Comments (15)I'll buy my major appliances online when: The online retailer will sponsor my local youth sports team, buy my daughter's Girl Scout cookies, donate time to a local charity, have their cars serviced in a local garage, use the corner dry cleaner's services, get a haircut, eat at a local restaurant, etc. If you live in a "sales tax" state and are able to avoid the tax by buying online, you are helping fund those same services in the other locale, while not contributing to the cost of services you enjoy in your own community. Regardless of your home state's means of funding, your local economy is enhanced by your purchases of big ticket items from local dealers and loses when you buy from out of state. In these hard economic times your local retailers really need your support. Store owners and employees are active in your community and contribute to the economy by buying the goods and services that may well be connected with the way you earn your own living. You can always get an online quote and use it as a negotiating tool with the local retailer. Most will try to either match the price, or provide extra services the online retailer cannot. To have a local company (with a reputation to uphold) looking out for your post-sale interests is an added bonus. Here's a thought for any who watched last weekend's Solheim Cup golf tournament. If an attitude of support and loyalty like that shown by the American team members were to be shown toward the local retails in our communities, the economy would be well served....See MoreKitchen Specialties: Your appliance super store!

Comments (10)The more important issue is how many months of warranty will you lose by purchasing early. The warranty begins when your appliances are delivered. As your appliances are sitting in your garage "for a few months", you will lose "a few months" of warranty. If you need a repair 6 months after installation (most problems arise in first year of ownership), and your warranty has expired cause you used up the first 6 months of your warranty during storage, your repair will likely cost you more than any Black Friday savings. People are so sucked in by Black Friday, I don't get it. There will always be another sale. I have not seen that Black Friday sales are any better than Christmas sales, post-Christmas sales, Presidents Day Sales, Spring Sales, 4th of July Sales, and all the other sales that are offered throughout the year. In fact, I suspect that the frantic nature of Black Friday means people hurriedly buy under pressure, and are not getting the best appliance or the best price on that day....See MoreCan you store kitchen appliances in garage during the winter?
Comments (11)We got our appliances today and put them in the family room. Checked the costco.ca website and the fridge is now $600 more and the dishwasher is $150 more and the range is no longer available. And these prices are about $2500 less than the competitors for the identical appliances, $3500 less than the MSRP of same appliances. We paid $499 + tax to cover any kitchen appliances over $4,000 for a total of 5 years. We will be staying for 4.5 years from the time of renovation and the extended warranty is transferable. So hoping in the end it all works out and we are still happy with our decision to go this route. Time will tell.......See Moremojavean
