Popping Noise from Front Suspension

I have a 79 Dodge B300 1-ton 2WD van with 130K miles and when I try to make either a left or right sharp turn while parking (so moving very slowly), a popping noise can be heard from the front suspension area. Just once (popping) and that's it. If I drive straight or make wide turns, no noise at all. A long time ago I had the same noise coming from my 84 Mazda truck in a similar condition - which I never fixed and sold. Can anyone tell me what I should check on my Dodge van for the popping noise?

Thanks.

Without hearing the noise myself, I can't tell what it might be. There are so many possiblities. I will list a few below:

1. Badly worn ball joint.

2. Dry joints needing lube.

3. Loose steering box bolts.

4. Loose and dry wheel bearing.

5. Brake parts.

6. Wheel cover (hub cap). A weak or cracked rim can flex enough to cause a 'scrunching' noise from a poorly fitting (metal) wheel cover. Once, I had such a wheel cover and did not discover the noise source until one day while driving with the window open and passing a short wall, I head the sound reflecting off the wall. One of the friction tangs on the wheel cover was scraping back and forth as the wheel rotated and flexed.

7. Separated engine mount.

8. Dry shaft at rear of transmission. This splined shaft is supposed to be lubed to allow a small amount of sliding of the drive shaft.

9. Worn out holes around the lug nuts.
1. Dryed out steering damper. ( This is a samll shock absorber fastened to the steering rods.)
Let us know what you find. You may need an observer standing outside the truck while you produce the noise.

Thanks for giving me the list of things to check...
Since it is a metallic rather loud (not super loud) noise, like breaking a wood stick, I am thinking it is either a suspension like a ball-joint or steering related part problem. I will post once I find what it is but it could be a while.

The only thing close to a clicking sound that I hear is the roller balls wiggling around when I take clothes out. When doing steam or when the cycle starts the water jet from above the door, the pump does kick in with a clackety grinding sound. This is precisely the same sound that my fish tank pumps make when they turn on. (All five of them.) I assumed that the pump in the washer is the same design as a fish tank pump. (That being a cylindrical magnet with an impeller on one end. When the power is applied to the "motor" that the magnet slips into, the magnet wiggles around a moment before starting to spin. A fish tank pump is basically a motor on the outside, but to keep it water-tight, the 'stem' or magnet is dropped into a plastic hole which then goes into the 'motor'. It's not much different than a fan that you would use in the summer.) As for the dryer, I have noticed no strange sounds. I was expecting to hear rumbling upon start-up that's caused by the soft rollers getting a flat spot while the dryer is not in use. So far, none of that. (Experienced that noise often in the house we used to live in. Rental with landlord-owned appliances.) How old are your machines?

Are you sure it's not a water problem? The location next to the door leads me to this conclusion. An improperly flashed door will leak more than likely and result in exactly what you've described. Can you get at the subfloor from below? If you can, get down there and poke around...literally. If it is water, you should see darkened wood or white-ish stains. If you poke at it with a screwdriver if might feel "punky". Hopefully, it's not a water problem. If it is and you simply fix a weak joist, but not the root cause, you'll be right back in the same situation 5 yrs from now.

Loud noise/bang in spring water/pump/pressure tank setup

Thanks for that link - very helpful read. So, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around all this before I go to far. Let me explain. First, I'm trying just to understand how this works. I understand it in theory and in that article but, in our setup, it looks like all it is really servicing is the water spigot on the side of the house. The water comes in from the left, down into the tank and also to the right through the honey well then just... on to the water spigot that comes off the house. That's it. Now, I CAN simply unthread the pipe a bit further down, and then into another pipe right by it, to hook the house to the well water in an emergency - as it was shown and explained to me by the seller. So, is it to keep and regulate pressure to the house, its there just in case of that? That might all make sense to me except, why does it make the bang sound when I use water out in the yard from a different spigot. I can't seem to understand how it is even involved there. I see the one pipe go into it. That's it. So anyway, on to what the article says, and others after I've googled a bunch. So, banging on the side of it, it does sorta sound more thud ish than hollow, so I do wonder if it is water logged. I understand if it is water logged the pump will turn on immediately any time you use the water. That is the case here. It does have the air valve at the top, and air does come out - not water. So that is good. I read I need it to be pre charged to the psi (minus 2) of what the pressure needs to be for the pump to turn on. Or two less than the .. in (something). I can't find the exact term again as I type this but it was in-something. SO now what I'm trying to figure out. How do I find out what that number is, I don't see anything on the pump. Am I to put the pressure valve on the drain at the bottom and see what it is? If it's over pressured or under pressured wouldn't that give a bad reading? Is that what the honeywell is for? It says 50psi It looks like on the right. I don't know what the "diff" is on the left. So, should I turn off the pump, drain everything, drain the tank, then pressurize (or depressurize) the air to 48 psi? Everything I see says this is a simple task and I feel like I'm almost there, almost understanding it... just not quite there yet. One thing I do know for sure, it's a good sign water didn't come out of the air inlet. ;)

HI all, While I am getting the LG Washer replace today, I want to find out about the way the front loader washing mechanism works during spin. I had did couple load over the 2 weeks I had it and during spin, it seems to be a bit off balance at the start of the spin. Is this normal or I did have a bad washer that doesnt keep the tub in balance before and during spins. It gets a bit loud in the beginning of the spin. Please let me know what is your experience with your front loader washer. Thanks

Check your front brake pads for a squeaker finger. It should have been adjusted to touch the rotor after the pad is about 2/3 gone. Sometimes these fingers are maladjusted especially on replacement pads. Maladjusted fingers may scrape the rotor when the pad is only slightly worn, but worse yet, these can be bent away far enough to be ineffective. Also, you may find that on replacement pads, there are no fingers.
