pendant vanity lighting questions

I will have a 76" long double vanity with a 3'x5' framed mirror above it. Since I won't have much room on either side of the mirror, I would like to use 3 mini pendants (one on each end of the mirror plus one hanging in the middle). Is it better to use halogen or CFL bulbs?

I'm wondering if I should also have a small 4" recessed halogen light over each sink.

What do you think? Anyone have this set-up?

Just a question of curiosity...since your vanity is 76 inches long and the mirror won't take up the entire length of the vanity,would you have room for a sconce on either side of your mirror? Putting lights at eye level will provide a more accurate and flattering light.

Are either of the planned pendant locations next to a tub or shower door? There is a code requirement for hanging light fixtures being a certain distance from tub edge or shower door. I can't recall the specific distance, but it killed my plan to use pendants at my vanity. (My bathroom is small, however.)

yes..let me try through my pics though not through Houzz photos one.. they're actually different which is hard to see on the photo with lights on..here are the pendants (one can get puzzled why the mirrors don't reach the ceiling..no reason except for my silliness..I though" I don't want all the reflection in the mirror, cords canopies all that jazz.." well you can still see most of it reflected anyway. lol) they're centered to the space itself not to the mirrors since the mirrors are slightly different in width..framing would make it prominent. thus no frames. even though initially I planned frames etc. Also I somehow really didn't want backsplash. I felt like bathroom has enough going on. Frameless mirrors helped me to avoid the unwanted backsplash.

None of those will provide good light. You’ll look sickly and won’t be able to apply makeup. You need to reassess this design. It isn’t good. It’s truly terrible in fact. Cramming in two pedestal sinks with no storage and putting a giant dead body in between to block lighting is not a good plan. And neither are vanities in front of windows. It’s a dysfunctional to the max plan. You need a single sink vanity, in the center, with storage below. And 2 face height sconces on that wall. Plus additional general room lighting, and task lighting above the toilet, tub, and shower. All have to be damp rated to be used in a bathroom. Not kitchen lights.

You could do 3 pendants that are 12-14" in diameter above an island that size. We are also planning a tin look ceiling and have chosen "Vintage Metal" as it looked best with our brushed nickel lighting fixture. I suggest ordering samples in each of the silver finishes so you can visualize how your metals look together. We were surprised with the one that looked best and I might have overlooked the option otherwise.

For a pair, one on each side or in front of a mirror? Yes, probably but it depends on their size and what position and how high they are? One sink or two?

There will be 8" wall space available on each side of the mirror, so yes there is room for a narrow sconce. However, the sconces would be 62" apart! My thought was that if I used pendants I could also have one hanging in the middle so that the 3 pendants would be only 30" apart and both sinks would have side lighting. Not sure if I should use pendants with CFL bulbs or ???
