The above posters are correct. I would first contact an attorney. The expense you are about to incur is extreme and it is highly unlikely that your contractor is just going to pay it. Make sure that you don't lose your right to file a lawsuit by making a mistake - only an attorney in your state can make sure that you proceed in the best possible way in case the matter ends up in court. It should only cost an hour of an attorney's time to get an outline of what steps you need to take. As far as correcting the problem, you will need to call a mold remediator. There are many, many bad mold companies out there, so beware. Based upon my own experience and what I have learned from others who have also lived this kind of nightmare - you will need to remove all of the siding/stucco/brick/whatever, remove and reinstall the windows (correctly), remove and replace moldy or rotted studs (unless a structural engineer deems them sound), remove and replace drywall, subfloor, etc. until all of the damaged materials are gone. You may need to have your HVAC ducts cleaned as well. PLEASE DO NOT CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY! If you even call your insurance company they will report that your house has mold and you may lose your coverage. A house black listed by mold can have problems being sold because the buyers cannot obtain insurance on that property (CLUE databases track problems by address, not necessarily the owner). You have a long, uphill battle ahead of you. I urge you not to just cover it up and sell without disclosure. You could end up getting sued. The flooring store put the Triangulo on sale so he says no warranty. He will warranty the install for me. I don't know - maybe he bought a truckload? I don't know how useful warranties are to some degree as all I hear is horror stories of companies who don't do anything anyway. Since I already know the house has the potential for moisture issues I almost assumed that would be the "out" if anything happened. I've gotten very pessimistic after reading stuff online and talking to friends. I had planned, if floated, to put a vapor barrier and cork down under. It is just that 5/16 that is worrying to me - it is so thin I feel like it will not hold up. The wear layer is miniscule...and I don't know, other than it is ply and not HDF, what the layers are made of. If it is this thin the layers under may make a significant difference. This hardwood flooring search is actually very tough. I've talked to friends, read reviews, etc. It just seems like the last 5-6 years the quality just isn't there. Many of my friends with recent hardwood (engineered or solid) purchase are not as happy as my friend's who put hardwoods in a long time ago..or whose home had original hardwoods. Almost everyone who has it "newer" says it scratches, dents, peels, and has other problems. I'm not sure what to make of that! There was only one lady with a Bruce Oak Engineered she put in about 5 years ago who was happy with it....

I called several state agencies (public health dept included) and was told I need to talk to read my contract and talk to my HOA. There is not anything that they can do. Despite the call from my HOA to the landlord I can still smell cigarette smoke. I talked to various people. One of my co workers think our cold air returns are right next to each other. I don't know that they are but even if they are right next to each other they should be for cold air, not contaminated air? My neighbor on the top level (not the smokers) showed me her mechanical room and there no pipes from the ground unit going through her unit so I can conclude that my pipes go through their unit and out the attic or roof. I turned my heater off since since 6am today. It did not have a smell this morning. I just smelled it and I detect an odor even though my heater has been off!!!! The odor is coming through the cracks or vents? My neighbor also saw the neighbor next to me smoking in the mechanical room that houses all the water meters for our building. Could it be coming from there even though they are next to me? I am going to reseal around the pipes and see if it helps and if it doesn't, I am calling a contractor to find out the source once and for all. In the meantime I am spending $900 on the IQair Health Pro :(

When having this house renovated post purchase, much of the bathroom was gutted and the sink I had installed is one I bought new some years before and was waiting to use (American Standard Standard Collection Console sink with oval glass shelf.) Because the works underneath are totally exposed I bought the best chrome P-trap and fittings a local plumbing supply house had. In a month or so I'll have my plumber back to install a pump for my utility sink, and he will need to add another vent stack I believe, so I'll have him see if the sink is connected to the bath vent, and if the vent has any blockage. I'll ask him about the air admittance valve - thank you so much for that information!
