Sorry to see this so long after it posted. About 20 years ago, in Oklahoma, my husband and I tried selling tilt/ turn windows. Our company was called Eurowindows & Doors and we installed them throughout our house - totally outfitted - when we lived in Edmond. Our front door what the traditional pin- security German door. We attended trade shows and made an earnest go of it, but I believe we were ahead of our time, particularly for Oklahoma. See, as an Army brat, I'd lived about a cumulative 13 years of my life in Germany and REALLY missed those windows. We've since moved and left the window business behind, but I still love them and see that they're still pretty pricey and upscale. Still, I'm looking, too, to install them again into my future forever house. They're the best! Good luck!

I put a large Marvin tilt turn window in my old house. I really liked it (as I had learned to in Germany). Although they are expensive you do get the huge uninterrupted opening and the hopper ventilation. Of course you need to be sure that you have the space to inswing and have them properly installed so that they can open all the way (like a door). I am considering some for my current house and am wary of vinyl windows (even German ones). I also am curious if others have the vinyl.

OK thanks, will have to look into this...got hometech window in for a quote but he didn't recommenced these, said they work better for wider wall construction, otherwise when tilting they would stick too far out on top, interfering with blind drape etc. Also they don't vent very good as the regular outside crank window. Funny...told this to my German boss about this tilt and swing to the inside windows, he said in Germany they turn to the outside...I said I don't think so.

Hi Prime Ohio Real Estate - we’re really happy with our choice. We have 1% solar/roller blinds (allows 1% of light through) in black with a reflective backing. We have the narrowest black valance (painted the same colour code as the window frame) so the valance, which is flush with the wall, just disappears and works well with our contemporary style. All of the windows with the exception of our Tilt and Turn and large sliding door are the same. For those we used exterior mounted Habitat screens that work perfectly with this particular brand of window (Innotech). Because our French door opens outwards and has the same drywall return as our windows were were able to have the interior mounted blind. (Plus the door handle is not in the way). We would have gone with another exterior mounted blind if we weren’t able to have the interior one. Privacy, for us, didn’t really matter as we do not have people nearby. Surprisingly though, the reflective back makes a huge difference - because the blinds are black it’s possible to see out but not in (unless your face is pressed to the glass and you shade any reflections with your hands). At night with the lights on you can see shadows if you look in. The motor for the French door blind is battery operated but all the others are hard-wired. Everything works seamlessly - all the motors are from Somfy. The photos show the blind up behind the valance, the blind down, the blind halfway down viewed from the exterior, and the other 2 bathroom windows so you can see how they match.
