Thanks, duchamp, for responding. I was planning to use matte on the floor. Slips in the bathroom really scare me. I guess I need to refine my questions to 1. Would you use matte on the walls and the floors or would you put glossy on the walls and matte on the floors? 2. Will using matte on the walls and the floors make the room look larger than using glossy on the walls and matter on the floors? 3. Would you used 10x13 matte on the floor if you use that size on the walls?

Well, as luck would have it our local tile guy has a wonderful selection of, well, tile. I stopped in there and have chosen.... drum roll...... carrera 12x12 porcelain tiles by American Olean. Very lovely and work beautifully with the pebble tile, paper and the paint colors. He's coming out Saturday to measure and we'll order and hopefully there will be a functioning, beautiful shower by mid-July. I am so much more excited by this than by the surround, which I was not at all excited by but rather resigned to by the lack of grout cleaning. But this stuff needs little grout and it's way higher on the aesthetic scale than the fiberglass surround, obviously. Maybe it serendipity that the dumb thing didn't work out? I even get to incorporate some pebble tile into the shelf nook that we're building in... thank you to the GW'er that suggested that idea! Good good. It'sall: looks like you have 12" tile, too? I like it. Thank you and everyone else for taking the time to help me get this sorted out.

Anyone? I'd love to see photos! I love the coloseum white bathrooms that have shown up recently--just want to check out the sardinian sand before we make a final decision on the tile.

Cathy-- no, this is the first time I've heard the term, but not the first time I've heard of the system. I just never knew what it was called. And if it's a short sale, it's probably a great deal. Bigtime short sale. For the condition it's in right now, the offer was for about 1/3 of the full value. To that, right off the bat, we'll be adding quite a bit of upgrades, including all new replacement windows throughout the house, a brand new heating system, and blown in insulation, which will only add to the value, making it an even better deal. We'll see. I still haven't heard from the bank yet, which means they didn't take it as a joke and refuse it right off. We'll see. As for the bathroom, I'm not sure what we're going to do. Personally, I'd prefer to do all new fixtures, and really fire it up. But my wife is another one who likes the vintage fixtures, so I may be overruled. :-) Gotta keep Momma happy!! One thing is for certain-- the tub will lose the showerhead, and a separate shower will be built.
