A re-introduction

I posted here for about a year and a half and I always enjoyed this board so much, because I'm a Christmas/holiday nut.

I still had dial-up then, and around Thanksgiving 2008, the whole thing became too frustrating. I really did think that we were going to get our high speed internet in a few weeks, but a full year went by. I missed two Christmases, so now I'll have the fun of looking back to see all those pictures. At the same time I'll be checking out Presidents Day, Groundhog Day and Valentines.

I remember you and I'm glad you're on High speed now and can get to enjoy all that you've missed. Hope you can also Share some stuff too!
I think I remember you redid your Kitchen Color and had a huge Blue & White Collection like I do...am I right?

No, that's not me, but I remember you, and your beautiful photos.

I got a new computer for Christmas, and I haven't moved my programs yet, but when I get PSE on this computer, I will be sharing again. Can't wait to do it in seconds instead of all that waiting. --Gail

If you have your photos posted on an internet photo hosting site such as Photobucket, or Flicker as wantonamara does, and you copy the html code and paste it here. It will look like code here, but when you go to Preview Message, you will see the photo. Also at the top of this page, there is a link to "instructions," click on "test forum," then, "gallery area" where you can practice cutting and pasting your photos so you get it right. Every once in a while I get it all mixed up and copy the wrong code and have to go there to practice until I remember the right code to use. Penny

Morning Glories are twining climbing vines which require some other structure (twine, stakes, branches, etc., to twine their entire stems around in order to climb. Morning Glories do NOT produce the type of specialized tendrils of clinging vines (e.g., Cucurbitaceae) with or without adhering discs or aerial roots which enable other types of vines (Parthenocissus spp , Hedera spp ) to self-attach to a solid wall or structure of any material. Morning Glories do NOT produce the type of bio-chemicals excreted by the adhering discs or aerial roots of clinging vines cited in the paragraph above which will eventually damage the mortar between bricks and cause disintegration of wood. The fact that any MG or other plant comes from a commercial source is no guarantee that it is as labeled and in fact it is often the case that commercial sources do not know how to properly identify species including MG's. You want to be sure of what you got in any packet (?)...then post the seedlings and young plants on one of the forums where people with an established (long term) reputation for accurate identification can ID what you have growing... New place, clean slate...(Re)introduction

Well, my clean slate is interesting... 1.5 acre lot, house facing due south. The southwest corner where the house is located is completely tree covered/shaded (something I've never had before) and the rest is completely open. My long term plan involves no-lawn/shade beds around the house and large perennial/native or adapted beds in the open areas. I see years of work ahead but I am ready to start. My goal is to have 25% or less dedicated to lawn as I don't believe in (or have the budget for) maintaining a "golf course" lawn. My ideas may be bigger than my wallet so I will be turning to you good folks for ideas on how to accomplish my vision in phases on a tight budget. This should be fun.

Welcome. I'm kind of new to this forum, so I never had the pleasure of meeting you. But I know what you mean about slow computers/frustration. I don't have dial up, but it's an old one. I'll be in the middle of reading a post and it jumps because another picture finally finished loading. That's why we agreed to start a new cloche thread; took me forever to scroll to the newest posts.
By the way, OT, but...there isn't anyway to start with newest posts, is there? That would be so helpful.

Welcome back NCnana - I have come back to the fold also after a year or so of dealing with family health issues - it feels so good to be able to enjoy everyones pictures and share my own - looking forward to seeing yours :)

nancyjeanmc - I always hit 'end' on my keyboard and that takes me to the bottom of the page and then I scroll back up to the new posts when it get over 6 or 7 posts - I find that is quicker for me .....

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but Lynne ... oh-my-heaven. I didn't even know that button was there; I looked for it when I read your post. I tried it out on the old cloche thread, and it took me right to the bottom of the page. I'm so old ... but I did learn a new trick! Thanks.

Gail, so glad your back and will look forward to seeing all your beautiful creations. This is such a fun, loving, caring, sharing group on here. Oh, we have a bus and a couple of taxi's that we talk about taking and visiting each other at times. Please don't think we're crazy, (well, maybe a little at times) just having fun!

They sure are right when they refer to themselves as Enablers-R-Us. In the past few months I have been "forced" to buy all kinds of dishes, glasses, silverware, and linens. All of which I never knew I wanted until I came over here!! LOL
