Mini-Remodel of Powder Room Finished! (PICS)

We finally finished the powder room remodel this week. I was a little nervous about the paint color choice at first but now I LOVE it! The room is very small, about 5 x 6 ft so its hard to take pictures of the full space, but here is the final version. You can find my original post with before pics of the powder room at the link below. Thanks to everyone for their input a couple months ago!

Thanks, olychick! I had about a week to pick the big stuff so they were all available, so really about three days of actually store time. At least one of our local Lowes guys knows me by site now! Thank goodness after all the initial research I ended up liking all the stuff at Lowes, it would have been a nightmare driving back an forth with tiles and samples. I just had to keep running over a few aisles! Thanks, lynn2006! Our whole house is a sea of tan/beige - walls, carpet, trim - so I wanted to keep the "permanent" items neutral but not plain beige. It's my favorite room in the house now, and the motivation to keep pushing forward with redoing all the rooms. Luckily after the kitchen it will be mostly flooring and paint, so a lot more affordable.

Thanks for the compliments! flyleft, The base paint is (Home Depot brand) Behr Interior Satin Enamel; color is "Fall Mood" (PWL-87). It's painted on with a roller (cut in at ceiling and corners with a brush). The next day I put on the glaze coat. I had them mix the top paint to a color that was the same as the base, but 25% lighter. The paint lady recommended 50% or 75% lighter, but I wanted a really subtle effect for the powder room. Anyway, the top paint is mixed 1 part paint, with 4 parts glaze. The glaze is Behr Faux Glaze (No, 748, whatever that means). So I mixed 1 pint of top paint with 1/2 gallon of Glaze (and still had lots left over), then applied the mixture with a rag. You just get the rag wet, wring it a little and then begin pressing it, all bunched up, onto the wall. You can do harder or softer for different effects, and you can do more sparsely or more completely for different effects. I did fairly hard (since it was so light) and pretty completely. Mini kitchen re-do pre full re-model.. help? (pics)

I just want to thank everyone for the help and advice. Dh and I have decided to go ahead with the full re-model. We won't be changing the layout but we are going to replace flooring, cabs and counters. I've decided NOT to use the maple slab from my barn. I'm going with granite all around. I REALLY want to remove the soffits but I took a peek today and there is duct work through out! I'm really having a hard time with this.. just looking at them makes me want to cry. I just don't know what to do to make them blend in. They aren't just typical soffits that are near flush with the cabs.. they come out almost 2 feet from the wall, and 10 inches from the cabinets. They also have some funny angles that might make crown molding around the cabinets look odd? I'm going to post over on the kitchen forums to try to get more feedback on the soffits. Thanks again.. you all helped me with the motivation to for the 'real' makeover!

I really like the two towel rings. Not just the visual interest, but one could be used for hands and one for face if anyone were to need it. Beautiful room!

LOL..raenjapan you are right, the wallpaper was pretty awful! I've still got the rest of the whole house to strip 1980s wallpaper from, but at least we have made a good start with the kitchen area. It is so nice to finally see the changes!

Thanks for all the kind comments on the new powder room. The paint color made all the difference, in my opinion. We used the same color to accent the area behind the windows in the kitchen and the recessed area around the butler pantry.

The paint was Behrs Currant Jam ICC-83. We bought it at Home Depot. Here is the formula mix they used:

And also in the recessed area around the butler pantry, which is just a little way from the powder room in the kitchen.

After living with all that wallpaper for 20 years it is so nice to have painted walls now!

Both the kitchen and the powder room are gorgeous! I love the red accents above the windows and in the butlers pantry - very cool!

Can you tell me where you got your mirror. I am doing a small powder room and bought the dark cabinets with a marble white top and I love your mirror. Love your paint!
