Wow! That is incredibly generous to give something of DM's, and the "match" is great! (the snowmen painting is awesome too).

WHAT are those "cups" used for? They are such an unusual size and shape... hmmm... if they were smaller, I'd think they were egg cups.

My BF can read German fairly well and he says it appears to say that Rudesheim (on the Rhein River) is the hometown of the product/thing (Asbach Uralt) which originated in 1860.

Oh I think it says.."Kathleen has some British Castles too, send it to her!" LOL..

The little ornament seemed the perfect finish for this gift. I do believe in following my heart and they look at home on your shelf. All snuggled in amongst your beautiful dishes. Kathleen, I'm truly sorry I didn't know or remember you had the same dishes but it doesn't mean I won't find something for you too. If I didn't work and had more time here, I would be sending all of you something, I'm sure. I wanted to send all of you an ornament last Christmas but had to go to Vegas so didn't have time. I don't feel bad about my choice but it would of been fun to treat all of you.

OA, glad you think they go well with Jane's dishes. I grew up with the nickname Punky and it never left me. DH just ask if he could shorten it to Punk when we got married, so we did. The last name is Kerr so I'm Punk Kerr. It's been a fun name through the years. Been called Punky Brewster by several. Thanks for asking. Some have a hard time saying Punk but with being 54 and not going by my given name of Dora except with the IRS, it's just me.

Luvs, you know me pretty well, don't you? I love to give more than anything. Doesn't mean I don't like to receive but giving when you know it's appreciated just warms the heart. And it is so cold here we need something to warm us.haha

I'm glad you like how they look 'at home' in my hutch Punk..I wanted to give them a 'Place Of Honor'...and let you know how important they are to me and I will take great care of them. They will also be like having an extension of you and your family with me too.
You know, whenever I buy something old, I think about the person who originally owned it, and feel good that rather than it being thrown away, I'm still keeping it for them.
I guess that's how I feel about my things..I'd like to know that one day, they will still be appreciated by someone as I do.

Jane, I too think of who had something before me and hope they are pleased that I'm taking care of it for them. So pleased and I hope we will find out for sure if they are cups or ??? Could you use them as candle holders maybe?

You like Punky? My cousin named me that because when I was little I fell out of bed and DSis ran out to the LR and said Plunky, Plunky. I think my sis probably pulled me out of bed.lol

Any way my cousin lived with my DM and helped her raise us 3 kids so she's the one who nicknamed me Punky after hearing I fell out of bed. Now you have the rest of the Story!

When I buy a really beautiful old item, or bring something of Mom's out of hiding, I have a conversation with it and promise it that I will treat it with great care and keep it safe. DH laughs at me, but I like to think that the original owner is breathing a sigh of relief !...yep, I'm a crazy ol' coot!
